Analysis of Electromagnetic Scattering from an Arbitrarily-Shaped Conductor using Duffy한s Method (Duffy 방법을 이용한 임의 형상 도체의 전자파 산란 해석)

  • The method of moment is applied to the analysis of electromagnetic scattering from an arbitrarily-shaped conductor. The conducting surface is discretized into triangular patches using a GID tool. Surface currents on a conductor are expanded with a vector triangle basis function. By using the Duffy's method, the singular integration appeared in a triangle patch can be transformed into the non-singular integral form suitable for one dimensional Gaussian quadrature integration method. Mutual and self integration extracted singular terms are evaluated by two dimensional Gaussian quadrature techniques.

  • The present study was designed to investigate polymorphism in Duffy binding protein (DBP) gene of Plasmodium vivax isolates of Korea. Thirty samples were obtained from P. vivax patients in Yonchon-gun, Kyonggi-do in 1998. The PCR products of the samples were subjected to sequencing and hybridization analyses of the regions II and IV of P. vivax DBP gene. Two genotypes, SK-1 and SK-2, were identified on the basis of amino acid substitution and deletion. The genotype of 10 isolates was SK-1 and that of 20 isolates was SK-2. Most of the predicted amino acids in the region ll of DBP gene were conserved between the Korean isolates and Belem strain except for 4-5 amino acid substitutions. In the region W of DBP, a 6-bp insert that was shown in the Sal-1 allele type was found in SK-1, and a 27-bp insert that was shown in the Papua New Guinea allele type was found in SK-2. In conclusion, the present findings suggest that two genotypes of P. vivax coexist in the endemic area of Korea.

Frequencies and Distributions of Unexpected Antibodies at a General Hospital in the Daejeon of Korea (대전지역 일개 종합병원에서의 비예기 항체 발생현황과 분포)

  • When preparing for a blood transfusion, the presence and types of unexpected antibodies should be identified through screening tests. Using the DiaMed-ID system, antibody identification among unexpected antibody screening tests performed at a university hospital in Daejeon area for two years from January 2016 to December 2017 were limited to 55 patients and were predominantly women. A total of 36 patients (65.5%) belonged to the Rh group, 7 (12.7%) patients to the Lewis group, 4 (7.3%) patients to the Kidd and Duffy groups, 3 patients (5.5%) to the MNS group, and 1 (1.8%) to the Rh+Kidd combined group. In the Rh group, 19 (34.5%) patients had Anti-E single antibody, 5 (9.1%) patients had Anti-D single antibody, 4 (7.3%) patients had Anti-E/-c, 4 (7.3%) patients had Anti-C/-e, and 1 (1.8%) patient had $Anti-E/-c/-Jk^b$. In the Lewis group, three (5.5%) patients had both $Anti-Le^a$ and $Anti-Le^b$. In the Kidd group, one (1.8%) patient had $Anti-Jk^a$ and three (5.5%) patients had $Anti-Jk^b$. In the Duffy and MNS groups, only single antibody was found: one (1.8%) patient with $Anti-Fy^a$, three (5.5%) patients with $Anti-Fy^b$, two (3.6%) patients with Anti-M, and one (1.8%) patient with Anti-S. This study reflects the recent frequencies and distributions of unexpected antibodies in Daejeon, which would be helpful for the efficient preparation for transfusions.

Effects of PEGylated scFv Antibodies against Plasmodium vivax Duffy Binding Protein on the Biological Activity and Stability In Vitro

  • Duffy binding protein (DBP) plays a critical role in Plasmodium vivax invasion of human red blood cells. We previously reported a single-chain antibody fragment (scFv) that was specific to P. vivax DBP (PvDBP). However, the stabilization and the half-life of scFvs have not been studied. Here, we investigated the effect of PEGylated scFvs on their biological activity and stability in vitro. SDS-PAGE analysis showed that three clones (SFDBII-12, -58, and -92) were formed as monomers (about 70 kDa) with PEGylation. Clone SFDBII-58 gave the highest yield of PEGylated scFv. Binding analysis using BIAcore between DBP and scFv showed that both SFDBII-12 and -58 were decreased approximately by two folds at the level of binding affinity to DBP after PEGylation. However, the SFDBII-92 clone still showed a relatively high level of binding affinity ($K_D=1.02{\times}10^{-7}\;M$). Binding inhibition assay showed that PEGylated scFv was still able to competitively bind the PvDBP and playa critical role in inhibiting the interactions between PvDBP protein expressed on the surface of Cos-7 cells and Duffy receptor on the surface of erythrocytes. When both scFvs and their PEGylated counterparts were exposed to trypsin, scFv was completely degraded only after 24 h, whereas 35% of PEGylated scFvs remained intact, maintaining their stability against the proteolytic attack of trypsin until 72 h. Taken together, these results suggest that the PEGylated scFvs retain their stability against proteolytic enzymes in vivo, with no significant loss in their binding affinity to target antigen, DBP.

  • 양적속성의 추정을 위한 확률화응답기법은 Greenberg et al.(1971)로부터 시작된다. 이후 새로운 방법에 대한 제시(Dalenius와 Vitale(1974)) 및 분포함수에 대한 추정(Duffy와 Waterton(1984))등이 연구되어 오고 있다. 본 연구에서는 2단계 확률화응답기법을 이용하여 양적속성을 추정하는 방법을 제시하고 이의 효율성 비교를 행해 보고자 한다.

  • 3차 비선형광학 재료를 설계하기 위해 단성분 산화물에서의 산소의 평균 전자분극률과 광학 염기도를 굴절율, 에너지 갭의 각기 다른 물성을 통해 산출하였다. Lorentz-Lornez식과 Duffy 의 반실험식을 도입하여 산소의 평균 전자분극율과 광학 염기도를 두가지 다른 물성으로부터 계산하여 비교하였다. 처음으로 독립적인 초기값에서 계산한 각각의 산소의 평균 전자분극률과 광학 염기도 사이에 좋은 상응관계가 있음을 확인하였다.

  • A contemporary office space is changed by the transformation to an information-oriented society from an industrial society. A contemporary office space is recognized as an interactional space which is more of a mental and psychological space than a physical space. I studied the basic concept of an office space and the relationship of a social change and an office space on this study. I also studied the concept of an ubiquitous computing and the relationship of an ubiquitous computing and an office space. Through this study, we can establish the new concept of an office space to be applied to an ubiquitous concept. The ubiquitous concept of an office space will be brought into a new prototype of an office space, and then there is no more important to a physical place and time. The office space must be redesigned by an ubiquitous space nowadays.

  • We analyzed radiation characteristics of dipole antenna in a lossy 9round with conducting object located above ground. Electric field integral equation is used to solve the problem. In this integral equation, GPOF(Generalized Pencil of Function) method is applied to derive the closed form of the electric field due to a current source. Surface current on a conductor is expanded with a well-known vector triangle basis function. The singular integration of a triangle patch is transformed to the non-singular integration by Duffy's method. This transformed non-singular integration is easily calculated by using one-dimensional Gaussian quadrature rule, instead of usual closed form evaluation.
