In this paper, we propose a fault isolation system for device drivers of the Linux operating system. High availability systems impose stringent requirements upon Linux operating system. Especially device drivers can be a major source of operating system instability and many times contribute to system degradation and outages. The proposed fault isolation system identifies the occurrence of the memory-related faults in device driver and isolates it from the kernel. By operating at the early stage of the page fault handler in Linux kernel, the system detects which module causes fault and isolates it transparently from the remaining part of the kernel. By experiments, we show that the proposed system efficiently detects faults incurred by device driver, isolates the device driver and the process which accessed the driver module from the kernel.

In this paper, simple LED driver is proposed. The proposed driver has simple construction having series capacitor, bridge rectifier, and adjustable regulator IC. Constant current control is possible with the use of TL431Z. The proposed in this paper, current is greater than the rating of the load, the current controller device measures the increased current in the circuit, and turned-on so that the current will be shared. Thus current control device makes the circuit more reliable, longevity as well as increase the luminous efficacy of the LED light. The simulation and experimental results are presented to show the validity of the proposed circuits.
Driver fatigue is a major cause of fatal road accidents and has significant implications in road safety. In recent years, researchers have investigated steering wheel grip force as an alternative method to detect driver fatigue noninvasively and in real time. In this study, a fatigue detection system was developed by monitoring the grip force and changes in the grip force were measured while participants' engaged in an interactive simulated driving task. The study also measured the participants' subjective sleepiness to ensure the validity of measuring grip force. The results indicated that while participants engaged in a driving task, steering wheel grip force decreased and subjective sleepiness increased concurrently over time. The possible applications of the driver fatigue detection system by steering wheel grip force and future guidelines are discussed.
In this paper, we propose the information acquisition and analysis system for a vehicle driver in order to provide the safe driving environments. We first define the list of reckless driving behaviors and propose the recognition system, which recognizes the reckless behaviors, by using the acquired information. The collaboration among the information acquisition, the analysis, and the behavior comparison modules increases the accuracy of the recognition rate. Our system alarms to a vehicle driver in order to notify the potential to confront the dangerous situation due to the abnormal or reckless driving behaviors.

Approximately 1.3 million people die from traffic accidents each year, and smartphone usage while driving is one of the main causes of such accidents. Therefore, detection of smartphone usage by drivers has become an important part of distracted driving detection. Previous studies have used single camera-based methods to collect the driver images. However, smartphone usage detection by employing a single camera can be unsuccessful if the driver occludes the phone. In this paper, we present a driver smartphone usage detection system that uses multiple cameras to collect driver images from different perspectives, and then processes these images with ensemble convolutional neural networks. The ensemble method comprises three individual convolutional neural networks with a simple voting system. Each network provides a distinct image perspective and the voting mechanism selects the final classification. Experimental results verified that the proposed method avoided the limitations observed in single camera-based methods, and achieved 98.96% accuracy on our dataset.
A new multi-level type energy recovery sustaining driver for AC PDP(Plasma Display Panel) is proposed in this paper. The multi-level driver has been developed to reduce the voltage stress on switching elements. Comparing the proposed driver with the conventional multi-level driver, 4 switching elements, 4 diodes, and two auxiliary capacitors are eliminated in the viewpoint of circuit structure. Moreover, the voltage stress on switching elements is more reduced and the sustain period is extended. To verify the validity of the proposed energy recovery circuit, computer simulations using PSpice program are carried out.

Intrusion detection techniques based on virtual machine introspection (VMI) provide high temper-resistance in comparison with traditional in-host anti-virus tools. However, the presence of semantic gap also leads to the performance and compatibility problems. In order to map raw bits of hardware to meaningful information of virtual machine, detailed knowledge of different guest OS is required. In this work, we present VDSM, a lightweight and general approach based on driver separation mechanism: divide semantic view reconstruction into online driver of view generation and offline driver of semantics extraction. We have developed a prototype of VDSM and used it to do intrusion detection on 13 operation systems. The evaluation results show VDSM is effective and practical with a small performance overhead.

Most vehicles having automatic transmission system use fixed standard shift map to provide automatic transmission for driver. In this case, driver who operates vehicle may be complaint with the fixed transmission pattern being different from the driver's intention. In this paper, therefore, to infer the driver's intention module for learning the driver's intention with related input variables using soft computing method is proposed. After inference, the standard shift map will be shifted according to a certain parameter decided from the proposed module for providing proper shift pattern. The efficiency of the proposed module is evaluated by the data acquired from real time driving.

We propose a novel driver circuit design using $0.18{\mu}m$ CMOS process technology that drives a 1550 nm high-speed VCSEL used in optical transceiver. We report a distinct improvement in bandwidth, voltage gain and eye diagram at 3.1Gb/s data rate in comparison with existing topology. In this paper, the design and layout of a 3.1Gb/s VCSEL driver for optical transceiver having arrayed multi-channel of integrating module is confirmed.
