In recent years, the driving performance and exhaust sound quality in automobiles have been recognized as important factors, as they maximize the driving fun to fulfil the demands of customers. Therefore, many automobile manufacturers are studying various exhaust pipe shapes to improve sound quality and optimize exhaust pressure. The objective of the exhaust pipe design is to maximize the engine efficiency using optimal exhaust pressure settings. In this study, an exhaust system was fabricated with different junction shapes, and the results were analyzed through various experiments. The exhaust gas pressure acting inside the exhaust pipe was measured using a pressure transducer. Meanwhile, the vibration generated in the vehicle was measured in three axial directions and analyzed. The ground noise generated in the indoor and outdoor of the vehicle was measured, and the noise generated at the maximum output was measured and analyzed.

To reduce backpressure for improving engine power in exhaust system, a large difference of pressure is required, but this is in conflict with the requirement for reducing exhaust noise that needs a small pressure difference. In this paper, the controllable muffler designed by simplifying the structure of the exhaust system has a low backpressure and a proper sound specification to the rotation of engine. The exhaust system in conventional studies has been designed to have maximum noise reduction over the whole driving domain, but due to its complex structure this led to increased backpressure. If the muffler is designed according to the driving frequency, which is a dominant noise component in stationary driving speed, the backpressure is reduced due to the simplified structure of the muffler. Furthermore, a multi-mode muffler able to change structure with varied driving speed was designed.
A sensitivity analysis of the liquid rocket engine has been made. A mode analysis program is used to predict the performance change due to the variation of rocket engine operating environment. The propellant supply pressure and density are the major variables of the operating condition. The material properties of the turbine driving gas is assumed as the function of mixture ratio. The discrepancies of performance change between constant turbine driving gas properties and variable properties are greater for the case of fuel pump inlet pressure change than the oxidizer pump inlet pressure change.
This study was carried out to evaluate the performance of a medium scale rice polisher of 2.5 t/h and to improve its performance for producing the clean rice with high quality. The maximum internal pressure, broken rice ratio. whiteness in the rice polisher were investigated, and the effects of outlet resistance, water spraying rate, shaft revolution speed and rice moisture content on the polishing performance were analyzed to find out proper operating conditions. The conclusions of this study were as follows: 1. In the performance evaluation of the polisher, the broken rice ratio increment of 0.1%, the max. internal pressure of about 11 N/${cm}^2$, and whiteness increment of 2.2~3.7 resulted at the conditions of 20 PS driving power, 950 rpm, 150 cc/min water spraying rate, 44.1 Nㆍcm outlet resistance and about 15% rice moisture content. 2. Though max. internal pressure and whiteness at the 17% rice moisture content were higher than those at the 15% moisture content under the same operating conditions of the polisher, but the broken rice rate at the 17% moisture content was absolutely low compared with that at 15% moisture content. The water spraying effect to reduce broken rice and to increase whiteness was much significant at the 15% moisture content not significant at 17% moisture content. 3. The main parameter of the performance was outlet resistance, and low resistance of about 44.1 Nㆍcm was recommended at the polisher. 4. The proper water spraying rate in the polisher was about 150 cc/min. 5. As the shaft revolution speed decreased from 950 rpm and 800 rpm to 650 rpm, the broken rice ratio increased and whiteness decreased. 6. As the driving power of the polisher increased from 20 PS to 30 PS, the max. internal pressure decreased by about 1~2.5 N/${cm}^2$ and whiteness increased by about 1~2, but the broken rice rate was not changed. 7. The proper operating conditions of the polisher seemed to be the revolution speed of 800-950 rpm, the water spraying rate of about 150 cc/min, the oulet resistance of about 44.1 N.cm and 30 PS driving power.
Power plant industry has been developed at high-capacity, high-technology, and innovation. Steam turbine became the most useful equipment that dominate more than 50% of all the world electricity production. And developed new materials of the turbine blade and extended length of the turbine last blade brought reform in steam turbine performance upgrade. In this paper, when do partial load driving in high-capacity steam turbine, optimum driving method found whether there is something. In operating steam turbine, there is a lot of loss from secondary wake and throttle of the 1st stage nozzle by the biggest leading factor that load fluctuation affects in high-pressure steam turbine performance. Effect of internal efficiency by 1 stage nozzle is the biggest here, but here fluid flow and flow analysis were not yet examined closely definitely. So, Analyzed design data and acceptance performance test result to applying subcritical pressure drum type 560 MW, supercritical-pressure once through type 500 MW, and 800 MW steam turbines actually. In conclusion, at partial load driving, partial arc admission(PAA) is more efficient than full arc admission(FAA) efficiency. This is judged by because increase being proportional with gross energy of stream that is pressure - available energy if pressure of stream that is flowed in to the turbine increases, available energy becomes maximum and turbine efficiency improves. Therefore, turbine performance is that preview that first stage performance fell if decline is serious in partial load because first stage performance changes according to load.

By way of driving a 2-way on/off solenoid hydraulic valve with a pulse width modulation (PWM) signal, control of the pressure in a certain volume is frequently used in various applications. However, the pressure built-up according to the duty ratio and carrier frequency of the PWM signal is not so well understood. In order to clarify the characteristics of 2-way valve hydraulic pressure control systems, in this paper two formula fur the mean and ripple of the load pressure were derived through theoretical analysis. And the accuracy of the derived formula were verified by comparison with the experimental test result. Generally 2-way valve systems are constructed as a bleed-off circuit, while 3-way valves are used as a control element in a meter-in circuit pressure control system. In a bleed-off circuit, the system supply pressure from a hydraulic power pack does not remain constant, but changes according to their external load. In turn, the relief valve in the hydraulic power pack reacts accordingly showing complicated dynamic behavior, which makes an analytical study difficult. In order to resolve the problem, simple but accurate empirical dynamic models fer a bleed-off system were used in the course of formula derivation. As the result, selection criteria for two major control parameters of the driving signal is established and the basic strategy to suppress the unnecessary pressure fluctuation can be provided for a hydraulic pressure control system using a 2-way on/off solenoid valve.
The ventilation system for the efficient operation of the building services systems in the ventilation plan of super high-rise buildings is used to combine smoke control systems. This study evaluated models of super high-rise buildings with four basement levels and 59 stories and investigated the pressure distribution of each floor by the smoke driving forces by numerical analysis. The smoke driving forces on the building of analytical model was analyzed to determine the effects of the ventilation plan and smoke control plane. In addition, when a combination with ventilation and smoke control of the kitchen ventilation damper in the ventilation plan of analysis model building was designed based on the these results, the relationship between the opening and closing force of the damper and smoke driving combined forces to act on the design pressure of the damper by a motion analysis simulation. The driving units of the damper were selected from the analytical results.
Because pile behavior is governed by geotechnical characteristics of surrounding soils, it is therefore necessary to monitor ground responses during pile driving and analyze the relation between the behaviors of pile and ground. In this research, the 57 m long PHC pile was driven into deep soft clay in the Nakdong River estuary area. During and after the pile driving, the ground responses and the residual load of pile have been monitored for about a year, by using piezometers, inclinometers, level posts for surface settlement, and strain gauges in piles etc. As the results, the residual load by the negative skin friction along the pile increased with the dissipation of the excess pore pressure, which was developed by pile driving and reclamation. About 30% of the maximum residual load developed due to the dissipation of the increased excess pore pressure during the driving. It is thus emphasized that most piles driven in clay deposits need to be designed by considering negative skin friction along the pile.

The conversion efficiency, durability and pressure drop of the automotive exhaust catalysts are dependent on the flow distribution within the substrate. Conventional porous medium approaches assuming monolith resistance based on the one-dimensional laminar flow for simulating the flow through the automotive exhaust catalysts over-predict the flow uniformity in the monolith. In this study, additional pressure loss is also considered by accounting for entrance effects due to the oblique flow incident on the front face of monolith as a consequence of flow separation and recirculation within the diffuser. The incorporation of an additional pressure loss improves the predictions for the maximum flow velocity within the substrate. An numerical study has also been conducted for the three-dimensional unsteady incompressible non-reacting flow inside various dual-monolith catalytic converters for the rapid acceleration/deceleration driving.

The APR1400 reactor stud holes can be stuck due to high temperatures, high pressure, prolonged engagement, and load changes according to pressure changes in the reactor. Threaded surfaces of a stud hole should be cleaned for the sealing of pressure in reactor vessel by removing any foreign materials which may exist in the stud holes. Human workers can access to the stud hole for the cleaning of stud holes manually, but the radiation exposure of human workers is increased. Robot is an effective way to work in hazardous area. So we introduced robot for the cleaning of stud holes. Localization of mobile robots is generally based on odometry, but with increased mileage, position errors can be accumulated. In order to eliminate cumulative error and to ensure stability of its driving, laser sensors and new control algorithm were utilized. The distance between the robot and the wall was measured by laser sensors, and the control algorithm was implemented so as to travel the desired trajectory by using the measured values from sensors. The performance of driving and hole sensing were verified through field application, and mobile robot was confirmed to be applicable to the APR 1400 NPP.
