  • The use of preformed polymers and their cross-linking has been attempted in order to improve the intrinsic fragility of monolayers and Langmuir-Blodgett(LB) films. The evaluation of the characteristics of the LB multi-layer by using an AT-cut quartz crystal has been also attempted. This study reveals that the polyether pendants of 2C18VE3 lie at the air-water interface at low surface pressures and are forced down into the subphase when the monolayers are compressed. This characteristic behavoir of the pendant polyethers is very clear on aqueous poly allyl amine(PAA) and is also observeable on saturated aqueous NaCl and $CaCl_{2}$. And the characteristics of LB multi-layers could be evaluated by using AT-cut quartz crystal in situ.

  • An analysis of the main factors and its degree of impact on power production is performed against the landfill gas power plant in S landfill site. The number of normal operation (50 MWh & 24 hr) days was 70.9% to the total number of operation days from 2007 to 2014, and the percentage of the actual power production was 79.3% of 3,428,400 MW which is the theoretical maximum estimation. The ratio of factors that accounted for the efficiency of power production are: 44.0% of repairing of the defect and regular servicing, 37.4% of cut-down operation due to hydrogen sulfide, and 18.6% of air pre-heater washing, respectively. Yet, considering that the cut-down operation due to hydrogen sulfide was carried out for only two years, the high concentration of hydrogen sulfide was the most influential factors on landfill gas power production. The long-term power production was analyzed as 35.9 MWh in 2018, and the constant drop is anticipated, resulting in 16.6 MWh by 2028, and under 8.4 MWh in 2038.

  • This paper presents the effects of the cutting speed and feed rate on the axial shape of flat end-milled down cut side walls. Experiments were performed using the cutting speed, tool diameter, and feed per tooth as variables, and the thrust force and axial shape were measured as the experimental results. The results of this study confirmed that a smaller feed per tooth, which is proportional to the value obtained by dividing the feed rate by the cutting speed, results in a higher axial shape accuracy. In addition, the axial shape can be simplified to a form in which two straight lines having different slopes meet at a singular point. Therefore, it was concluded that the shape accuracy could easily be estimated during the operation and improved by adjusting the feed per tooth.

  • To eliminate foreign substance like metal rust and sand in natural gas pipeline, 250um strainer filter is used present in Korea Gas Corporation. But particles smaller than 250um passing the filter have bad effects to the valves and the measuring equipments. In order to eliminate small paticle in the pipeline, it is necessary to cut down the pore size of filter When we cut down the pore size of filter, the pressure difference between the front of filter and that of the rear part is increasing and disturb normal condition of gas supply. So it is very important to control the condition between the pore size of filter and the pressure difference. In this study, using head loss coefficient K, the estimation method of efficiency of gas filter according to the pore size and the pressure difference is presented.

  • We previously found cytotoxic effects of tomato leaf extract (TLE) on the MCF-7 breast cancer cell line. The aim of this study was to ascertain the molecular mechanisms associated with the usage of TLE as an anticancer agent by microarray analysis using mRNA from MCF-7 breast cancer cells after treatment with TLE for 1 hr and 48 hrs. Approximately 991 genes out of the 30,000 genes in the human genome were significantly (p<0.05) changed after the treatment. Within this gene set, 88 were significantly changed between the TLE treated cells and the untreated MCF-7 cells (control cells) with a cut-off fold change >2.00. In order to focus on genes that were involved in cancer cell growth, only twenty-nine genes were selected, either down-regulated or up-regulated after treatment with TLE. Microarray assay results were confirmed by analyzing 10 of the most up and down regulated genes related to cancer cells progression using real-time PCR. Treatment with TLE induced significant up-regulation in the expression of the CRYAB, PIM1, BTG1, CYR61, HIF1-${\alpha}$ and CEBP-${\beta}$ genes after 1 hr and 48 hrs, whereas the TXNIP and THBS1 genes were up-regulated after 1 hr of treatment but down-regulated after 48 hrs. In addition both the HMG1L1 and HIST2H3D genes were down-regulated after 1 hr and 48 hrs of treatment. These results demonstrate the potent activity of TLE as an anticancer agent.

  • The charge/discharge capacity of natural graphite anode in lithium secondary batteries was examined as a function of charge/discharge rate. When the natural graphite anode was galvanostatically cycled in the range of 0.0-2.0V $(vs.\;Li/Li^+)$, the charging capacity decreased with an increase in the charging rate, which is caused by an earlier approach to the charging cut-off (0.0 V) before the complete charging that is in turn caused by an ever-increasing overpotential at higher rates. Even if the overpotential of discharging reaction also increased at higher discharge rates, the discharging reaction took place in the range of 0.0-0.3 V that is far below the discharge cut-off (2.0 V). As a result, the discharge capacity was not affected by the discharge rate because all the lithium ions once intercalated are fully discharged even at high current condition. As the overpotential of lithium deposition reaction also increased at high current condition, the charge capacity of natural graphite could be enlarged by lowering the charging cut-off voltage below 0.0 V, There is, however, a limitation for the lowering of cut-off voltage because the resistance for lithium deposition is smaller than that of lithium intercalation into graphite. When the charge cut-off voltage was lowered down to -0.04 V under IC condition, lithium ions were inserted into graphite without lithium deposition such that the discharge capacity could be raised up to $11\%$.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the land-use changes in the coastal areas using system dynamics modeling and to provide directions for effective management to maintain coastal dune areas. This research process consists of four steps: First, we built the basic model based on the causal loop diagram which was analyzed the land-use change of Sindu-ri Coastal Dune. Second, a time series land-use change map using Arc Map was established. Third, the validity of the basic model was tested. Finally, three simulations were performed for the cut over area($100,000m^2/y$, $150,000m^2/y$, $200,000m^2/y$) of windbreak for maintaining the coastal dune areas. Simulation of the basic model showed that the area of the coastal dune will be consistently decreased. Based on the simulation, if windbreak were cut down $150,000m^2/y$, windbreak area will be restored to the target area in 2019. This study has the limitation which the simulation is progressed with a limited variable: area. Therefore, the modeling of coastal dune should be reflected various variables in the further study.

  • It is generally believed that the high energy emissions from isolated pulsars are emitted from relativistic electrons/positrons accelerated in outer magnetospheric accelerators (outergaps) via a curvature radiation mechanism, which has a simple exponential cut-off spectrum. However, many gamma-ray pulsars detected by the Fermi LAT (Large Area Telescope) cannot be fitted by simple exponential cut-off spectrum, and instead a sub-exponential is more appropriate. It is proposed that the realistic outergaps are non-stationary, and that the observed spectrum is a superposition of different stationary states that are controlled by the currents injected from the inner and outer boundaries. The Vela and Geminga pulsars have the largest fluxes among all targets observed, which allows us to carry out very detailed phase-resolved spectral analysis. We have divided the Vela and Geminga pulsars into 19 (the off pulse of Vela was not included) and 33 phase bins, respectively. We find that most phase resolved spectra still cannot be fitted by a simple exponential spectrum: in fact, a sub-exponential spectrum is necessary. We conclude that non-stationary states exist even down to the very fine phase bins.

  • In this paper, a new loopback BIST structure which is effective to test RF transceiver chip and LNA(Low Noise Amplifier) in the chip is presented. Because the presented BIST structure uses a baseband processor in the chip as a tester while the system is under testing mode, the developed test technique has an advantage of performing test application and test evaluation in effectiveness. The presented BIST structure can change high frequency test output signals to a low frequency signals which can make the CUT(circuits under test) tested easily. By using this technique, the necessity of RF test equipment can be mostly reduced. The test time and test cost of RF circuits can be cut down by using proposed BIST structure, and finally the total chip manufacturing costs can be reduced.
