Rare diseases are life threatening or chronically debilitating diseases with a low prevalence (less than 2,000 people in a population), which includes lysosomal storage diseases. These diseases are often seen as unimportant especially in developing countries, such as Indonesia, due to small number of patients. National Rare Disease Center in Indonesia was pioneered almost 20 years ago and officially established in 2017 by the Indonesian Minister of Health. Lysosomal storage disease become the most commonly found inborn errors of metabolism (IEM) in Indonesia due to easily accessible diagnostic facilities. Currently there are 7 patients receiving ERT in this mixed-donation scheme, one patient with Gaucher disease and 6 patients with MPS type II. Few challenges for ERT in Indonesia include importation through special access scheme, preparation of ERT infusion in intensive care settting, and cost of treatment. Even with limited resources, healthcare professionals in Indonesia have been giving the best care possible for rare disease patients, especially to provide diagnostic facilities through collaboration and treatment options for treatable rare diseases. Improvements in care for rare disease patients are still needed.
This study is targeted to understand the giving of time and money among citizens in Seoul. It explores predictors of different combinations of giving behaviors: only volunteering, only donating, doing both, and neither. In exploring predictors, it also considers the effects of intensity in giving with differential measurement of general participation and regular participation. For the analysis, this study utilizes Seoul Welfare Panel Survey Data in 2008 and 2010 and employes a multi-nominal logistic regression model with selection of citizens' demographic factors, pro-social attitude factors, and psycho-social factors on these four type of giving behaviors. The findings show that previous giving experiences(+) and religious activities(+) have statistically significant effects on both selective and combined giving behavior. Gender(woman), income(+), education(+) have statistically significant effects on giving behaviors(only donating and doing both) related with donation. In the case of employment state, unemployment is significantly related to volunteering while employment is significantly related to donating. Finally, happiness(+) has significantly positive effect on intensive giving such as regular giving rather than general giving. This analysis has made a start in a new area of inquiry attempting to explain different giving behaviors with broadening and promoting understanding on giving behaviors. Moreover, it raises several implications for future research and strategic practice for resource mobilization of NPOs.

Mobile giving platform is a new type of giving platform which offers donation service through mobile application. Mobile giving platform has developed differently from offline giving platform in the way that induces continuous donation. The purpose of this study is to investigate why mobile giving platform has adopted different strategy, and how it leads to continuous contribution. We conducted a case study with two successful mobile giving platforms; Bigwalk and Tree Planet. The analysis of the strategy is based on the construal level theory which explains the relationship between psychological distance and construal level. The result shows that the users' psychological distance toward giving platform has decreased with the environmental change, offline to mobile. Consequently the mobile giving platform offers services which form low level of construal for encouraging continuous participation. This finding suggests the importance of offering suitable construal level in services, and design guideline for mobile giving platforms.

The National Archives of Korea(NAK) has arranged and operated 'Guidelines on Operating Copyright for Archives' and 'Regulations on Operating Reference Room' to protect the copyright for archives. However, the Guidelines and the Regulations only provide application to the Copyright Act and principles on internal managing copyright without presenting copyright issues for each type of archives. Therefore, additional detailed guidelines have to be arranged for the users to access to copyright issues easily by presenting them the standards of judgement or principles on copyright issues for each type of the archives to facilitate the use of archives collected already. We also need to define the details on Copyright Act and Moral Rights Act to collect archives. This study is an prior analysis for that purpose. Lively discussion and way of operation in an aspect of the copyright in relation to private records should be sought in the future.
Firms initiate philanthropic activities to improve social welfare that is beyond the scope of their responsibility towards society. Forestry activities, among other philanthropic areas, simultaneously improve corporate environment and social performance and provide the opportunity to cooperate for a large number of employees. Firms can effectively contribute to forest conservation with their financial and human resources. To encourage participation of more firms, we need to understand how and why firms engage in such activities. This study aims to explore different types of philanthropic forestry activities that these firms undertake. Corporate philanthropic activities can be categorized as donation, in-house project, or collaboration according to the governance type. We analyzed Yuhan-Kimberly's forestry campaign to investigate how and why the firm engaged in each type. We also propose some practical implications for firms, government, and non-profit organizations to invigorate firm's participation in philanthropic forestry activities.

Because consumers tend to have negative opinion about a company that neglects social issues like poverty or pollution while it focuses on its own profit, a lot of companies have invested their resources in Corporate Social Responsibility(CSR). CSR has merits of image improving and profit gaining, on the other hand, it has also many shortcomings. First, the cost of CSR may become a heavy financial burden. Specifically, CSR tends to be implemented by a company's unilateral backup, and then this may impose a heavy burden on the company. Second, one cannot expect effects of CSR in a short-term. Because of these shortcomings, the unilateral CSR has gone into alteration of the type of CSR since 1980's. Instead of unilaterality, Cause-Related Marketing(CRM) began to be used for mutual profits among company, consumers, and society. That is, CRM has become to be spotlighted as a new type of CSR. It focuses on partnership between a company and consumers based on cause and mutual profit pursuing through this partnership. So, many contemporary companies prefer CRM activities that derive their positive corporate image, that increase their sales, and that reduce their financial cost. The IBM Matching Grants Program, which is the largest of the IBM-Employee partnership programs, is a typical CRM. This program enables employees and retirees to increase the value of their donations to educational institutions, hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, and cultural & environmental organizations with a matching gift from IBM. Hundreds of educational institutions and thousands of nonprofit organizations have benefited from the contributions by IBM. There might be various types of matching grants. For example, an employee might choose a lump-sum expense or partitioning a lump-sum into a series of small ongoing expenses for his (or her) donation, and a firm might match the employee's total contribution with a lump-sum expense or might match the employee's total contribution with a series of small ongoing expenses. However, it is not easy to find an academic research on which type of matching grant is preferred by employees. This paper shows that an employee prefers the type of matching grants that consists of a lump-sum expense for his (or her) contribution and a series of small ongoing expenses for a firm's contribution [or the type of matching grants that consists of a series of small ongoing expenses for an employee's contribution and a lump-sum expense for a firm's contribution] to the other types of matching grants.

This study was conducted to examine and analyze local governments, park status, project characteristics, and the implementation in detail for private park special projects across the country as a means of responding to the sunsetting of urban parks. As a result of the analysis, first, the private park special project, was found to be mainly implemented in cities with a population of more than 100,000, so there was a limit to the application on military installations or in local small cities. Therefore, rather than applying the special system collectively, it was judged that institutional flexibility, considering the characteristics and size of local government, was needed. Second, the current special projects by the park creation donation collection method shows monotonous development centered on apartment houses, so it is necessary to diversify the development by introducing a park preservation method that purchases and donates park sites. Third, it was found that the area standard needs to be eased to less than 50,000m2 to include parks with high utilization and good accessibility in urban areas of large cities, as the type and area of parks are limited. Fourth, most special projects are mountain parks, which are feared to damage the natural terrain and skyline, so separate ordinances should be established and applied, and development approaches should be made to allow nature and parks to coexist with the setting of detailed building guidelines for each type of facility. The guidelines should include, first, after the nationwide private park special projects are completed, standards for appropriate returns for similar projects should be established, institutional standards such as the recovery of excess profits should be established, and environmental reviews should be conducted. Second, it was found that local governments should institutionalize the composition of private consultations to promote the efficient management of projects through a cooperative system, and third, a roadmap for maintenance after the donation of special parks should be established.

This study was designed to identify, describe and classify orientations of cancer patient's family members to death and to identify factors related to their attitudes on death. Death to the male is understood as a comprehensive system and believed to be highly subjective experience. Therefore attitude on death is affected by personalities. As an attempt to measure the subjective meaning toward death, the unstructured Q-methodology was used. Korean Death Orientation Questonaire prepared by Kim was used. Item-reliability and Sorting-reliability were tested. Forty five cancer patients' family members hospitalized in one university medical center in Seoul were sampled. Sorting the 65 Q-itmes according to the level of personal agreement ; A forced normal distribution into the 11 levels, were carried out by the 45 P-samples. The demographic data and information related to death orientation of the P-sample was collected through face to face in depth interviews. Data was gathered from August 30 till September 22, 1995. The Z-scores of the Q-items were computed and principal component factor analysis was carried out by PC-QUANL Program. Three unique types of the death orientation were identified and labeled. Type I consists of twenty P-samples. Life and death was accepted as people's destiny, They firmly believed the existence of life after life. They kept aloof from death and their concern was facing the and of the life with dignity, They were in favor of organ donation. Type II consists of Nine P-Samples. They considered that death was the end of everything and did not believed the life after life. They were very concerned about the present life. Type III consists of Sixteen P-samples. They regarded the death as a natural phenomena. And they considered that the man is just a traveller and is bound to head for the next life which is believed to be free of agony, pain or darkness. They neither feared death nor its process. Their conserns were on the activities to prepare themselves for the eternal-life after death. Thus, it was concluded that there were three distinctiven type of attitudes on death among cancer patient family members, and their death attitudes were affected by demographic and socio-cultural factors such as sex, education, and religion.
So far, it has been a general opinion that 'Hunminjeongeum' creation was made only by King Sejong himself under Jiphyeonjeon scholars' help. However, this paper stresses that 'Hunminjeongeum' was made not only by King Sejong but also by Sinmi's positive effort on King Sejong's secret order, and examines the possibility of the culture-convergence contents related to these tales as well. To reveal the ground, the method of this research was proceeded particularly focusing on following texts: Sejongsillok, Munjongsillok, Hangukbulgyojeonseo, etc. The result was as followings. 1) King Sejong's absolute trust in Sinmi, 2) Sinmi's outstanding linguistic talent in Sanskrit. 3) King Sejong's donation of Amitaba-Triad Buddha images to Bokcheonsa Temple and Sejong's granting a respecting title of 'Wugukise Hyeogakjonja' to Sinmi. 4) Sinmi's vow to educate and spread 'Hunminjeongeum' based on Buddhism, and 5) Sejo's visit Sinmi at Bokcheonsa Temple. Furthermore, if the tales related to 'Hunminjeongeum' creation are activated into a type of national or regional events or festivals without remaining simply in a story level, it would be a good way to spread the excellence of convergence K-culture with various culture contents.
Giving behavior can be defined to be a behavior intended to benefit the society's charity works and public works via sharing one's financial resources. The determinants of giving behavior largely consist of sociodemographic factors, such as the income, age, gender, religion, education level, residential areas, and tax deduction policy, etc. This paper considers the income level, self-esteem, and perceived responsibility toward social welfare, as the major research variables. Statistical results, based on 2014 Korean Welfare Panel data, show that the income level and self-esteem have positive influence on participation intention in charitable giving. However, welfare responsibility has negative impact on participation intention. Second, household income was the only salient, negative factor for giving efforts defined as the amount of donation over income, implying that the higher income brackets are giving less money relative to their income level, than those with lower income level. Contrary to our expectation, self-esteem and welfare responsibility were not statistically significant explanatory variables.
