The driver model during drift cornering was examined, and a technique to improve vehicle movement performance during drift cornering was investigated. Based on the results obtained, the driver was found to steer using feedback of the body slip angle and the body slip angle velocity during drift cornering. Moreover, improvement of the cornering force characteristic, at which exceeded the maximum cornering force calm as much as possible is important.
Steering characteristics is an important factor in the evaluation of vehicle quality. To estimate steering characteristics in the vehicle conceptual design stage, vehicle dynamics simulation methods are very efficient. However, it is often difficult to simulate vehicle dynamics for the specific driving scenarios in open-loop driving environment. An efficient driver-in-the-loop vehicle model will be efficient for this job. A good tire model is also very important for the accurate vehicle dynamics simulation. In this research, a driver model is used to simulate vehicle steering dynamics for a 8-dof vehicle model with STI(Systems Technology, Inc.) tire model. For the demonstration of this model, a SUV(sports utility vehicle) and a sedan were simulated.
This paper reports the aging driver traffic accident severity modeling results. For the modeling, Poisson regression approach is applied using the data set obtained from the Korea Transportation Safety Authority's simulator-based driver aptitude test results. The test items include the estimations of moving objects' speed and stopping distance, drivers' multi-task capability, and kinetic depth perception and so on. The resulting model with the response variable of equivalent property damage only(EPDO) indicated that EPDO is significantly influenced by moving objects' speed estimation and drivers' multi-task capabilities. More interestingly, a comparison with the younger driver model revealed that the degradation of such capabilities may result in severer crashes for older drivers as suggested by the higher estimated parameters for the older driver model.
In this study, a modeling method of power-assisted steering systems and driver models for vehicle dynamic analysis using AUTODYN7 is presented. Pressure-flow relations of flow control valve are derived, and the equations of motion of a steering gear are obtained. Combining pressure-flow relations and equations of motion, the steering force can be represented as a function of steering wheel angle or torque. Driver model was modeled based on a PID controller and forward target method. With the steering systems and driver model, various driving tests are conducted using AUTODYN7.
In this paper, we newly propose a traffic information service model that collects traffic information sensed by an individual vehicle in real time by using a smart device, and which enables drivers to share traffic information on all roads in real time using an application installed on a smart device. In particular, when the driver requests traffic information for a specific area, the proposed driver-personalized service model provides him/her with traffic information on the driving directions in advance by predicting the driving directions of the vehicle based on the learning of the driving records of each driver. To do this, we propose a traffic information management model to process and manage in real time a large amount of online-generated traffic information and traffic information requests generated by each vehicle. We also propose a road node-based indexing technique to efficiently store and manage location-based traffic information provided by each vehicle. Finally, we propose a driving learning and prediction model based on the hidden Markov model to predict the driving directions of each driver based on the driver's driving records. We analyze the traffic information processing performance of the proposed model and the accuracy of the driving prediction model using traffic information collected from actual driving vehicles for the entire area of Seoul, as well as driving records and experimental data.
In this study, a driver model based on the lead-lag controller for stable maneuver of a highly nonlinear, multi-dimensional, numerically stiff multibody vehicle model according to the various handling test requirements such as steady-state cornering, double lange change, etc. is presented The lead-lag controller is developed with lead and lag compensation. which use the transfer function with cross-over frequency by frequency response method. The proposed driver model is applied to a vehicle model in steady-state and slalom maneuver to verify its effectiveness and validity. The results show that the proposed path control strategy is excellent both in pursuing the desired course and stability of the vehicle.

As a new algorithm for RC tree delay estimation, we propose a $\tau$-model of the driver and a moment propagation method. The $\tau$-model represents the driver as a Thevenin equivalent circuit which has a one-time-constant voltage source and a linear resistor. The new driver model estimates the input voltage waveform applied to the RC more accurately than the k-factor model or the 2-piece waveform model. Compared with Elmore method, which is a lst-order approximation, the moment propagation method, which uses $\pi$-model loads to calculate the moments of the voltage waveform on each node of RC trees, gives more accurate results by performing higher-order approximations with the same simple tree walking algorithm. In addition, for the instability problem which is common to all the approximation methods using the moment matching technique, we propose a heuristic method which guarantees a stable and accureate 2nd order approximation. The proposed driver model and the moment propagation method give an accureacy close to SPICE results and more than 1000 times speedup over circuit level simulations for RC trees and FPGA interconnects in which the interconnect delay is dominant.
The drowsiness that occurs in the driving is a very dangerous driver condition that can be directly linked to a major accident. In order to prevent drowsiness, there are traditional drowsiness detection methods to grasp the driver's condition, but there is a limit to the generalized driver's condition recognition that reflects the individual characteristics of drivers. In recent years, deep learning based state recognition studies have been proposed to recognize drivers' condition. Deep learning has the advantage of extracting features from a non-human machine and deriving a more generalized recognition model. In this study, we propose a more accurate state recognition model than the existing deep learning method by learning image and PPG at the same time to grasp driver's condition. This paper confirms the effect of driver's image and PPG data on drowsiness detection and experiment to see if it improves the performance of learning model when used together. We confirmed the accuracy improvement of around 3% when using image and PPG together than using image alone. In addition, the multimodal deep learning based model that classifies the driver's condition into three categories showed a classification accuracy of 96%.
Various technical and societal approaches are being made to realize the auto driving (AD) and cooperative driving (CD) including communication network and extended advanced driver support system is under development. In CD, it is important to share the roles of the driver and the system and to secure the stability of the driving, so a efficient interface scheme between the driver and the vehicle is required. This study proposes a research model including driver, system and driving environment considering the role and function of driver and system in CD. An efficient interface between the driver and the vehicle to cope with various driving situations on the CD using the analysis of the driving environment and the research model is also proposed. Through this study, it is expected that the proposed research model and interface scheme could contribute to CD system design, cockpit module development and interface device development.

This paper proposes an Electronic Throttle Body (ETB) model considering a non-linearity of DC motor driver which is integrated with a H-bridge and a gate driver. A propagation delay and reverse recovery time of switching components cause non-linear characteristic of DC motor driver. This non-linearity affects not only the amateur voltage of DC motor, but also entire behaviour and parameters of ETB. In order to analyze the behavior of ETB more accurately, this non-linear effect of DC motor driver is modeled. The developed ETB model is validated by use of the step response and ramp response experiments, and it shows relatively accurate results compared with linear DC motor driver model.
