The Effects of Time Perspective on Time Management and Life Satisfaction for College Students (대학생의 시간전망이 시간관리와 생활만족도에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the differences in time perspective by socio-demographic variables and to investigate the effect of time perspective on time management and life satisfaction for college students. Questionnaires including time perspective, time management, and life satisfaction scales were used for this study. The survey data from 382 college students were analyzed by frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan test, Pearson's correlation analysis, and stepwise regression. The time perspective, composed of four factors future insensibility and present, past, and future orientation, differed according to the sex, academic grade, and specialty of the college students. The time perspective of the college students and the socioeconomic status of their households were investigated as effective variables on time management and life satisfaction. Based on these results, the implications for research and policy on the time perspective of college students were discussed.

The Effect of Shopping Orientations on Clothing Purchasing Behavior according to Residence (거주지별 쇼핑 성향이 의복 구매 행동에 미치는 영향)

  • The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of shopping orientations on clothing purchasing behavior according to residence. The data was obtained from questionnaires filled out by 530 females living in Seoul and Jecheon. For data analysis, factor analysis, ANOVA, t-test, Cronbach's $\alpha$, Duncan's multiple range test and cluster analysis were used. For shopping orientation, five factors of orientation were found and labeled as hedonism, brand and store loyalty, conformity, economy and rationality factor. Based on five shopping orientation factors, women were classified into five clusters(self-centered and rational, recreational, economy and shopping low involvement, economical and conformative cluster). Each cluster showed significantly different clothing purchasing behaviors (problem recognition, information search and evaluative criteria) and had different demographic variables(age, income, marital status and school career). Finally, residence and shopping orientations have influenced various clothing purchasing behavior. In conclusion, residence was the important factor which influenced on shopping orientation and clothing purchasing behavior.

An Analysis on Brand Awareness of Western-style Family Restaurants (서양식 패밀리 레스토랑의 브랜드 인지도에 관한 분석)

  • The verified results of this study on the selected study assignments are as follows: Brand awareness of the western-style family restaurants in both study assignment One and Two is examined by showing and comparing the restaurants ranked from first to third. The ranking is based on the survey response rate only. And the familiarity of family restaurants' logos is investigated by statistical techniques such as T-test Anova, Duncan's Multiple Range Test, etc. Firstly, the analytical result of study assignment One shows that the brand awareness of the family restaurants can vary depending on how often customers use the restaurants. Secondly, the analytical result of study assignment Two shows that the familiarity and the preference of the restaurants ranked from first to third are identical each other depending on customers' sex, marital status, and income. Besides, the result shows that the brand awareness shows different rankings depending on customers' age, educational background, and occupation. Thirdly, the analytical result of study assignment Three indicates that the familiarity is different depending on customers' age, educational background, occupation, and annual income.

The Types of Housing Life-Style and Preferences of the Internal and External Space of Multi-Family Housing (주생활양식 유형과 공동주택내부.외부공간의 선호에 관한 연구)

  • This study has been designed to explore how the types of housing life-style relate to the preferences of internal and external spaces among multi-family housing residents. Data were collected by questionnaire self-administered to 278 female residents living in multi-family housing over 20s pyong (66$m^2$) in the Kwangju area. General linear model/Duncan-test, and $x^2$-test were used in analyzing the data. In the preferences of internal space, there were significant differences in the needs of an indoor garden, exercise spaces, and a front balcony and in the concept of the living room and the dining-kitchen by types of housing life-style. In the preferences of external spaces, there were significant difference in the preferred type of housing, the preferred residential area, and in the need of an individual storage space and a walking path by types of housing life-style.

  • The purpose of the study were to investigate the differences of Image on male and female\\` The purpose of the study were to investigate the differences of Image on male and female´ Contemporary folk costume of Female College Students according to their life styles and their major. The data were collected from 300 female college students in Cheongju city through self-administerd questionnaires, and were analyzed by frequencies, Cronbach´s $\alpha$, F-test, Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis, one way ANOVA and Duncan Test. The results of the study were as follows: The image on male and female´ Contemporary folk costume were found to include four different dimensions- fashion, activity, gracefulness, ability. There were not significant differences between dimensions of image on male and female´ contemporary folk costume according to student´s major. Life styles were classified five types. There were significantly different at dimensions of fashion and gracefulness, ability between life style dimensions and image on males´ contemporary folk costume. There was significantly different at dimension of gracefulness between life style dimensions and image on females´ contemporary folk costume.

The Development of Delay of Gratification by Cognitive Style and Reward Presentation (인지양식 유형과 보상의 제시형태에 따른 아동의 만족지연능력 발달)

  • The purpose of the present study was to investigate the effects of age, sex, cognitive style and reward presentation on delay of gratification. The subjects of this study were 120 children 4, 6 and 8 years of age attending preschool and an elementary school in Pusan. They were identified as impulsive or reflective according to their performance on Kagan's Matching Familiar Figures Test. The levels of reward presentation consisted of the reward which was presented physically and the reward which wasn't presented physically. Length of waiting time was recorded as the measure of maintenance of delay of gratification. The data of this study were analyzed with Two-way ANOVA, Duncan's Multiple Range Test. The major finding were as follows: (1) Delay time increased with age. (2) No sex difference is found in delay time. (3) Reflective children delayed longer than impulsive children in all age groups. (4) The reward which wasn't physically presented produced loner delay time than the reward which was physically presented in all age groups.

  • The purpose of this study is to find out the benefits sought factors of clothing and to segment the female apparel market to analyze clothing preferences and demographic characteristics of benefit segments. The subjects were 303 female in their 30's and 40's living in Seoul and the Kyunggi province. For data analysis, mean, Factor Analysis, Cluster Analysis, ANOVA, Duncan test, x²-test were conducted. The results are as follows: 1. Benefits sought by female were found to include five different factors-brand, individuality, fashionability, activity and economy. As a result of subdividing the female, five distinctive groups were formed on the basis of benefit factors-brand oriented group, indifference group, indifference group, fashion oriented group, economy oriented group, individuality oriented group. 2. Among the classified benefit groups, there were significant differences in clothing preferences according to fabric, style and color. 3. Among the classified benefit groups, there were significant differences in demographic variables according to the academic background, occupation of the subjects.

Consumer Dissatisfaction Factors and Purchase Behaviors of Backpacks

  • The purposes of the present study were to investigate the factors of consumer dissatisfaction with backpacks and to examine if the levels of dissatisfaction with the factors differ significantly among the groups determined by demographic characteristics and purchase behaviors. The differences in the purchase behaviors of backpacks were also tested among the groups determined by demographic characteristics. Data collection was consisted of two pilot tests and the final test. The questionnaire was distributed to 40 students of universities in Seoul from July 1 to 13 in 2000 and 351 were usable. Data were analyzed by factor analysis, t-test, χ²analysis, MANOVA, ANAOVA, Duncan's multiple range tests using SPSS PC/sup +/ Program. Five factors were formulated : durability, ease-of-care/color fastness, dimensional stability, wearability and design. Subjects were most dissatisfied with the dimensional stability of backpacks. Different demographic characteristics and purchase behaviors resulted in significantly different levels of dissatisfaction with selected factors. Significant differences were also found in selected selection criteria and purchase behaviors among groups determined by some demographic characteristics.

Adolescents Impulsive Purchase Behaviors as Determined by Clothing Shopping Orientation (청소년의 의복쇼핑성향에 따른 충동구매행동)

  • The purpose of the present study was to analyze clothing shopping orientation and impulsive purchase behavior for clothing by using adolescents. Data were collected through a self-administered questionnaire survey from 680 middle and high school students living in Gangrung area from July 2 to July 6, 2001; 582 were used for the data analysis. Data were analyzed by chi-square analysis, 1-test, ANOVA, descriptive statistics, cluster analysis and Duncan's multiple range test. The results showed significant differences in clothing shopping orientation and in the impulsive shopping factors for clothing among the groups determined by demographic characteristics and, in the impulsive shopping factors for clothing among groups determined by the shopping orientation. Female students and high school students showed higher tendencies of recent experiences of impulsive buying for clothing. More thin half of the subjects tended to spend less than 30,000 won and to buy two items each time when purchasing clothing impulsively. Most students used discount shops or specialized stores fur impulsive purchase.

The Effect of Body Cathexis on the Clothing Behavior - among Male and Female College Students - (신체만족도에 따른 의복행동에 대한 연구 - 남녀 대학생을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of genderand body cathexis on clothing behavior (interest in clothing and clothing satisfaction/dissatisfaction). The questionnaire were administered to 395 college students living in Jechon. Data were analyzed by frequency, factor analysis, t-test, ANOVA, two-way ANOVA, Duncan's Multiple Range Test and Pearson's Correlation. The results of this study were as follows : 1) body-cathexis was higher in men than women. In general, students were more satisfied with upper body parts than lower body parts. 2) There was no relationship between interest in cloghing and body-cathexis. But woman showed more interest in clothing than man, therefore sex showed main effect. And there was interaction between sex and body-cathexis on interest in clothing. 3) Clothing satisfaction was devided into aesthetic/economical/practical factors. Among three satisfaction factors, body cathexis has the main effect in economic factor, and there was no interaction. But in aesthetic factor, gender and body-cathexis showed interaction and body-cathexis showed main effect.
