  • In this paper, a method of modeling seat belts on crew seat during dynamic seat testing was studied. The body segments of the occupant were modeled with joints. The joints consisted with various stiffnesses, dampings, and frictions. Three types of seat belt restraint systems were investigated. The analysis for on the injury assessment of helicopter's crew under drop impact was conducted. The effectiveness of the seat belt system for crashworthiness and safety was evaluated. As the results of impact analysis, head, neck and spine of the crew can be easily damaged in the vertical direction more than the longitudinal direction. Based on the verified model, behavior of human body was studied with three-point restraint systems. The displacement and injury level of the 12-point restraint system was the smallest.

  • The experimental and numerical studies of the single-phase flow pressure drop in parallel micro-channels were performed. The parallel micro-channels consisted of 15 channels with depth 0.2mm, width 0.45mm and length 60mm. The FC-72 was used as the working fluid and the mass fluxes ranged from 62.8 to $1371.6kg/m^2s$. The numerical analysis was performed iterative calculations to solve governing equations and finds the appropriate value. The experimental data was compared with the numerical data, the results showed good agreement with the numerical data.

  • Suction valve fluttering is generated by reciprocating motions of the piston inhaling and discharging process of gas in the hermetic compressor. A reactive type suction muffler, which produces high pressure-drop because of its complicated flow path, controls the impulsive noise radiated from the flutter of suction valve. The high-pressure drop in the muffler increases the transmission loss, but reduces the EER(Energy Efficiency Ratio) of the compressor. We consider how to design the high acoustic attenuation and low pressure-drop performance to take account of the acoustic and flow performances of the suction muffler. In this study, we identified the suction noise source of compressor from the measurement of the acoustic pulsation and flutter of suction valve. We analyzed the acoustic characteristics of muffler using the finite element method, and compared the experimental and analytical characteristics of flow path of suction muffler. Theoretical predictions and experimental results are compared from the viewpoint of the acoustic performance and energy efficiency of the compressor.

  • Dynamic characteristics of the short circuit mode are investigated using the Volume of Fluid (VOF) method. When the initial molten drop volume, contact area and wire feed rate are given, rate change of the molten bridge profiles, pressure and velocity distributions are predicted. The electromagnetic force with proper boundary conditions are included in the formulation to consider the effects of welding current. It is found that the molten metal is transferred to the weld pool mainly due to the pressure difference caused by the curvatures in the initial stage, and electromagnetic force becomes dominant factor in the final stage of short circuit transfer. Necking occurs at the contact position between the molten drop and weld pool, and the initial molten drop volume and welding current have significant effects on break-up time.

  • Two-dimensional Stokes flows through a micro channel with a couple of symmetric vertical fins are investigated. At far up- and down-stream from the fins, the plane Poiseuille flow exists in the channel. The slip boundary conditions are applied to take account of the Knudsen number effects. For the analysis, the method of eigen function expansion and collocation method are employed. By the results, the streamline patterns and pressure distributions are shown and the force exerted on the fin and the excess pressure drop due to the fins are determined as functions of the length of the fin and Knudsen number. It may be conjectured that the force and the excess pressure drop are almost independent of the Knudsen number.

  • In this paper, we have proposed a fuel metering unit of ai breathing engine. The proposed valve system consists of a constant pressure drop valve and a metering valve, which are controlled by servovalve. We carried out nonlinear and linear analysis, computer simulation and experimentation to find effects of some factors on system performance. Analysis and experimental results show a good agreement. It is also shown that the system stability is affected by pressure drop of metering valve and inlet pressure of injectors.

  • In this paper, theoretical analysis for metropolitan optical networks is performed. First, analytical optical SNR is derived assuming each node consists of an EDFA, an optical filter, an optical switch, and a VOA, and then the relationship between OSNR and BER is studied. In a metropolitan optical network, an optical signal can be dropped to deliver data, and we also studied the effect of drop loss on system performance. When the drop loss is relatively small, the receiver structure of the node can be treated as a preamplifier receiver which is widely used in long-haul systems. In that case, ASE noise from EDFAs is the dominant noise source in the receiver. However, system performance is relatively insensitive to OSNR when the drop loss is significant because of the noise sources in the receiver (thermal and shot noise).

  • In this paper, the pressure drops were investigated according to the sintered porous wick structure in loop heat pipe(LHP) by theoretical analysis. LHP has the wick only in evaporator for the circulation of working fluid, so utilizes porous wick structure which pore diameter is very small for large capillary force. This paper investigates the effects of different parameters on the pressure drops of the LHP such as particle diameter of sintered porous wick, wick porosity, vapor line diameter, thickness of wick and heating capacity. Working fluid is water and the material of sintered porous wick is copper. According to the these different parameters, capillary pressure, pressure drop in wick were analized by theoretical design method of LHP.

  • In this study, the structural integrity of the spent nuclear fuel assemblies was evaluated by carrying out a 0.3 m drop impact analysis, one of the normal transportation conditions of the nuclear fuel assemblies. For this purpose, the spent nuclear fuel assembly was modeled in detail as beam elements, and a coupled model for impact analysis was developed by inserting the modeled nuclear fuel assemblies into a cask.

  • For the development of the original technique of structural safety assessment of Cargo Containment System(CCS) in membrane type LNG carriers, it is necessary to understand the characteristics of dynamic response behavior of CCS structure under sloshing impact pressure. In the previous study, the wet drop impact response analyses of CCS structure in membrane Mark III type LNG carriers were carried out by using Fluid-Structure Interaction(FSI) analysis technique of LS-DYNA code, and were also validated through a series of wet drop experiments for the enhancement of more accurate shock response analysis technique. In this study, the characteristics of structural shock response behaviors of CCS structure were sufficiently figured out by careful examinations of the effects of specimen weight, drop height, incident angle, corrugation and stiffness of inner hull on its shock response behaviors. The shock response analysis of upward shooting fluid to inner hull was performed, and the reason of faster strain response than shock pressure one was also figured out.
