Pharmacokinetics of Lithium Carbonate in Rabbits with Experimental Renal Failure (실험적(實驗的) 신장장애(腎臟障害) 가토(家兎)에서 탄산리튬의 약물동태학적(藥物動態學的) 연구(硏究))

  • The pharmacokinetics of lithium carbonate were investigated in rabbits with folate-induced renal failure. The blood level, the area under the blood concentration curve (AUC) and the biological half·life were increased significantly, and the urinary excretion was decreased significantly compared with those of normal rabbits. Correlation of serum creatinine concentration and AUC, biological half-life, and correlation of creatinine clearance and renal clearance of lithium carbonate have linear relationship respectively. In short, dosage regimen of lithium carbonate is considered to be adjusted in the dose size and the dosing interval by degree of experimental renal failure.

  • This experiment was performed to investigate the electrocardiographic changes in experimentally induced hypocalcemia and hypercalcemia in Korean black goats by dosing with 5% disodiumethylene diamine tetraacetic acid at 0.07$m\ell$/kg body weight/min and 10% Ca-borog-luconate at 0.075 $m\ell$/kg body weight/min, respectively. the result were summarized as follows: Heart rate, S-T segment and Q-Tc interval at 3.23 ${\pm}$ 0.10mEq/L plasma calcium level(hypocalcemia) were increased to 100${\pm}$10.5 rate/min, 132 ${\pm}$10msec and 510${\pm}$40msec, respectively. Heart rate, S-T segment and Q-T interval at 6.89${\pm}$0.23mEq/L plasma calcium level(hypercalcemia) were decreased to 73.2${\pm}$5.16 rate/min, 87${\pm}$10msec and 372${\pm}$30msec, respectively. The degree of changes of the heart rate, S-T segment and Q-Tc interval at low plasma calcium level was higher than those at high plasma calcium level.

  • In this research, the genotoxic effect of Picrorrhiza Rhizoma (PR) aqueous extract was evaluated using the mouse micronucleus test. PR extract was administered once a day for 2 continuous days by oral gavage to male ICR mice at doses of 2000, 1000 and 500 mg/kg. Cyclophosphamide was used as a known genotoxic agent in a positive control. The appearance of a micronucleus (MN) in polychromatic erythrocyte (PCE) is used as an index for genotoxic potential, and PCE ratio is used as an index of cytotoxicity. Although significant (p < 0.01) increase of the number of PCE with one or more nuclei (MNPCE) was detected in cyclophosphamide treated groups, no significant increases of MNPCE numbers were observed in all three different dosages of PR extracts treated mice with over 0.39 of the individual polychromatic erythrocyte ratio in all mice used in this study. The results obtained indicated that PR extract shows no genotoxicity effects up to 2000 mg/kg dosing levels.

  • This study was carried out to investigate the inhibitory effects of red ginseng extract on preneoplastic nodule formation in the rat liver using a rapid bioassay of hepatocarcinogenesis. Wistar male rats in test groups were fed diets containing 3.0, 0.3 or 003% of red genseng extract for 6 weeks after 2 week of dosing with diethylnitrosamine (DEAN, 200 mg/kg B.W., I.P.) or saline solution. The rats in the control groups were treated with DENA or saline alone. Three weeks after the beginning of the experiment, the two-thirds partial hepatectomy was performed on all animals. The inhibitory effects were investigated by measuring the number, total area and size of hyperplastic nodules enhanced by the 2/3 partial hepatectomy following induction with DENA. The results obtained were summarized as follows: 1. In general, the body weight gains of the rats fed diets containing red ginseng extract were higher than those of other groups.

  • This study was performed to evaluate the general toxicity of novel Pt(II) complexes, (KHPC-002: [Pt(trans-1-dach) (DPPE)].2NO$_3$, KHPC-005: [Pt(cis-dach)(DPPE)].2NO$_3$ and KHPC-006: [Pt(cis-dach)(DPPP)]. 2NO$_3$). In the acute toxicity study in rats, three dosing groups of Sprague-Dawley male rats in each compounds were given a single intraperitoneal injection of KHPC-002, KHPC-005 and KHPC-006. In order to compare the toxic effects of these novel Pt(II) complexes with those of cisplatin, one group Sprague-Dawley male rats were given 7mg/kg i.p injection of cisplatin. Body weights showed dose-related decrease in all treatment groups when compared wi th the control group.

Fabrication of Conducting Polymer Thin Films Using Molecular Layer Deposition

  • The conducting polymer thin films were deposited using the gas phase method which known as molecular layer deposition (MLD). Terephthalaldehyde (TPA) and p-phenylenediamine (PD) were used as monomers to deposit conducting polymer. Self-terminating nature of TPA and PD reaction were demonstrated by growth rate saturation versus precursors dosing time. Infrared spectroscopic and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were employed to determine the chemical composition and state of conducting polymer thin films. Layer by layer growth and polymerization of thin films can be showed by shifting of absorption edge using UV-VIS spectroscopy. This conducting polymer fabricated by using MLD method gives the opportunity to develop new hybrid materials by combining inorganic materials in nanoscale.

Titaniumchloride (TiCl4) and 1,4-phenylenediamine (PD) were used as monomers to deposit hybrid polymer. Self-terminating nature of TiCl4 and PD reaction were demonstrated by growth rate saturation versus precursors dosing time. Infrared spectroscopic and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy were employed to determine the chemical composition and state of hybrid polymer thin films. Layer by layer growth was showed by increasing UV-VIS absorption peak of hybrid polymer thin films.

  • 지금까지의 라디오는 대부분 음성중심의 프로그램을 전송하였지만 DMB로 개념화되는 라디오와 디지털 기술의 접목은 지금까지 제한적이던 멀티미디어데이터서비스를 확대시키면서 라디오에 시각성을 부여하고 있다. 라디오에 부여되는 시각성은 지금까지의 청각성보다 훨씬 중요한 의미를 가지게 되었다. 이런 추세에 맞춰서 방송 서비스에 대한 멀티미디어데이터서비스 검색 시스템도 시각성을 중심으로 새롭게 재구성되어야 할 필요성이 대두되었다. DMB서비스는 제공되는 콘텐츠에 대해 각기 다른 콘텐츠 정보가 존재하고 이러한 정보를 이용하여 사용자가 원하는 서비스를 비친, 검색하는 방법으로 변화하여야 한다. 본 논문에서는 DMB MOT를 이용하여 MPEG-21 디지털 아이템 메타데이터를 전송하고, 전송된 메타데이터를 이용하여 단말기에 사용자가 원하는 디지털 아이템의 정보를 보여줄 수 있는 브라우징 시스템을 설계하고자 한다.

  • Cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) is routinely recommended for dental diagnosis and treatment planning. CBCT exposes patients to less radiation than does conventional CT. Still, lack of proper education among dentists and specialists is resulting in improper referral for CBCT. In addition, aiming to generate high-quality images, operators may increase the radiation dose, which can expose the patient to unnecessary risk. This letter advocates appropriate radiation dosing during CBCT to the benefit of both patients and dentists, and supports moving from the concept of "as low as reasonably achievable" (ALARA) to "as low as diagnostically acceptable" (ALADA).

  • In this paper, we present a fast and robust algorithm for the design of fuzzy controller and identifying fuzzy model from numerical data by combining the cluster estimation method with a linear least squares estimation procedure. The proposed method is compared with Adaptive Neuro-Fuzzy Inference System(ANFIS) as the standard example of neuro-fuzzy model. Finally we will show its usefulness and effectiveness for the design of fuzzy controller of a cart-pole system and fuzzy modeling for the coagulant dosing of a water purification system.
