Design and Implementation of the Device Independent RFID Middleware Component for the Next Generation Port-Logistics (차세대 항만물류를 위한 장치 독립형 RFID 미들웨어 구성요소의 설계 및 구현)

  • RFID technology is considered as a promising solution to increase efficiency of port logistics. Especially active RFID technology, such as e-Seal for container security, is receiving attention nowadays. If active RFID system is combined with passive RFID and legacy bar-code system overall efficiency of port logistics can be improved However, due to the device dependent control interface of RFID readers, there are many difficulties in making active-passive combined RFID system environment. In this paper, we introduce Smart Reader Interface (SRI) system, which provides a device independent RFID reader interrace to control different kinds of RFID readers by hiding device dependent control interface through adapter architecture which is similar to device driver of conventional operating systems. The key design objectives of SRI are the followings; conformance to the related standard. efficiency in processing, easy addition of an adapter for a new RFID reader. Actually, the implemented SRI system can support various kinds of commercial RFID readers, and through the test carried out not only in laboratory but also in the container terminal in the GwangYang Port, its practicality is verified.

  • In this paper, we present a framework that is easy to develop, modify, maintain and extend a control and monitoring software for any kinds of instruments. The presented framework is composed of three XML documents (IID, MAP, and CMIML) and two tools (Virtual Instrument Wizard, Generator). Interface information about behaviors and states of instruments is written on IID. Mapping information between the interface information in IID and API of a real instrument driver is written on MAP. Finally information about control and monitoring software is written on CMIML. IID, MAP and CMIML are written with XML format to provide common usage and platform independence of the suggested framework. VI Wizard generates CMIML (platform independent intermediate document) using IID and existing CMIML, and Generator generates source code of a control and monitoring software (platform dependent code) automatically using CMIML and MAP. The suggested framework that automatically generates control and monitoring software based on GUI provides easy development and maintenance. Also, reusability can be increased by reusing platform independent software description documents.

  • Currently, ITS (Intelligent Transport System) system is supporting a variety of services to be enhanced traffic's efficiency and driver's safety as developing of information communications and network technology. High data transfer communications such as Wibro, HSPA and WAVE are used for providing ITS services, but there are some differences from specification and performance applied. So, users who are employing the communication systems to transfer data whatever they want to have been suffering from use. In this paper, it is proposed that user can use various high data transfer communication systems wherever environments they are in using adaptation of system change. Also, it is implemented performance of system which uses alternate communication scheme in mobile terminal based on embedded platform.

  • The accelerated convergence of automobiles and ICT has led to an increase in in-vehicle electronic devices designed to enhance the safety and convenience of drivers. Consequently, the information presentation on in-vehicle display systems for drivers and passengers need to be taken into account in order to guarantee driving stability while satisfying the needs of UX-based design users. This study compared and evaluated requirements for information items shown on in-vehicle displays regarding driving safety and convenience by groups according to driving career. A total of 38 information items related to safety and convenience that can be displayed while driving and pulling over were collected. Their level of necessity was tested and evaluated by 234 drivers. Using the results, we conducted a comparative analysis on the requirements for information presentation on in-vehicle display systems by groups according to driving career.

  • Nowadays, it is animately studied on IoT(Internet of Things) on the strength of development of the short-range communications technology and smart device. In this paper, it made a interface board which is capable of short-range communications networks based on embedded linux and Android OS (operating system). and we also made a IoT sensor module and device driver module. This devices are easily separated and changed and also simply embodied in IoT, and It was implemented using the Android app that allows you to control the sensors.

LabVIEW-based Remote Laboratory Experiments for a Multi-mode Single-leg Converter

  • This study presents the design and implementation of a web-based remote laboratory for a multi-mode single-leg power converter, which is a topic in advanced power electronics course. The proposed laboratory includes an experimental test rig with a multi-mode single-leg power converter and its driver circuits, a measurement board, a control platform, and a LabVIEW-based user interface program that is operated in the server computer. Given that the proposed web-based remote laboratory is based on client/server architecture, the experimental test rig can be controlled by a client computer with Internet connection and a standard web browser. Although the multi-mode single-leg power converter can work at four different modes (main boost, buck-boost, boost-boost, and battery boost modes), only the buck-boost mode is used in the experiment because of page limit. Users can choose the control structure, control parameters, and reference values, as well as obtain graphical results from the user interface software. Consequently, the feedbacks received from students who conducted remote laboratory studies indicate that the proposed laboratory is a useful tool for both remote and traditional education.

  • Visual occlusion method is a visual demand measuring technique which uses periodic vision/occlusion cycle to simulate driving environment. It became one of the most popular techniques for the evaluation of in-vehicle interfaces due to its robustness and cost-effectiveness. However, it has a limitation in that the vision/occlusion cycle forces the user to use the IVIS at a predetermined pace, while a driver decides when to use the device on his/her own in actual driving. This paper proposes a user-driven visual occlusion method for measuring the visual demand of in-vehicle interfaces. An experiment was conducted to examine the visual demand of an in-vehicle interface prototype using both the existing (system-driven) occlusion method and the proposed (user-driven) one. Two in-vehicle tasks were evaluated: address input and radio tuning. The results showed that, for the radio tuning task, there were significant differences in total shutter open time and resumability ratio between the methods. The user-driven visual occlusion method not only allows a better representation of drivers' behavior, but it also seems to provide more information on the chunkability of a task.

  • The Virtual Interface Architecture(VIA) is an industry standard for communication over system area networks(SANs). M-VIA is a software implementation of VIA technology on Linux. In this paper, we implemented the M-VIA on an AceNIC Gigabit Ethernet by developing a new AceNIC driver for the M-VIA. We analyzed the M-VIA data segmentation processes. When a Gigabit Ethernet MTU is larger than 1514 bytes, M-VIA data segmentation size leaves much room for improvement. So we experimented with various MTU and M-VIA data segmentation size and compared the performances.

  • In this thesis, remote conveyor control and monitoring system is designed and Implemented for shoes production process based on Lego prototyping mechanism by using the I/O interface control board for the ISA Interface control board. A conveyor server for real time profess control is implemented based on RTLinux(Real-Time Linux) so that users deride priority of work. And device driver is implemented bated on the RTLinux. Through this system, real-time Client/server monitoring environments Is implemented and tested. And the JMF(Java Media Framework) based monitoring system was implemented and the total processing status war monitored.

  • A haptic device is regarded as the human machine interface technology for easier, more accurate, and intuitive operation. The purpose of this paper is to study how to improve the cognitive ability of the existing vehicle haptic device used only tactile feedback. In this study, usability evaluation used the multi-sensory feedback which is adding auditory feedback to the existing tactile feedback. The emotional factor that drivers have on the haptic device is extracted by the sensibility analysis. The result of study provides some consideration and direction to need in implementation of a haptic device and it also confirms their possibility meaningfully. And it is possible to suggest the design direction that satisfies the driver.
