  • "Gup Yu Bang" is the first Korean book that specialized in pediatrics. It was written by Jo Jeong-jun on the 25th year of King Young Jo in the Choson dynasty. He quoted a lot of information from "Yi-Hak-Yip-Mun" by Yi-cheon in the Myung dynasty and "Xiao Er Yao Zheag Zhi Jue" by Qian Yi in the Song dynasty, but he added his own opinions and clinical experiences to the book. In addition to that, the book explains not only symptoms and prescriptions but also the etiology and pathology of children's diseases. In particular, he showed a great deal of creativity in his book called "Dong Bang Six Fu's Qi Principle" After studying "Gup Yu Bang", I have drawn the following conclusions. 1. Prevention is more important than treatment in pediatrics. 2. When we make a diagnosis, facial inspection has priority. 3. In terms of treatmemt, Wu zang is a general rule. Therefore, we should focus on Wu zang and Pi Wei. 4. The following terms definition symptom cause prescription clinical example prevention are to be explained with reference to the nature or symptoms of the disease. 5. We can see that smallpox was more widspread than the measles in the period of King Young Jo. 6. Even though he was influenced by "Yi-Hak-Yip-Mun", "Xiao Er Yao Zheag Zhi Jue", and "Dong eui bo gam", his own explanation is clearer in his book called "Gup Yu Bang" which is based on his own clinical experiences. 7. "Gup Yu Bang" is a practical and experiential book.

In part of OhRyungJinAek-Byeul of Youngchu"靈樞 五癃津液別", the general explanation of hydrops is briefed. But there was nothing about pathogenesis, pathology, symptoms and the method of treatment. The part SuChang of Youngchu "靈樞 水脹" divided it by Superficial-swelling, Hidden-swelling, Ovarian-hydrops, Stony-uterin-mass and explained it to cure by Category of pathology. So, the books JeByeongWonHuRon"諸病源候論" ChonGeumYoBang"千金要方", WoiDaeBiYo"外臺秘要", TaePyeungSeongHyeBang"太平聖惠方", BoJeBang"普濟方", EuiHakGangMok"醫學綱目", DongEuiBoGam"東醫寶鑑" etc. published later, show the method of treatments and medications with quotation the original text of this part. And it is convinced that more profound research of this part is inevitable to understand the correct meaning of hydrops that explained by many of ancient medical scholars, and to apply it to clinical medicine. There is an explanation on Distension hydrops in the prologue of this part. And t six kinds of disease in this part is simila to edema, so it is called SuChang"水脹", pathology of Edema. • The fragrance has a great influence on consumers' cognition, emotional response, attitude, memory, and behavior since the human sense of fragrance is physically and neurologically closer to the hippocampus of the brain. The fragrance materials are exposed to humans ranging from skin interaction to inhalation. We have lots of stories and literature on the usage of fragrance in everyday life in Korea from the Dangun myth to present K-beauty cosmetics. In Korean history, such archives as Dong-Eui-Bo-Gam and Gyu-Gak-Chong-Seo at Joseon Dynasty clearly recorded the application of many weeds for the manufacture of various fragrance products. In recent times, fragrances in weeds have been being applied to touch the consumer's feelings. The present mini-review is an attempt to introduce and discuss fragrant weeds in the archives and in science journals, effects of fragrant weeds on the human electroencephalographic activity, and effects of fragrance on the behavior of consumers. This review could be useful for the development of natural cosmetic and perfumery products from fragrant weeds.

Based on this research, a classification of materials used in vinegar, knowledge on treatment, preparation of ingredients, capturing flavor, storage of vinegar, as well as the favorable days that vinegar can be manufactured were studied and analyzed based on the different aspect of vinegar. Vinegar is a wellknown condiment throughout the world and has the potential of becoming a luxurious food. Replication and further analysis to expand the properties of vinegar is necessary using old literature, together with the literature identified above. Based on ongoing research, it is foreseeable that the development of a vinegar with unique characteristics and improved standards will be the foundation for the globalization of Korean cuisine, which is our current focus.

  • The aim of the study is to evaluate immune-enhancing effects of Yeonsan Ogye. Various extract of Yeonsan Ogye (200 and 400 mg/kg/daily) was treated orally to Balb/c mice for 1 week, before acute inflammation was induced by LPS. After cytokine (IFN-γ, TNF-α, IL-6, and IL-1β) and immune cells (white blood cell, neutrophil, lymphocyte, and monocyte) level by serum and blood were counted. As a result, Oral treatment of Yeonsan Ogye extract to the Balb/c mice were significantly decreased cytokine level in serum, in comparison with control group. in addition, production of white blood cell and monocyte in blood was decreased and granulocyte was increased respectively, in comparison with control. Our results demonstrated that Yeonsan Ogye extracts seem to have significant immune-enhancing. Thus, Yeonsan ogye may be developed as a raw material for new health food and medicine to ease the symptoms related with inflammatory and immune.

  • This paper aims to find out the unique Oriental Medical characteristics of the prescription Gami-Bojeongsan(加味普正散), which can only be found in "Cheong-gang Euigam(晴崗醫鑑)" and the records of diagnosis by Kim Yeong Hoon. First, clues regarding Gami-Bojeongsan (加味普正散) in "Cheong-gang Euigam(晴崗醫鑑)" and the records of diagnosis by Kim Yeong Hoon have been collected, and then the origin of Gami-Bojeongsan(加味普正散) has been studied. Moreover, changes of prescriptions for common cold in East Asian Medicine have been looked into from historical perspective, and their connection to Gami-Bojeongsan(加味普正散) has also been researched. Lastly, connection of prescriptions for common cold found in royal records of the Chosun Dynasty to Gami-Bojeongsan(加味普正散) has been confirmed. The results are as follow: 1) Gami-Bojeongsan(加味普正散) is a most frequently used prescription in the records of diagnosis by Kim Yeong Hoon, and was used mostly in winter. It includes various modified versions. 2) Prescriptions that adopt Cyperi Rhizoma(香附子) as the sovereign medicinal, such as Gami-Bojeongsan(加味普正散), include Hyangsosan(香蘇散) of "Hejijufang(和劑局方)" and Hyang-gal-tang (香葛湯) of "Dexiaofang(得效方)". Hyang-gal-tang(香葛湯) is thought to have adopted Korean characteristics through "Dong-Eui-Bo-Gam (東醫寶鑑)" and "Je-Jung-Shin-Pyeon(濟衆新編)", and have continued its existence until it reached Gami-Bojeongsan(加味普正散). 3) These characteristics can be found in the royal records of the Chosun Dynasty, and also in Shin-Su-Tae-Eul-San(神授太乙散) of "Euibang-Yuchui (醫方類聚)".
