The drawability of AZ31B magnesium sheet is estimated according to the variable temperatures (200, 250, 300, 350 and $400^{\circ}C$), forming speed (20, 50, 100 mm/min), thickness (0.8, 1.4 t), blank holding force (1.0, 1.4, 1.7kN). The deep drawing process (DDP) of circular cup is used in forming experiments. The results of deep drawing experiences show that the drawability is well at the range from 250 to $300^{\circ}C$, 50mm/min forming speed and 1.4kN blank holding force. The 0.8t magnesium sheets were deformed better than 1.4t. BHF was controlled in order to improve drawability and protect the change of cup thickness. When BHF was controlled, tearing and thickness change were decreased and LDR. was improved from 2.1 to 3.0.
It is well known, for many years, that deep drawability can be improved by applying variable blank holding force. To apply variable blank holding force during cup during, we set up pressure controlling system on experimental hydraulic press, and the pressure control system is often called NC(Numerically Controlled) cushion system Using the NC cushion system we compared the drawability of square steel cups with NC cushion and that with conventional cushion. The results show drawability is greatly improved when the pressure control curve is designed in a S-shaped curve. This paper includes design details of the NC cushion system and experimental analysis of drawability with experimental NC cushion system.
Fundamental and informative data of axi-symmetric stretch-drawing of several sheetmetals with thicknesses of 0.7-1.0mm are presented both for single and double operations. Very small radius is applied to the die profile (or-shoulder) ion all operations. to induce wall-thinning by the effect of bending-under-tension from which the name 'stretch-drawing' comes. It is clearly demonstrated that deeper cups could be formed by single and double stretch-drawings from smaller circular blanks due to such wall-thinning action than in the usual deep-drawing of larger blanks, From this fact it is emphasized that the deep-drawability of a sheet metal is not evaluated simply by the conventional L.D.R (limiting drawing ratio) but the depth of the drawn cup should also be taken into account./ Many experimental data about various metals and thicknesses given in this paper offer a valuable information in this process for more general use which recommends to replace the conventional deep-drawing process by the stretch-drawing process both for single and double operations. In the single stretch-drawing it is also confirmed that a deeper cup can be produced by raising the blank-holding force at later stage of operation.
The objective of the current study is to determine cross-sectional profile of intermediate dies in order to improve the plastic strain homogeneity which directly affects not only the dimensional accuracy but also the mechanical properties of final product by redesigning the intermediate dies using the conventional electric field analysis (EFA) method. Initially, the multi-pass shape wire drawing was designed by using the equivalent potential lines from EFA. The area reduction ratio was calculated from the number of passes in multi-pass shape wire drawing but constrained by the capacity of the drawing machine and the drawing force. In order to compensate for a concentration of strain in a region of the cross section of the wire, the process for multi pass wire drawing from initial round material to an intermediate die was redesigned again using the electric field analysis. Both drawing process designs were simulated by the finite element method in which the strain distribution and standard deviation plastic strain of the cross section of drawn wires were examined.
Circular drawbead forming and drawing characteristics of CO2 laser welded SPC1 blanks are investigated by experiments and numerical analysis. During the drawbead forming process, the distributions of major strain on upper and lower skins of the specimens are measured. During the drawing process, the drawing forces and the strain distributions are investigated. For the numerical analysis. DYNA3D and SGTAS, a developed rigid-plastic finite-element computer program are used. Numerical results predicted the deformation characteristics well in comparison with experiments. It is concluded that the strains and restraining forces during the forming and the drawing processes show different patterns according to the combination of welded blanks.
In this research, we developed a pilot wire-drawing machine as well as wire end-pointing roller. Using these machines, we performed a pilot wire-drawing test at different coating material and lubricant when the reduction ratio is 10 %. To inversely compute the friction coefficient between the coating layer of wire and the surface of die for a specific lubricant, we carried out a series of three dimensional finite element analysis. Results show that the drawing force is varied with the coating material of wire at the same reduction ratio and lubricant. It is noted that the frictional coefficient in drawing is dependent on the coupled property of coating material and lubricant, indicating the best coating material for a given lubricant.
In the pultrusion process for the CFRP (Carbon fiber reinforced plastic) rectangular pipe, the drawing device is eseential which can continuously produces products and draws the carbon fiber tow. In addition, since the degree of cure changes depending on the temperature and the temperature ditribution of the curing mold changes depending on the pultrusion speed, the temperature distribution of the curing mold under certain conditions must be studied before processing. In this study, in the pultrusion process using a closed impregnation method, which has several advantages compared to the general pultrusion process using a open bath impregnation method, the drawing force required to pull the carbon fiber tows and the temperature distribution of the curing mold was analyzed to design the drawing device and the curing mold efficiently.
Micron-sized metal wires are widely used in industries such as filtration, catalyst and composite materials, etc. In the wire drawing process, the die that is used conventionally is an effective and, at the same time, sensitive component. However, a typical array of the dies has caused many problems in the wire drawing process, e.g., large frictional force on the interface between wire and the resulting high heat generation, precise adjustment of the dies, extended cooling system, die abrasion, etc.. Because of these problems, there have been many works that are aiming at improving the efficiency of wire drawing process by analyzing the die geometry and by applying advanced die material to prolong the die life or even at developing a dieless wire drawing system. This paper is dealing with developing a new wire drawing system that is applicable to reduce the wire drawing steps with high draw ratio. The new wire drawing system does not use the dies, but use the self-induced heater that works on the basis of the resonant phenomenon of wire material. The electromagnetic wave is the heating source. The results of the study on the diameter reduction and microwave flow analysis show that the heating effectiveness of the wire is influenced by the energy distribution in the microwave propagation chamber. We can obtain diameter-reduced wires by using microwave in the dieless drawing process. Microwave as a heating source is capable of producing wires without applying dies in wire drawing process.
In this study, the experiments of warm deep drawing were done with heated die, and with heated die and cooled punch in order to investigate the formability of ZA31 magnesium sheet alloy of warm deep drawing. For this, warm deep drawing experiments were executed under various temperature, punch velocity and blankholder force. The results of warm deep drawing with heated die showed that fracture occurred punch part at punch velocity of 75mm/min and punch stroke of 10mm under temperature of $100^{\circ}C\~250^{\circ}C$, but did not occure under temperature of $275^{\circ}C\~400^{\circ}C$. And fracture at punch stroke of 25mm did not occurre at punch part under punch velocity of 30mm/min and $250^{\circ}C$, but occured under punch velocity of 75 and 125 mm/min. Also the results of warm deep drawing with heated die and cooled punch showed that the temperature happening maximum height under punch velocity of 10-100mm/min was $225-250^{\circ}C$. And necking occurred at punch shoulder under $20\~150^{\circ}C$, but at die wall under $200\~300^{\circ}C$.
This experiment was conducted in order to find out the drawing performance of a two-wheel tractor under different levels of the soil moisture and hardness, so as to obtain some basic data for improving their drawing performance. With fairly homogeneous soil, 5 levels of soil moisture contents (8, 13, 17, 20 and 23%) and 3 levels of soil hardness (0 , 2 and 4kg/$cm^2$) were selected for this experiment. The summerized results are as follows ;1. The draft force, on the hard soil (hardness ; 4kg/$cm^2$), had a distinct tendency to decrease with the increasing soil moisture. On the medium soil (hardness ; 2 kg/$cm^2$), and the soft soil (hardness ; 0kg$cm^2$), the draft force showed the highest when the moisture contents were within the range of 16-19%.But the maximum draft force, on the soft soil, was higher than that on the medium soil by 10 %. 2. The driving axle torque increased with increasing soil by 10 %. 3.The values of horizontal distance between the soil reaction point and axle shaft were within the range of 0~10cm , and it had the tendency to increase with the increasing soil moisture. Also, it s value was the largest on the hard soil and the smallest on the soft soil. 4.The tractive efficiency decreased with the increasing soil moisture. On the hard soil, the average value of tractive efficiency was higher than that on the medium soil by 19.0% and that on the soft soil was lower than that on the medium soil. 5.The traction ratio were within the range of 30 ~45%, and their changing tendency with respect to the soil moisture was similar to that in the case of the draft force. 6. The travel resistance ratio tended to increased with increasing soil moisture, and the highest value was found on the soft soil, and the lowest on the hard soil.
