  • Purpose This study was performed to evaluate the stability of dual thread implant using resonance frequency analysis in human. Materials and methods Fifty-five patients(32 males and 23 females) with a mean age of 50 years and 1 month who were treated during March, 2005 to July, 2007 in Pusan National University hospital. Totally 145 dual thread Implants were installed and initial stability was measured by Osstell $Mentor^{TM}$. After 3-6 Months, secondary stability was measured at the time of second surgery or before prosthetic treatment. Results At the time of 1st surgery, average ISQ value was $75.12{\pm}12.06$. Only 1 implant was failed during the healing period. Before prosthetic treatment, ISQ values were measured and its mean value was $80.94{\pm}6.12$. Conclusion These results suggest that the increased stability of the implant verifies the clinical relevance of double thread implant.

  • This study is the results related to the combustion instability phenomenon with respect to combustor length and thermal power as variables in dual swirling combustor configuration. Especially, the beating phenomena having the insensitive resonance frequency of relatively constant peaks are observed when the combustor lengths increase in a lower power regime. This beating phenomenon might be occurred due to the interacting behaviors of pilot and main burners with different periods. Therefore, such insensitive response seems to be a result of the beating phenomenon with interaction between the pilot and main flames even though the combustor lengths are increased.

  • In this paper, a small internal antenna for dual-band(RFID, PCS) applications is presented. The proposed antenna is a basic PIFA type and has a deformed ground plane under the main radiator. The modified ground plane is spreading the surface current and the antenna miniaturization can be achieved due to the coupling effect. The antenna is manufactured according to the simulation results and the resonance frequency move to low frequency band by 150MHz. And the surface current on the radiator and ground plane is evenly distributed so our suggested antenna can be used for better SAR and HAC performance.

  • In this paper, we proposed the dual-mode stepped impedance ring resonator bandpass filter for MMIC (Microwave Monolithic Integrated Circuit) applications using the dielectric-supported air-gapped microstrip line (DAML). The ring resonator fabricated by surface micromachining technology. This filter consists of a DAML resonator layer and a CPW feed line. The DAML ring resonator is elevated with $10{\mu}m$ height from GaAs substrate surface. This bandpass filter is $1-{\lambda}g$ type stepped impedance ring resonator including dual-mode resonance. From the measurements, we obtained attenuation of over 15 dB and insertion loss of 2.65 dB at the center frequency of 97 GHz. Relative bandwidth is about 12 % at 97 GHz. Furthermore, the proposed bandpass filter is useful to integrate with conventional MMICs.

  • This paper presents a dual band loop-type ground antenna using lumped-elements that control the impedance bandwidth and resonant frequency. The dual-band operation of the proposed antenna is realized by inserting an additional resonated loop feed structure into the reference ground antenna. As the proper value of the capacitor and the inductor are chosen, the impedance bandwidth of our antenna with voltage standing wave ratio(VSWR) equal to 3 is 85 MHz and 725 MHz at the 2.45 and 5.5 GHz frequency band, respectively. Its validity is demonstrated via both the computed and measured results. Good antenna patterns and efficiencies are achieved at the dual frequency bands, as well as the physically small antenna element size($10{\times}5mm^2$).

  • A novel class of planar metamaterial unit-cells consisting of a peace logo pattern is presented. A significant advantage of the proposed peace-logo planar metamaterial (PLPM) unit-cell over existing designs is its tunability, simplicity, and compatibility with microstrip structures. The theoretical analysis is founded on the famous transmission-line theory for the metamaterial concept. Then, the tunable dual-band two-sided PLPM (TSPLPM) unit-cell is designed by printing a similar PLPM pattern at the bottom of the substrate. The influence of the bottom PLPM pattern on the resonance frequencies of the unit-cell was analyzed by performing numerical simulations using CST Microwave Studio 2017 and HFSSv15 simulators. The results of the numerical simulations demonstrated that the proposed TSPLPM has the ability to control the resonance frequencies over 50 GHz-75 GHz for millimeter-wave applications.

  • This paper proposes a new alternating current driving method for highly capacitive loads such as plasma display panels or piezoelectric actuators, etc. In the proposed scheme, a current balance transformer, which has two windings with the same turn-ratio, provides not only a resonance inductance for energy recovery but also a current balance among all of the switching devices of the driver for current stress reduction. The smaller conduction loss than conventional circuits occurs due to the dual conduction paths which are parallel each other in the current balance transformer. Also, the leakage inductances of the transformer are utilized as resonant inductors for energy recovery by the series resonance to the capacitive load. Furthermore, the resonance contributes to the small switching losses of the switching devices by soft-switching operation. To confirm the validity of the proposed circuit, prototype hardware with a 12-inch mercury-free flat fluorescent lamp is implemented. The experimental results are compared with a conventional energy-recovery circuit from the perspective of luminance performances.

  • Purpose: To investigate the exchange and redistribution of hyperpolarized $^{13}C$ metabolites between different pools by temporally analyzing the relative fraction of dual $T_2{^*}$ components of hyperpolarized $^{13}C$ metabolites. Materials and Methods: A dual exponential decay analysis of $T_2{^*}$ is performed for [1-$^{13}C$] pyruvate and [1-$^{13}C$] lactate using nonspatially resolved dynamic $^{13}C$ MR spectroscopy from mice brains with tumors (n = 3) and without (n = 4) tumors. The values of shorter and longer $T_2{^*}$ components are explored when fitted from averaged spectrum and temporal variations of their fractions. Results: The $T_2{^*}$ values were not significantly different between the tumor and control groups, but the fraction of longer $T_2{^*}$ [1-$^{13}C$] lactate components was more than 10% in the tumor group over that of the controls (P < 0.1). The fraction of shorter $T_2{^*}$ components of [1-$^{13}C$] pyruvate showed an increasing tendency while that of the [1-$^{13}C$] lactate was decreasing over time. The slopes of the changing fraction were steeper for the tumor group than the controls, especially for lactate (P < 0.01). In both pyruvate and lactate, the fraction of the shorter $T_2{^*}$ component was always greater than the longer $T_2{^*}$ component over time. Conclusion: The exchange and redistribution of pyruvate and lactate between different pools was investigated by dual component analysis of the free induction decay signal from hyperpolarized $^{13}C$ experiments. Tumor and control groups showed differences in their fractions rather than the values of longer and shorter $T_2{^*}$ components. Fraction changing dynamics may provide an aspect for extravasation and membrane transport of pyruvate and lactate, and will be useful to determine the appropriate time window for acquisition of hyperpolarized $^{13}C$ images.
