Recently, there has been a growing interest in the processing of continuous queries over multiple data streams. When the arrival rates of tuples exceed the memory capacity of the system, a load shedding technique is used to avoid the system becoming overloaded by dropping some subset of input tuples. In this paper, we propose an effective load shedding algorithm for multi-way windowed joins over multiple data streams. Most previous load shedding algorithms estimate the productivity of each tuple, i.e., the number of join output tuples produced by the tuple, based on its "join attribute value" and drop tuples with the lowest productivity. However, the productivity of a tuple cannot be accurately estimated from its join attribute value when the join attribute values are unique and do not repeat, or the distribution of the join attribute values changes over time. For these cases, we estimate the productivity of a tuple based on its "arrival order" on data streams, rather than its join attribute value. The proposed method can effectively estimate the productivity of a tuple even when the productivity of a tuple cannot be accurately estimated from its join attribute value. Through extensive experiments and analysis, we show that our proposed method outperforms the previous methods in terms of effectiveness and efficiency.
This study is aimed at the effective measurement plan of discontinuity orientation on rock mass. The discontinuity orientation is expressed as three methods. strike/dip. dipdirection/dip (a three digit number / a two digit number) and right hand rule. Generally, strike/dip is measured with clinometer. and dipdirection/dip with silva compass(type15). A sign of strike/dip. discontinuity orientation is used to geological survey. and dipdirection/dip to engineering. Dipdirection/dip converted by strike/dip measured with clinometer is useful on the statistical analysis of a lot of data. To measure the azimuth of the dip with clinometer and to change strike/dip to dipdirection/dip may have potential errors in each person. The newly designed apparatus, clinometer equipped by a rotational azimuth plate and an arrow to measuring strike and dipdirection, has been developed to measure effectively the discontinuity orientation with two method (strike/dip and dipdirection/dip). The measuring method of discontinuity orientation with clinometer having newly designed apparatus is effective one for accurate measurement of strike as well as dipdirection which is degrees counted clockwise from true north. Used by clinometer with newly designed apparatus, concurrent measuring strike/dip and dipdirecton/dip of discontinuity is possible. In application to measuring discontinuity orientation on rock slope, it has been recognized that the newly designed method, unambiguously, led to drop measuring errors comparing with existing measuring apparatuses. Therefore, it is considered that measuring method of discontinuity orientation (strike/dip and dipdirecton/dip) by the newly designed apparatus is useful to one in geological engineering investigation of road design, and to unskilled investigator.

Purpose : For practical application of the MR image for stereotactic radiosurgery, the target point achieved by acquisition of MR image in a relatively homogeneous phantom has to agree with the actual isocenter of irradiation in real radiosurgery and the amount of distortion of the MR image should be known. Materials and Methods : A dosimetric film with a random target point was inserted into a radish vertically and horizontally on axis Z and they were fixed with a headring. After image acquisition by stereotactic radiosurgery planning system, we achieved stereotactic coordinate of the target point and examined irradiation using the coordinate acquired as isocenter. After the irradiation, the film in the radish was developed and processed and the degree of coincidence between the target point marked on the film and the center of the radiation distribution. In order to measure the degree of distortion of the MR image in a different way, an acryl phantom was made and punctures were made at intervals of 1 cm and a drop of oil was dropped into it. Then, it was inserted into the radish vertically and horizontally on axis Z to acquire the MR image. Each coordinate was achieved and the estimation of distortion of MR image was made both in vertical and horizontal directions Results : The film from the radio was developed and for the one inserted vertically on axis Z, there was a good coincidence in the discrepancy between the target point marked on the film and the center of the radiation distribution. For the one inserted horizontally, the discrepancy between them was under 0.5 mm. As a result of estimating distortion of MR image using acryl, the discrepancy was under 0.45 mm in the case of the phantom inserted vertically on axis Z, and that of the one inserted horizontally was 1.4 mm. Conclusion : We were able to confirm good coincidence in homogeneous phantom in actual treatment position of radiosurgery using the MR image and the discrepancy measured in the analysis of distortion of the MR image did not exceed the permissible level. Therefore, it was evident the system of the hospital is suitable for radiosurgery using MR image.

To treat wastewater efficiently by a one-step process of nitrogen removal, a new bacterial strain producing $N_2$ gas from ${NH_4}^+$ under an aerobic condition was isolated and identified. The cell was motile and a Gram-negative rod, and usually occurred in pairs. By 16S-rDNA analysis, the isolated strain was identified as Enterobacter asburiae with 96% similarity. The isolate showed that the capacity of $N_2$ production under an oxic condition was approximately three times higher than that under an anoxic condition. Thus, the consumption of ${NH_4}^+$ by the isolate was significantly different in the metabolism of $N_2$ production under the two different environmental conditions. The optimal conditions of the immobilized isolate for $N_2$ production were found to be pH 7.0, $30^{\circ}C$ and C/N ratio 5, respectively. Under all the optimum reaction conditions, $N_2$ production by the immobilized isolate resulted in reduction of ORP with both the consumption of DO and the drop of pH. The removal efficiencies of $COD_{Cr}$, and TN were 56.1 and 60.9%, respectively. The removal rates of $COD_{Cr}$, and TN were the highest for the first 2.5 hrs with the removal $COD_{Cr}/TN$ ratios of 32.1, and afterwards the rates decreased as reaction proceeded. For application of the immobilized isolate to a practical process of ammonium removal, a continuous operation was executed with a synthetic medium of a low C/N ratio. The continuous bioreactor system exhibited a satisfactory performance at 12.1 hrs of HRT, in which the effluent concentrations of ${NH_4}^+$-N was measured to be 15.4 mg/L with its removal efficiency of 56.0%. The maximum removal rate of ${NH_4}^+$-N reached 1.6 mg ${NH_4}^+$-N/L/hr at 12.1 hrs of HRT(with N loading rate of $0.08\;Kg-N/m^3$-carrier/d). As a result, the application of the immobilized isolate appears a viable alternative to the nitrification-denitrification processes.

The heat generation rate in a telecommunications cabinet keeps increasing due to the increased usage of mobile devices. Insufficient removal of the heat increases the cabinet temperature, which results in the malfunction of the electronic devices. In this study, tests were conducted on aluminum and plastic heat exchangers for cooling a telecommunications cabinet, and the results were compared with theoretical predictions. The aluminum heat exchanger comprised counter flow parallel channels with 4.5-mm pitch, and the plastic heat exchangers comprised cross or cross-counter flow triangular channels with 2.0-mm pitch. The volume of the cross flow heat exchanger was the same as that of the aluminum heat exchanger, and the volume of the cross-counter heat exchanger was 33% larger than that of the aluminum heat exchanger. The results show that the heat transfer rate is the highest for the cross-counter heat exchanger and lowest for the aluminum one. The temperature efficiency of the cross-counter heat exchanger was 56% higher than that of the aluminum one and 20% higher than that of the cross flow heat exchanger. The pressure drop of the cross-counter heat exchanger was approximately the same as that of the aluminum one. The heat exchange efficiency was the highest for the cross-counter heat exchanger and lowest for the cross flow heat exchanger. The theoretical analysis somewhat overestimated or underestimated the data.

This study reports on the development and performance verification of cell simulation boards of simulator and the embedded program for board control of the battery management system (BMS) of electric vehicle (EV) cars, which manages the next-generation automotive lithium-ion battery pack. Here, we have improved the speed of the simulator by using operational (OP) amplifier and transistors that were connected in series. In addition, using a digital analog converter (DAC) in each channel, we have improved the performance by channel-to-channel isolation (isolation) as compared to the traditional methods. Furthermore, by constructing a current-limiting protection circuit, one can be protected from disturbance and, by utilizing a precision shunt resistor for the current sensor, we have increased the precision of the current control. In order to verify the performance of the developed simulator, we have performed the experiment 10 times, with values ranging from 0.5 V to 5 V, and a voltage drop step of 0.5 V. Significance analysis of experimental data, and repeatability tests were performed, showing an average standard deviation of 0.001~0.004 V, indicating high repeatability and high statistical significance of the current method and system.

Depressurization occurs around underwater objects moving at high speeds. This causes cavitation nuclei to expand, resulting in cavitation. Cavitation is accompanied by an increase in noise and vibration at the site, particularly in the case of thrusters, and this has a detrimental ef ect on propulsion performance. Therefore, predicting cavitation is necessary. In this study, an analytical method for cavitation noise is developed and applied to an elliptic wing. First, computational fluid dynamics are performed to obtain information about the flow fields around the wing. Then, through the cavitation nuclei density function, number of cavitation nuclei is calculated using the initial radius of the nuclei and nuclei are randomly placed in the upstream with large pressure drop around the wing tip. Bubble dynamics are then applied to each nucleus using a Lagrangian approach for noise analysis and to determine cavitation behavior. Cavitation noise is identified as having the characteristics of broadband noise. Verification of analytical method is performed by comparing experimental results derived from the large cavitation tunnel at the Korea Research Institute of Ships & Ocean Engineering.
A novel cooling method induced by acoustic streaming generated by ultrasonic vibration at 30㎑ is presented. Ultrasonic vibration is obtained by piezoelectric devices and the maximum vibration amplitude of 50 m is achieved by including a horn, mechanical vibration amplifier in the system and making the complete system resonate. To investigate the enhancement of heat transfer capability of acoustic streaming, the temperature variations of heat source and air in the vicinity of heat source are measured in real-time. It is observed that acoustic streaming is instantly induced by ultrasonic vibration, resulting in the significant temperature drop due to the bulk air flow caused by acoustic streaming. In addition, it is observed that the cooling effect on the heat source is maximized when the gap between the ultrasonic vibrator and heat source coincides with the multiples of half-wavelength of the ultrasonic wave. This fact results from the resonance of the sound wave. The theoretical analysis of the dependence on the gap is also accomplished and verified by experiment. The advantage of the proposed cooling method by acoustic streaming is noise-free due to the ultrasonic vibration and maintenance-free because of the absence of moving parts. Moreover. This cooling method can be utilized to the nano and micro-electro mechanical systems, where the fan-based conventional cooling method can not be employed.

Motor imagery based Brain-computer Interface(BCI), which has recently attracted attention, is the technique for decoding the user's voluntary motor intention using Electroencephalography(EEG). For classifying the motor imagery, event-related desynchronization(ERD), which is the phenomenon of EEG voltage drop at sensorimotor area in ${\mu}$-band(8-13Hz), has been generally used but this method are not free from the performance degradation of the BCI system because EEG has low spatial resolution and shows different ERD-appearing band according to users. Common spatial pattern(CSP) was proposed to solve the low spatial resolution problem but it has a disadvantage of being very sensitive to frequency-band selection. Discriminative filter bank common spatial pattern(DFBCSP) tried to solve the frequency-band selection problem by using the Fisher ratio of the averaged EEG signal power and establishing discriminative filter bank(DFB) which only includes the feature frequency-band. However, we found that DFB might not include the proper filters showing the spatial pattern of ERD. To solve this problem, we apply a band-selection process using CSP feature vectors and linear discriminant analysis to DFBCSP instead of the averaged EEG signal power. The filter selection results and the classification accuracies of the existing and the proposed methods show that the CSP feature is more effective than signal power feature.

The enhanced distributed channel access (EDCA) of IEEE 802.11e has been standardized for supporting Quality of Service (QoS) in wireless LANs. In the EDCA, support of QoS can be achieved statistically by reducing the probability of medium access for lower priority traffics. In other words, it provides statistical channel access rather than deterministically prioritized access to high priority traffic. Therefore, lower priority traffics affect the performance of higher priority traffics. Consequently, at the high loads, the EDCA does not guarantee the QoS of multimedia applications such as voice and video even though it provides higher priority. In this paper, we propose a simple and effective scheme, called deterministic priority channel access (DPCA), for improving the QoS performance of the EDCA mechanism. In order to provide guaranteed priority channel access to multimedia applications, the proposed scheme uses a busy tone for limiting the transmissions of lower priority traffics when higher priority traffic has data packets to send. Performance of the proposed scheme is investigated by numerical analysis and simulation. Our results show that the proposed scheme outperforms the EDCA in terms of throughput, delay, jitter, and drop under a wide range of contention levels.
