Hindfoot Endoscopy for the Treatment of Posterior Ankle Impingement Syndrome: A Comparison of Two Methods (a Standard Method versus a Method Using a Protection Cannula) (후방 발목 충돌 증후군에서의 후족부 내시경 사용: 고식적 방법과 보호 도관을 이용한 방법의 비교)

  • Purpose: The purpose of this study is to compare the clinical results between two different methods of hindfoot endoscopy to treat posterior ankle impingement syndrome. Materials and Methods: Between January 2008 and January 2014, 52 patients who underwent hindfoot endoscopy were retrospectively reviewed. Two methods of hindfoot endoscopy were used; Group A was treated according to van Dijk and colleagues' standard twoportal method, and group B was treated via the modified version of the above, using a protection cannula. For clinical comparison, the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) hindfoot score, time required to return to activity, and the presence of complications were used. Results: There was no statistically significant difference in the AOFAS scores at the final follow-up, and there was also no statistically significant difference in the times for the scores to return to the preoperative level. There were no permanent neurovascular injuries and wound problems in either group. Conclusion: Use of protection cannula may provide additional safety during hindfoot endoscopy. We could not prove whether protection cannula can provide superior safety for possible neurovascular injury. Considering the possible safety and risk of using additional instrument, the use of this method may be optional.

Susceptibility Analysis for Rock Slope Hazard Using the Empirical Method (경험론적 방법을 이용한 암반사면재해 취약성 분석)

  • The objective of this study is to produce the rock slope hazard map on the Mt. Hwangryeong located at center of Busan Metropolitan City for evaluating the rock slope hazard susceptibility. The Mt. Hwangryoeng is located between Dongrae and Ilkwang faults and consists of various rocks such as sedimentary rock, andesitic volcanic rock, andesite, gabbro and granitic rocks. Thematic maps were carried out using ArcGIS for Database including the orientations and density of joints, strength of rock constructed through the field survey and results from previous studies. Also, rock slope hazard susceptibility for the Mt. Hwangryoeng area was studied using empirical method through checklists proposed by NDMI (National Disaster Management Institute). Results from using the empirical method indicated that rock slopes are evaluated from very stable to stable, but moderate stability has been partially presented along the edge of the mountain area.

The Effects of Elementary Science Localization Teaching Strategy on Environmental Perceptions of Students (초등과학 지역화 수업전략이 학생들의 환경인식에 미치는 영향)

  • The aim of the study is determined to find out how elementary science localization teaching strategy would influence environmental perception of students. In order to fulfill the research purpose, a total of 51 fifth graders from two classes in M Elementary School in U City were divided into a 26 of experimental group and a 25 of comparative group. The study was carried out from September to November of 2012. For the experimental group, an elementary science localization classes were conducted while for the comparative group, a general science classes were performed. The results of the research are presented as follows. First, it was learned that the experimental group with the elementary science localization class would have a significantly and statistically high environmental sensitivity comparing to that of the comparative group. That proves the elementary science localization class's being efficient at improving the students' environmental sensitivity. Second, the experimental group with the elementary science localization class turned out to have a significantly and statistically strong will to protect the environment than the comparative group would do. Such finding says that the elementary science localization class is helpful to enhance the students' will to preserve the environment. In conclusion, the study came to understand that the elementary science localization teaching strategy can improve the environmental perceptions of the students for such elementary science localization class would efficiently encourage environmental interest of the students.

Pre-service Elementary Teacher' Knowledge understanding and Teaching-learning type about 'stratum and rock' ('지층과 암석'에 대한 초등 예비 교사의 지식 이해와 교수유형)

  • The study aims to figure out pre-service elementary teachers' knowledge understanding on 'stratum and rock' as well as teaching-learning types on the same topic. A total of 65 seniors in an advanced science education course at B University of Education joined the research to fulfill the purpose above. With PCK classification framework, the study examined pre-service teachers' knowledge understanding on 'stratum and rock' while it analyzed how the teachers would teach the given topic to students. The results of the study are presented as follows. First, it was observed that the pre-service elementary teachers have a great understanding on 'stratum and rock' that would be taught via a science textbook for elementary fourth graders. However, regarding terms in 'shale and limestone', they appeared to have a relatively short understanding. Second, PCK elements of the pre-service teachers related to 'stratum and rock' were analyzed and according to the results, the teachers would be interested in teaching model selecting in the teaching-learning strategy field while they would be well aware of how important it is for them to perform an experiment in a teaching process. The teachers also appeared to understand that the teacher question can be mutual complementary during class. However, it turned out that the teachers would have a very much low understanding on learners' prior knowledge as they particularly believe that learning could be significantly affected by the learners' perception level as well as their learning interest and motive. Third, the pre-service elementary teachers were told to design teaching plans on 'stratum and rock' so that the study could find out what learning-teaching methods the teachers would adopt to teach the topic. It was learned that the teachers would proceed with the class basically by giving the learners a descriptive explanation on the topic and also by using pictures and drawings to enhance the learners' understanding during the class.

A Study on the Difference in Preference and Property of Native Local Foods - Focusing on University Students in Busan Area - (향토음식의 기호도 및 속성에 대한 차이 연구 - 부산지역 대학생을 중심으로 -)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the difference in preference and property of native local foods among students living in Busan. It concentrated on the students who were majored in food service in five universities in Busan. From September 1st to 30th, 2007, 300 copies of questionnaire were distributed and 260 returned were included in the statistics. The statistics was conducted by frequency analysis, T-test(average deviation verification), technical analysis and one way ANOVA for an accurate result of the study. As a result, it was found that Gayamilmyeon(M=4.42) showed the most preference for 25 native local foods of Busan(sansungmakgeoli, dongraepajeon, steamed carp, catfish soup, corbicula soup, roasted eel, gijang raw hairtail, dongrae mugwort cake, sansung roasted goat, gijangkkomjangeo, steamed frogfish, duck dish, guponoodles, gayamilmyeon, sliced raw fish, molsim hot-pepper fish stew, hairtail stew, anchovy stew, miyeoksulchi, gompi salted dish, salted raw anchovy dish, roasted kkomjaneo, salted sliced persimmon dish, salted bean leave dish, kkasiri soup). On the other hand, it was found that Miyeoksulchi(M=2.66) showed the least preference among them. As a result of the analysis of the difference in demographic characteristics and property of native local foods, it was presented that there was no difference in the statistical analysis by sex but significant difference in taste, quantity, service, price, freshness, sanitation, packing condition and originality, etc by age, department, academic year, type of residence, family member, living period in Busan and monthly spending. It was considered to conduct a more in-depth study to promote native local foods and interest in the food of Busan in university students.

EXPRESSION OF CYTOKERATIN SUBTYPES AND VIMENTIN IN AMELOBLASTOMA (사기질모세포종에서 Cytokeratin 아형과 Vimentin의 발현)

  • Ameloblastoma is the most common odontogenic tumor of the jawbones, but the origin of this tumor has been remained to be unproven. Cytokeratins (CKs) are specific intermediate filament of epithelial cells, and vimentin is expressed in mesenchymal cells. The immunohistochemical detection of different CKs and vimentin has made it easier to know the origin of tumor. Paraffin-embedded tissue sections from 15 ameloblastomas and 1 ameloblastic carcinoma were used for immunohistochemical evaluation of CK 7, 8, 13, 14, 19 and vimentin. Their expression is evaluated in different tumor cells, which are observed in different type of tumors. In the follicular and reticular subtype, central stellate cells of tumor nests expressed CK 8, 14, 19 and peripheral columnar cells expressed CK 14. CK 7, and 13 were not expressed. Vimentin was detected in fibrous stroma around tumor nest, not in tumor cells. The tumor cells of ameloblastic carcinoma expressed CK 7, 14 and 19, but CK 8 was more weakly stained than that in ameloblastoma. Central stellate cells and peripheral columnar cells of acanthomatous subtype showed same expression pattern with others. Meta plastic squamous cells expressed CK 8, 14, 19 and keratinizing squamous cells expressed CK 13, 19. CK 7 and vimentin were not detected in tumor cells and vimentin was expressed in fibrous stroma. Most of the tumor cells of ameloblastoma showed CK 14 and CK 19 and did not express CK 7 and vimentin. These findings were similar to the immunophenotype of dental lamina. And these results will be beneficial to differential diagnosis of odontogenic tumors and other kind of tumors arising at the oral cavity.

Management of Earthworm Casts using Pesticides and Tea Tree (Camellia oliefera) Extracts in Turfgrass of Golf Courses (골프장에서 차나무류 추출물과 화학 방제제를 이용한 지렁이 분변토 발생 관리)

  • Earthworm cast is a harmful factor which reduces the uniformity of management of turfgrass and play quality in golf courses and playground. This research was conducted to carry out the efficacy of some pesticide (bifenthrin GR + clothianidin GR, ethoprophos GR, imidacloprid SC, picoxystrobin WG, thiophanate-methyl WP) and tee tree (Camellia oliefera) extracts against reducing earthworm cast in golf courses. All tested materials were acted reducing earthworm cast, thiophanate-methyl among them showed the highest effect reducing earthworm casts in golf courses. Tea tree extracts was occurred similar efficacy among tested chemical pesticides. However, pellet type byproduct of tea seed extract and liquid formulation of tea tree extract were better than granule formulation of them. Byproduct of tea seed and tea tree extract can be used for alternative biological management material for reducing earthworm cast in heavily casting occurrence area.

Smoking Relapse and Related Factors Within One Year Among Successes of the Smoking Cessation Clinics of Public Health Centers (보건소 금연클리닉 금연성공자의 1년내 재흡연과 관련요인)

  • Objectives: This study aimed to investigate smoking relapse and the related factors within 1 year after discharge from the smoking cessation clinics (SCCs) of public health centers (PHCs). Methods: Data were collected with a structured questionnaire from 395 people who success fully stopped smoking at 4 SCCs in Busan between May and June 2009, and this data were analyzed by Kaplan-Meier survival curves and the Cox proportional hazard model. Results: The rate of smoking relapse within 1 year after discharge from SCCs was 39.2% and this decreased rapidly over 6 months after discharge. The factors related to smoking relapse within 1 year after discharge from SCCs were being female (HR, 2.11; 95% CI, 1.17 to 3.82), a trial of smoking cessation with any assistants (HR, 1.95; 95% CI, 1.19 to 3.19), more than 7 ppm of exhaled CO2 on the SCCs' registration (HR, 1.81; 95% CI, 1.24 to 2.64), use of pharmacotherapy after discharge from SCCs (HR, 2.00; 95% CI, 1.36 to 2.93), alcohol drinking more than once a week after discharge from SCCs (HR, 3.32; 95% CI, 2.15 to 6.78), and a perceived barrier (HR, 1.21; 95% CI, 1.14 to 1.30) after discharge from the SCCs. Conclusions: According to the results, at least 6 months follow-up after discharge from SCCs of public health centers is recommended to reduce the rate smoking relapse. It is also recommended to strengthen the education on how to overcome barriers such as drinking in the course of smoking cessation clinics.

A Study on Analysis of Differences, Purchase Intentions and Importance-Satisfaction According to the Recognition of Local Foods and Restaurants in Busan (부산시 향토음식과 음식점의 인지도에 따른 차이, 구매의도, 중요도-만족도의 분석)

  • This study conducted t-test and ANOVA analysis, influence of importance-satisfaction, regression analysis to local food and restaurants to the purchase intention in Busan. The subjects of this study were tourists who visited local restaurants in Busan, and the final 392 copies were used for empirical analysis. As a result of the study, first, there will be a significant difference in the recognition of local foods in Busan according to the visitor's region. In all samples, the recognition was high in the order of pork stock, wheat noodle, sauteed·fired soft eel, grilled·ell sashmi. On the other hand, sansung bulgogi, Dongrae pajeon, and sansung makkŏlli were the lowest. Second, in the difference between importance and satisfaction of local restaurants in Busan, 'there is a different taste compared to other regions' showed high satisfaction and importance. Third, In the relationship between the awareness of local restaurants in Busan and the purchase intention, it was found to be effective in service, facilities, prices and locality and cleanliness were rejected.

An Experimental Study on Manufacturing Permeable Concrete Blocks from Recycled Industrial By-Products of Oyster Shell and Blast Furnace Slag (굴패각 및 고로슬래그 산업부산물을 재활용한 콘크리트 투수블록의 제조에 대한 실험적 연구)

  • In this paper, bending strength and permeability tests were conducted on concrete permeable blocks manufactured by recycling industrial by-products of oyster shell and blast furnace slag to measure and compare bending strength and permeability coefficient, and present experimental research results. To this end, a total of 54 specimens with a size of 200x200x60mm for surface layer and base layer were manufactured, and bending strength and permeability test were carried ourt accoridng to KS F 4419. Eighteen types of mixing designs were implemented by varying the mixing and replacement rates of oyster shells and blast furnace slag. As a result of the experiment, the higher the mixing ratio of oyster shell, the lower the bending strength and the permeability coefficient. Thereafter, a total of three permeable blocks with dimensions of 200x200x60mm were manufactured and subjected to bending strength and permeability tests according to KS F 4419. As a result of the test, the bending strength satisfies the standard of KS F 4419, and the permeability coefficient is 12 times higher than the standard of KS F 4419. It seems that the proper mixing of oyster shells and blast furnace slag increases the amount of air, and further research on durability and economic feasibility of materials used to manufacture permeable blocks is required.
