Geometry Processing using Multi-Core GP-GPU (멀티코어 GP-GPU를 이용한 지오메트리 처리)

  • A 3D graphics pipeline is largely divided into geometry stage and rendering stage. In this paper, we propose a method that accelerates a geometry processing in multi-core GP-GPU, using dual-phase structure. It can be improved by parallel data processing using SIMD of GP-GPU, dual-phase structure and memory prefetch. The proposed architecture improves approximately 19% of performance when it use all the features.

Inundation simulation in a urban drainage basin considering tidal stage effect (조위의 영향을 고려한 도심지 배수유역에서의 범람모의)

  • In this study, SWMM model is used to reproduce the main storm sewer system located in the Nae-Hang drainage basin of the Mokpo city and keep track of flood discharge. Given the outlet of the reaches border the coastline, this paper has taken the dual-drainage approach to perform inundation simulation, considering both the overflows and inflows at the manholes of the sewer system, and at the same time, taking the impacts of tidal stage into consideration. The following conclusions are reached in this study: First, when planning lowland sewer system alongside the coastline or the riverside, the tidal stage or flood stage need to be considered in the planning and design processes. Second, an analysis that fails to consider overflow and inundation at the manholes may overestimate inundation depth of the flooded area. In other words, in order to estimate flood discharge and flood stage in a lowland storm sewer system, it is desirable to analyze the conveyance capacity of storm sewer system and simulate overflow and inundation at the manholes at the same time.

Characteristics of residuals from the 2nd-stage microfiltration in a dual membrane process (침지식 2단 막여과 고도 정수처리 시스템의 최종배출수 특징)

  • Low-pressure membrane processes have been extensively expanded their applications to drinking water production in a few decades. As a capacity of a membrane plant becomes greater in recent years, proper methods to increase water production as well as to treat residuals have drawn great attention. A possible treatment option for the better water production is to apply a dual membrane system. The second stage microfiltration was installed and operated for approximately six months. The residuals from the two stage microfiltration were investigated to learn their characteristics in settling and dewatering processes. The settlability of the membrane residuals were greatest at the SS concentration of approximately 15000mg/L. The proper dose of the polyelectrolytes for filterability were obtained in the range of 0.5~1%. In the dosage range, the water contents of the membrane residuals were greater but the SRF were lower than the residual from the conventional process.

Development of Dual Stage Profile Shifted Gear System with Bearing-Integrated Structure for High Reduction Ratio (고감속비를 가지는 베어링일체형 구조의 2단 전위 감속기의 개발)

  • Planetary gearing is a gear system consisting of one or more planet gears, revolving about a sun gear. While the planetary gear system has many advantages- for example, high power density, large reduction in a small volume, multiple kinematic combinations, pure torsional reactions, and coaxial shafting, it has not been widely used because of its high bearing loads, inaccessibility, and design complexity. It is also necessary to shift several pairs of gear profiles at a same time. Therefore, designing profile shifted planetary gear system is a difficult and know-how dependent job. This study provides a practical solution to design a profile shifted gear system by the procedural design scheme, and proposes a bearing integrated structure of the dual stage profile shifted gear system with a robust output end. A dual stage profile shifted gear system with the bearing integrated structure is manufactured by the proposed design scheme in this study. This gear system is verified that it is good enough to commercialize, because it has high performance with high gear ratio and robust output end against axial and radial directional runouts in a small space.

  • To realize higher track density of HDD, the servo bandwidth should be higher, however, is limited by the mechanical resonances of the arm, coil of the VCM and ball bearing pivot. The dual-stage actuator systems have been suggested as a possible solution. For the dual-stage actuator systems based on the suspension, the suspension resonance frequencies in the radial access direction are important factors to increase a servo bandwidth, however the improvement of these frequencies may affect the shock resistance performance and spring constant. The slider's flying stability can be deteriorated by the change of a vertical stiffness. In this work, we have investigated a suspension design scheme possessing a milliactuator for dual-stage actuator systems and also achieved higher mechanical characteristics. Design parameters are deduced by finite element analysis with sensitivity function. It is confirmed that the proposed suspension with the milliactuator has the capability of fine tracking motion, due to its hinge structure on the spring region, and achieves higher mechanical resonance frequencies in the radial access direction with a high-shock resistance and a low-spring constant.

Adaptive Feedforward Rejection of Microactuator Resonance in Hard Disk Drive Dual-stage Actuator Servo (하드디스크 드라이브 마이크로 구동기의 공진 영향 제거를 위한 적응 피드포워드 제어)

  • We propose a novel adaptive feed forward controller (AFC) design method for rejecting the effect of micro actuator resonance in the design of dual-stage actuator servo systems for disk drives. Microactuator's resonance is one of important issues in dual-stage actuator servo, which varies up to ${\pm}10%$ per product and even during operation. We derive an adaptive algorithm for the proposed AFC design, which turns out to be identical to the delayed-x LMS algorithm which is a special form of the filtered-x LMS algorithm. In the algorithm, coefficients of the AFC are adapted by the residuals of constrained structure defined in such a way that the coefficients become time invariant. Contrary to the conventional AFC, it considers the phase delay of closed-loop transfer function at resonance frequency for system stability. We also apply an adaptive algorithm with frequency tracking capability. The frequency tracking algorithm is induced by the orthogonality of AFC coefficients. Computer simulations are carried out to demonstrate effect of the proposed AFCs.

TSCH-Based Scheduling of IEEE 802.15.4e in Coexistence with Interference Network Cluster: A DNN Approach

  • In the paper, we propose a TSCH-based scheduling scheme for IEEE 802.15.4e, which is able to perform the scheduling of its own network by avoiding collision from interference network cluster (INC). Firstly, we model a bipartite graph structure for presenting the slot-frame (channel-slot assignment) of TSCH. Then, based on the bipartite graph edge weight, we utilize the Hungarian assignment algorithm to implement a scheduling scheme. We have employed two features (maximization and minimization) of the Hungarian-based assignment algorithm, which can perform the assignment in terms of minimizing the throughput of INC and maximizing the throughput of own network. Further, in this work, we called the scheme "dual-stage Hungarian-based assignment algorithm". Furthermore, we also propose deep learning (DL) based deep neural network (DNN)scheme, where the data were generated by the dual-stage Hungarian-based assignment algorithm. The performance of the DNN scheme is evaluated by simulations. The simulation results prove that the proposed DNN scheme providessimilar performance to the dual-stage Hungarian-based assignment algorithm while providing a low execution time.

  • This paper proposes a swing-arm type dual-stage actuator, which consists of a PZT actuator for fine motion and a VCM(voice coil motor) for coarse motion, for an SFF ODD(small form factor optical disk drive), in order to achieve fast access speed and precise track-following control. Over the past few decades there have been a lot of researches related to the VCM and dual-stage actuator. In this paper, we focus our attention on the design and control of the PZT actuator. Due to the dual cantilever structure. the PZT actuator can generate precise translational tracking motion at its tip to which an optical pickup is attached. and the effect of hysteric behavior of the PZT element is reduced. The dynamic model of the PZT actuator is derived by using the Hamilton's principle, and verified by comparing it with the experimental frequency response. The sliding mode control is designed in order to be robust against modeling uncertainties. Simulations and experimental results confirm the effectiveness of the suggested control scheme.

A Precision Micro-Positioning System by Using Hinge Mechanism

  • A precision micro-positioning system with a high displacement resolution and wide motion range has been required for industrialized applications in variety fields. This paper discusses the design of a precision micro-rotation stage with flexure hinges. Proposed system is applied to grinding machine for micro parts. Rotational motion is generated with this system. For this systems having a full rotation motion with high precision, a dual servo system with a coarse stage and a fine stage is proposed.
