Quality Inspection Scheme for Rebar Work Using 3D Scanning Technology (3D 스캐닝을 활용한 철근공사 품질점검 방안)

  • The 3D scanning technology is being introduced for quality inspection of building construction. Therefore, this study tried to confirm whether it is possible to check the quality of rebar by using 3D scanning. After rebar placed on the formwork slab was scanned with a 3D scanner, the rebar spacing was confirmed by overlapping with the CAD drawing. As a result, the 3D scanner was able to check the quality of rebar work on one floor at a time. Therefore, 3D scanning could be used for quality inspection of rebar works such as columns, beam and girders, walls, and slabs in the future.

  • This paper attempts to focus the ways in which Seoul as an urban space can be read and interpreted from gender perspective, assuming Seoul as a cultural text which represents modernity and post-modernity. Drawing on discussions of urban sociology and human geography which have analyzed the relationship between material spaces and social subjects, this paper explores the gendered segregation and representations of space in Seoul which has been constructed through the process of modernization. The framework of spatial interpretation of Seoul, concentrating on imageablity and legibility, consists of three dimensions; gendered division of labour and sphere, dichotomy of representations along with femininity and masculinity, and the ways of interlocking between modernity and post-modernity. In this paper, 'fl$\check{a}$nerie', Benjamin's method of interpretation of urban culture and the way of seeing with 'speculum' of Irigaray are adopted as metaphoric methodologies. It is an attempt to develop a new methodology to analyze and interpret urban space from gender-cultural perspective.

  • An integrated process planning system can determine desirable operation sequences even if they have little experience in the design of multistage cold forging process. This system is composed of seven major modules such as input module, pre-design module, formability check module, forming sequence design module, forming analysis module, FEM verification module, and output module which are used independently or in all. The forming sequence for the part can be determined by means of primitive geometries such as cylinder, cone, convex, and concave. By utilizing this geometrical characteristics(diameter, height, and radius), the part geometry is expressed by a list of the primitive geometries. Accordingly, the forming sequence design is formulated as the search problem which starts with a billet geometry and finishes with a given product one. Using the developed system, the sequence drawing with all dimensions, which includes the dimensional tolerances and the proper sequence of operations for parts, is generated under the environment of AutoCAD. Several forming sequences generated by the planning system can be checked by the forming analysis module. The acceptable forming sequences can be verified further, using FE simulation.

  • An algorithm and its computer program were developed for the computer aided automatic conversion from 2-D design drawing, which includes arbitrary curves, to a 3-D object, and the 3-D object obtained from the developed program was used to generate the tool path of NC milling machine. The algorithm and its computer program developed were applied to several real objects for their feasibility check and showed satisfactory results. Therefore, it was proved that the algorithm and its program developed can be applied to the CAM for the mechanical parts having arbitraily curved shapes by automatically generating its 3-D object. As a result of this study a basic theory for the integration of CAD/CAM was established which will prompt the improved quality and productivity.

  • This paper describes a research work of developing a computer-aided design of blanking and piercing for irregular-shaped sheet metal products. An approach to the development of compact and practical CAB system is based on the knowledge-based rules. Knowledge for the CAD system is formulated from plasticity theories, experimental results and the empirical knowledge of field experts. The system has been written in AutoLISP on the AutoCAD with a personal computer. Based on knowledge-based rules, the system, STRT-DES, is designed by considering several factors, such as complexities of blank geometry and punch profile, availability of press equipment and standard parts, utilization ratio which minimizes the scrap in a single or a pairwise operation, bridge width, grain orientation and design requirements which maximize the strength of the part when subsequent bending is involved. This system checks a forming feasibility with both internal and external features, a dimension of blanked hole, and a corner and a fillet radius for irregualrly shaped sheet metal products. Therefore this system can carry out a die design for each process which is obtained from results of an automated blank layout drawing with a best utilization ratio for irregular shape of product that was successful in production feasibility check module and those of an automated strip layout drawing and generate part drawings and the assembly drawing of die set in graphic forms.

  • This paper describes a research work of developing computer-aided design of lead frame, semiconductor, with blanking operation which is very precise for progressive working. Approach to the system is based on the knowledge-based rules. Knowledge for the system is formulated from pasticity theories, experimental results and the empirical knowledge of field experts. This system has been written in AutoLISP on the AutoCAD using a personal computer and in I-DEAS Drafting Programming Language on the I-DEAS Master Series Drafting with Workstation, HP9000/715(64). Transference of data between AutoCAD and I-DEAS Master Series Drafting is accomplished by DXF(drawing exchange format) and IGES(initial graphics exchange specification) methods. This system is composed of five modules, which are input and shape treatment, production feasibility check, strip-layout, data-conversion and die-layout modules. The process planning and Die design system is designed by considering several factors, such as complexities of blank geometry, punch profiles, and the availability of a press equipment and standard parts. This system provides its efficiecy for strip-layout, and die design for lead frame, semiconductor.

Strip layout drawing generated by piercing with punch profiles divide into automatically for external area is shown into graphic forms, including bending sequences for the product with piercing and bending constraints. Results obtained using the modules enable the designer and manufacturer of piercing and bending dies to be more efficient in this field.

This system is capable of unfolding a formed sheet metal part to give flat pattern and automatically account for the adjustment of bend allowances to match tooling requirements by checking the dimensions and relationships of parts of the folded product. Also this system can carry out a process planning which is obtained from results of irregular shape of product that was successful in production feasibility check module according to flat pattern layout and generate strip layout drawing in graphic forms. The developed system provides its efficiency for flat pattern layout, and strip layout for the irregularly shaped sheet metal products.

  • Stresses of main stop valve and control valve casings for the steam turbines of power plants are analyzed by the finite element method. The stress intensity is obtained to check the results on the basis of the design criteria of ASME boiler and pressure vessel code. To verify accuracy of the finite element analysis. analyzed stresses are compared with those measured during the hydrostatic pressure test. Stress category drawings. which play an important role in evaluating casting defects, are produced from the analysis results, and important points in casting of the valve casings are discussed in terms of the stress category.

  • A computer software which can draw and analyze pneumatic circuits was developed for the purpose of introducing and educating pneumatic circuits to beginners in this field. The program was developed using Turbo Pascal and Turbo Pascal Graphix Toolbox and could be run on IBM PC, XT, AT and other IBM compatible computers with a Hercules Graphics Board. The program was defeloped to show sequential control characteristics and to show two stages(on and off) of the pneumatic actuators. Users may save much time in drawing complex pneumatic circuits and can also use this software to check whether circuits are property designed before constucting real pneumatic circuits.
