A drama, generally composed of dozens of times, is one of the most popular broadcasting program genres, and it has the characteristics that the status and interrelationships of characters are changing as time goes on and important acts affecting the story occur sporadically. Therefore, when viewers missed some times in the middle of a drama, it is difficult to understand the drama without the changed information on the characters and notable actions. This paper proposes a data service which provides the updated information of the characters and important acts based on the drama scene. The data service has the characteristics that it provides the information on the characters shown in the current drama scene, and the information about the people mentioned in the dialogue in the scene. This paper includes a general introduction to the data services, the formal definition of the drama scene identification and character information, and an DVB-SI-based method for transmitting the information to the data service.

The historical drama played on TV in 2003, Daejanggeum is originally based on the short historical record of lady doctor of the palace from the [Jungjong record] of Josun. The drama mixed fiction and historic record well together draw enormous interest and became a novel, musical and animation for children. Also the location of shooting drama became a theme park to attract travelers and the name 'Daejanggeum' was used for products to create great additional value. Most of all, the drama then was exported to overseas and became the representing drama of Korea. Therefore, drama is the representing piece that proved the success of historic data with its application as various modern cultural contents. The analysis of success reason of showed the creation of new modern woman character, fresh selection of the item that suits well in the time of desiring wellbeing, the strong drama scenario with different story development compared to previous historic drama. Also, it used 'one source multi use' method prior to the broadcasting and prepared production of various cultural contents. This success of Daejanggeum means a lot from the point of 'modern acceptance of tradition' to tradition researchers.

TV drama is the entertainment content which is the very popular and profitable program than any other TV program genre. Although recently some broadcasting companies have been tried to set up the drama production system, they don't have the formal system yet. This study analyses the practices and mechanisms of the drama producing process by doing the dept-interview with the experts in the drama production field. The Korean drama production system is 'the producer-director system' and the strategies for the windowing effects are not applied systematically from the pre-production step. For the broadcasting companies to have the competitiveness through drama, the expert-producer system should be applied, the production elements should be controled systematically, and the multi-use strategies should be established.

This study examines how the development and value of dresses shown in MBC historical dramas have changed with the overall change of the dramas. As for the research method, the second data analysis was done with literature study which was supplemented with interviews with the wardrobe team of MBC production design center. Historical dramas produced by MBC have gone through the developmental period, legitimate historical drama-oriented period, stagnant period, and historical dramas-modernized period. The value of costume in each period is as follows: Costume in the developmental period is considered only as part of drama setting. During legitimate historical drama-oriented period, it carries value as educational data and historical replica produced by historical research. Production design including costume obtains its own value in the stagnant period although the production of historical dramas decreases dramatically. And lastly, in the historical dramas-modernized period, costume starts to have commercial value as cultural contents. Historical drama costume may contain important value in terms of education and history, even though there has been controversy on TV historical dramas' role: they should focus on reproducing historical facts or they should support writers' creativity.

This study conducted semiotic analysis of drama . Based on Paradigm, Syntagm concept, I apprehended the characteristics of descriptive structure of drama, characters and contemplated on ideology reflected in the drama. As a result, it has approaching method of Critical Pluralism which strongly exposes resistance ideology. The drama intensified Classical Ideology such as gender role, hero, and family ideology, also it consists of Humane Introspection Ideology such as self-understanding, mutual-understanding, and self-serving bias.

Korean wave which started from Korean drama is continuing its popularity with K-pop in China. This positive effect has lead to increases in Korean product export to China, increase in number of Chinese visitors to Korea and increase in number of Chinese population learning Hangul. In this research, empirical study was conducted to analyze the influence of Korean wave contents (drama, movie, K-pop, games) on Chinese population (their intention to purchase Korean product, visit Korea and learn Hangul.) As the result, it is understood that the most influential Korean wave content on Chinese population's intention to purchase Korean cosmetic and clothing products is drama; it is analyzed that K-pop has noticeable influence as well. Korean drama has the greatest influence on Chinese population's intention to visit Korea, purchase cosmetic or plastic surgery tour package and purchase Korean food. K-pop is analyzed as the second most influential factor among Korean wave contents in this category. Korean wave contents which have the most influence on intention to learn Hangul are Korean drama and K-pop, and it is analyzed that K-pop has greater influence than Hangul in this field.

This research wanted to examine what narratives and discourse were being formed in web drama contents young generations were going crazy about. To understand the characteristics of such love epics and to know what narratives were being formed based on narrative structures and comments, this research specifically used the web drama produced up to the season 4 for the first time in Korean web drama history with a large number of accumulated views. It was found that the narratives of the drama composed the romantic relationships of four couples as independent episodes, and realistically highlighted separations and reunions of those couples, and suggested concrete methods to solve agonies and conflicts they would experience in such relationships. And, in user comments, there emerged relational narratives confusing friendship and love between partners of opposite sex, narratives regarding the third person as enemy, and narratives on typical sex roles in such romantic relations. And, the culture seeking subjective love style and sharing and sympathizing with the love histories also appeared.

The recent growth of the national film and broadcasting industry and the international success of korean films and dramas have resulted in enlarging the financial investment of overall film and drama producing system. Many of local governments contend in the inducement of the drama and movie production because building a drama or movie set help to grow the local business. However, the effort of local governments has rarely achieved the long-term effect. The purpose of this paper is to examine the successful examples of the local specialization as drama or movie set, to compare them with other countries, and to analyze the systematic cause of their success. Moreover, this paper tries to suggest few principles to preplan the successful inducement, to increase the positive outcome, and to invigorate the local area.

2002 was the first year that the export of Korean TV programs exceeded the import. Particularly, there is no doubt that dramas, as for a genre, dominated the market, from 64.3% in 2001 to 93.6% in 2003. Especially, the increasing demand from the Chinese block such as Taiwan, China and the neighbor countries like Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the preference of Korean drama in Japan shows the continuation of booming Korean wave. Questions frequently asked in this current circumstance may be what kind of dramas are better to be exported and to which country Korean dramas are exported. Based upon those needs, this paper examines the determining factors of Korean drama exports to foreign countries. Especially, this study examines the internal factors to the drama influencing export by countries. For this study, 594 Korean dramas aired on MBC and exported between 2002 and 2005 will be analysed by chi-square analysis.

This study discussed how the Moo-hyup prototype that has been formed from novels and comics was applied to TV drama in modern form beyond martial art movies, historical TV series and games by exploring Japanese TV drama . This study showed that follows the Moo-hyup prototype such as imaginary space and violence, the relationship between characters with the spirit of Moo-hyup, and the structure of Moo-hyup story rather than a story of teenagers' growing-up. This study is ultimately expected to reveal the possibility that the Moohyup prototype can be applied to the TV drama in modern form as well as historical stories.
