Single phase SRM(switched reluctance motor) can not be start by itself because positive torque is generated in limited section. Therefore single phase SRM need starting device which is place the rotor in positive torque section when motor is begun to start. The prototype of salient pole rotor type single phase SRM, fabricated in previous research, has permanent magnet starting device. It is installed in bottom of the rotor for starting by itself. But, it is affected the motor when driving and cause the decrease of torque and speed. On this paper, average torque of the prototype was measured according to installation of the starting device or not. And influence of the staring device on average torque was confirmed by comparison of the results.

Torque fluctuation of engine generate gear rattle noise of transmission and many researches have been studied to decrease rattle noise by adjusting clutch damper system. So design optimization of clutch system is very important to decrease rattle noise and need knowing clutch dynamic torque at real vehicle driving condition. This makes it possible to measure clutch dynamic torque by using a small-size magnetic sensor. We install a small-size magnetic sensor on the input shaft of the transmission and measure the relative angular displacement between clutch hub and disc plate. We can obtain the clutch torque correspond to the angular displacement in the clutch torsional characteristics test. The object of this research is to measure clutch dynamic torque on real vehicle condition. Therefore, Clutch dynamic torque is very useful for investigating operating range of clutch according to engine torque and predicting the damping performance of torsional vibration on the powertrain.

PURPOSE: To determine the effect of weight ball throw training as a preparatory exercise before golf practice for 8 weeks on back muscle strength, weight shifting of lower body, head speed of club, and driving distance of amateur golfers. METHODS: A total of 18 subjects were randomly assigned to the experimental group (n=9) and the control group (n=9), respectively. For the experimental group, Weight ball throw training was provided to the height of waist and shoulder similar to golf swing with the following schedule: 3 kg weight ball throw training from the first week to the 4th week; 5 kg weight ball throw training from the 5th week to the 8th week. Before and after 8 weeks of training, back muscle strength, weight shifting of lower body, head speed of club, and driving distance of subjects in the two groups were measured. RESULTS: The experimental group showed significant differences in rotational back extension torque, weight shifting of lower body, head speed of club, and driving distance during golf swing (p<.05). However, the control group only showed significant difference in driving distance during golf swing (p<.05). Back extension torque, weight shifting of lower body, and head speed of club showed significant differences between the two groups during golf swing (p<.05). CONCLUSION: Weight ball throw training can positively change rotational back muscle strength, weight shifting of lower body, head speed of club, and driving distance of amateur golfers. Therefore, it might be used as an effective warming up exercise for amateur golfers.

In this study, the effects of the compressor for the air conditioning system on the fuel economy were experimentally investigated in an actual automobile. This study aims to analyze the level of contribution of the driving torque of the compressor to the fuel economy. A torque sensor, which is directly set on the clutch of the compressor, is developed to obtain data about the compressor load, which influences the fuel efficiency, and then, the reliability of the torque sensor is verified by comparing the results with those of a torque meter in a bench test. An actual automobile equipped with the compressor and torque sensor is operated in a climate wind tunnel in which appropriate facilities are set up to evaluate the fuel efficiency. The compressor driving torque resulting from the difference in the compressor displacement is found to influence the fuel economy, and the fuel economy is found to be worsened by up to 2~3% with an around 11% increase in the compressor displacement under the same conditions.
In this study, electronically controlled automatic transmission adopted on a subcompact model in the market was modelled, and the driving performances of the transmission were simulated with the models. Kinetic and dynamic models of working components are established. The driving simulation program is developed with those models, and the various driving conditions are analyzed. With the results, the dynamic behaviour of the engine and the automatic transmission is easily understood. Especially, the transient performances of torque converter and clutches are deeply analyzed. Skipping the vehicle road test by using this analyzing tool, we can expect the cost down and the reduction of the development period of automatic transmission.

DC motors are used extensively on shipboard, including as the ship's winch operating motor, owing to their simple speed control and excellent output torque characteristics. Moreover, they were used as propulsion motors in the early days of electric propulsion ships. However, mechanical rectifiers, such as brushes, used in DC motors have certain disadvantages. Hence, brushless DC (BLDC) motors are increasingly being used instead. While the electrical characteristics of both types of motors are similar, BLDC motors employ electronic rectifying devices, which use semiconductor elements, instead of mechanical rectifying devices. The inverter system for driving conventional BLDC motors uses a two-phase excitation method so that the waveform of the back electromotive force becomes trapezoidal. This causes harmonics and torque ripple in the phase current switching period in which the winding wire through which the current flows is changed. Researchers have studied and presented various methods to reduce the harmonics and torque ripple. This study applies a cascaded H-bridge multilevel inverter, which implements a proportional-integral speed current controller algorithm in the driving circuit of the BLDC motor for electric propulsion ships using a power analysis program. The simulation results of the modeled BLDC motor show that the driving method of the proposed BLDC motor improves the voltage waveform of the input side of the motor and remarkably reduces the harmonics and torque ripple compared with the conventional driving method.
The hydraulic hybrid vehicle(HHV) is an application of hydrostatic transmission technology to improve vehicle fuel economy and emissions. A relatively lower energy density of hydraulic accumulator and complicated coordinating operations between two power sources require a special energy management strategy to maximize the fuel saving potential. This paper presents a new type of configuration for parallel HHV to minimize the disadvantages of the hydraulic accumulator, as well as a methodology for developing an energy management strategy tailored specially for PHHV. Based on an analysis of the optimal energy distribution between two power sources over a representative urban driving cycle with a Dynamic Programming(DP) algorithm, a fuzzy-based optimal torque management strategy is designed and developed to control the torque distribution. Simulation results demonstrates that the optimal torque management strategy maximizes the advantages of this hybrid type of configuration, and the high power density characteristics of hydraulic technology effectively improve the robustness of the energy management strategy and fuel economy of the PHHV.

Transverse flux machine (TFM) has been considered as a promising driving machine especially at the low-speed applications because it has higher power density, torque and efficiency than the conventional electrical motors. However, it has complicated structure, large torque ripple and sometimes unbalanced magnetic force due to its inherent structure. This paper investigates the characteristics of torque ripple and unbalanced magnetic force of a rotatory two-phase TFM due to the teeth geometry by using the 3-dimensional finite element method, and it develops a rotatory two-phase TFM with herringbone teeth to reduce the torque ripple as well as to eliminate the unbalanced magnetic force.

The Ultrasonic motor(USM) has many good characteristics such as high torque at low speed range, large holding torque based upon frictional force, high speed response, flexible free ferns, compactness in size, low magnetic noise and silentness in motion. Because of having low speed rotation, USM is good as an actuator of a small size direct drive (DD) manipulator. The acturators for the DD manipulators must have good controllability on the speed and torque from zero to maximum value continuously. New method was developed for speed and torque control by the phase difference control of the two-phase driving signals of the motor. Then rule adjustable compliant and dumped motion was realized on the output shaft of the motor by PD control of the output shaft angle.
A new excitation method of switched reluctance moor drive is described in this paper. This motor produces reluctance torque by mutual action between tyro phases as well as conventional self reluctance torque. The change of self inductance and mutual inductance are used to produce torque. This paper suggests the operational principle, the mechanism of torque product and the driving characteristics of Switched Reluctance Motor with 2 phase excitation against conventional SRM experimentally. The energy conversion ratio is increased because the next phase is excited after one phase is already excited. Acoustic noise of SRM with 2 phase excitation is decreased than that of conventional SRM due to the mechanism of torque production.
