  • This study included the analysis of mushroom data collected from Mt. Chiak in Gangwon-do using various methods. Former studies of Korean mushrooms are limited by regional characters and there is less species diversity among the regions. This study tried to find a way for the forecast of mushroom distribution and appearance by indexes of species diversity. The indexes used in this study include the number of fungi (N), the number of species (S), similarity index (C), richness index (R1, R2), variety index (V1, V2), evenness index (E1, E2, E3, E4, E5), and dominance index (D1) to analyze variety of species diversity. Analyses of data of fungi using a multistage cluster sampling indicate that the average value of C for years was higher than the average value of C for areas. The mushrooms consisted of 208 species in 686 individuals in limited fungal collection from 2002 to 2003. One hundred thirty nine species in 393 individuals were collected in 2002, and 122 species 293 individuals were collected in 2003. The individuals collected in 2003 were smaller than 2002's individuals. Similarity, richness, and variety indexes' values of 2003 were reduced than 2002's values but dominance index of 2003 was increased than 2002's value. Generally the species diversity of the environment to evaluate the index of similarity, richness, and variety was a higher index; dominance index was lower than that of the surrounding environment, suggesting a good diversity. As a result, the occurrence of mushrooms in the surrounding environment and the various factors seem fell in 2002 compared to 2003. The majority genus of the limited fungal collection was Mycena genus in 63 individuals; the majority species was Laccaria laccata in 34 individuals. Ninety three species in 106 individuals were collected by the extended collection and the majority genus of the extended collection was Amanita genus in 17 individuals; the majority species was Amanita citrina (Schaeff.) Pers. which was found in 5 individuals. This demonstrates that periodical similarity's value was 0.159 is higher than special similarity's 0.119. This indicates that the probability of the appearance of same mushrooms in the same area in following year is higher than the probability of the appearance of same mushrooms in the surrounding area in same year. The value of coefficient of variation (CV), in which the amount of change is much or less by N is higher than the CV value by S. CV value of dominance index(D) was the highest r point among other indexes, and evenness index (E) was the lowest point among other indexes. The correlation matrix with 66 combinations between the indexes, the combinations with correlations was 46 combinations. These results revealed that indexes of R1, V2, and E1 were proper to represent species diversity of fungi based on the correlation matrix and the theory of statistical independence which means there is no or less mutual association. This research would contribute to the study about variable living creature by measuring method and in the future this would be used to figure out regulation about fungi with their correlation, values in ecosystem, develop improving new models about agricultural fungi species and numbers by investigating agricultural variable species.

  • Vegetation, environmental characteristics and soil analysis of Megaleranthis saniculifolia Ohwi habitats were investigated to propose the basal data for conservation and restoration. M. saniculifolia was distributed around an altitude of 770~1,440 m with an inclination of $0{\sim}20^{\circ}$, and mostly formed discontinuous populations in northern part of valley. The vascular plants from 78 quadrates of 11 habitats were identified 111 taxa. Importance value of M. saniculifolia was 27.05%, and highly ranked 5 species such as Veratrum oxysepalum (5.67%), Corydalis turtschaninovii (5.32%), Aruncus dioicus var. kamtschaticus (4.35%), Meehania urticifolia (4.06%) and Anemone koraiensis (3.91%) were considered to be an affinity with M. saniculifolia. Dominant species of woody plants in 78 quadrates were represented as Cornus controversa, Juglans mandshurica, Quercus mongolica, Acer pseudo-sieboldianum and A. mono in tree (B1) layer, A. pseudo-sieboldianum and Carpinus cordata in subtree (B2) layer, Deutzia glabrata and Prunus padus in shrub (S) layer. Average species diversity was 1.16, and dominance and evenness were found to be 0.12 and 0.81, respectively. Average field capacity was 26.41%, and the organic matter and soil pH were 7.83% and 5.83. Correlation coefficients based on environmental factors, vegetation and soil analysis were showed that the positive correlations between slope degrees and pH, slope degrees and organic matter, dominance and importance value, species diversity and richness, whereas between species diversity and dominance, and importance value and dominance were showed negative correlations.

  • In the experiment, gene actions were analyzed for seven silkworm varieties in order to obtain basic information on their genetic improvement by diallel crosses. The results obtained were summarized as follows : in analysis of variance, significantly maternal and reciprocal effects were observed for all character except female cocoon shell percentage and female pupal weight. Over-dominance was shown by Vr-Wr graphic analysis in three characters such as female cocoon weight, female and male pupal weight, and partial dominance in five characters such as male cocoon weight, cocoon shell percentage in both female and male. Component of genetic varience analyzed for five characters such as male cocoon weight, cocoon shell weight, cocoon shell percentage in both female and male showed that additive effects were higher than dominant effects, and female cocoon weight showed dominant effects higher than additive effects. Heritability of narrow sence was higher more than 0.51 and heritability of broad sence was higher more than 0.77 in all characters except for female pupal weight. The directions of dominance were negative for female cocoon shell weight and somewhat higher for female and male cocoon shell percentage. Meanwhile cocoon weight, pupal weight in both female and male showed positive in the direction of dominance.

  • This study was carried out to obtain basic informations for gene action of quantitative characters including shattering resistance. The parental varieties used for $5{\times}5$ half diallel crosses were 'Yangbaek' and 'Ansan' of normal type, 'Suwon177' and 'Suwon195' of placenta adhesion type (PA) and 'SIG960320-5-1-1' of indehiscent type (ID). PA and ID type are shattering-resistant sesames, and Yangbaek and Ansan are shattering sesames. All the characters were sufficient to the assumption for diallel analysis in this experiment. Over dominance was exhibited by the number of capsules per plant, while partial dominance by plant height, capsule setting stem length, grain yield per plant and shattering rate, complete dominance by the number of branches per plant. Additive effect was higher than dominance in shattering rate. High shattering rate was dominant over low shattering rate. Suwon 195, shattering resistant sesame, showed to have the many recessive genes which reduced the shattering rate of sesame seed. Broad sense heritability for all the characters was more than 0.8. Narrow sense heritability for the number of branches per plant, the number of capsules per plant, grain yield per plant and shattering rate was 0.45 to 0.63, and plant height and capsule setting stem length was more than 0.8.

  • The experiment was conducted to get basic information for cotton breeding program through four-variety diallel cross population. Additive, dominant, maternal, and reciprocal effect were observed significantly for days to maturity. Based on the Vr-Wr graphical analysis, the characters, number of bolls per plant, boll weight, seed and lint weight per boll, lint weight per boll, width of seed, 100-seed weight, days to flowering, and days to maturity were found to inherit incomplete dominance, and the characters of number of bolls per plant, width of seed, number of seeds per boll, and length of seed were assumed to inherit over dominance. The component of genetic variance analysis for boll weight, seed and lint weight per boll, lint weight per boll, number of seeds per boll, length of seed, and days to flowering showed that additive effects were higher than dominant effects. The narrow-sense heritability(h$_2$N) for boll weight, seed and lint weight per boll, lint weight per boll, days to flowering, and days to maturity showed high values as more than 43.19%. The estimate of broad-sense heritability(h$_2$B) value was higher than that of h$_2$N because of the low importance of dominance effects.

  • This study was conducted the vegetation clustering analysis for the 3 mountains of Mt. Bulam, Mt. Daemo, Mt. Bonghwa which were the urban forests of Seoul. Based on the results of the analysis related to the vegetation clustering, it was found that the clustering of Mt. Bulam consisted of pine trees(Pinus densiflora)-Mongolian oak(Quercus mongolica), Hornb eam(Carpinus laxiflora)-Pitch pine(P. rigida), oriental oak(Q. variabilis) - a wild pear tree(Sorbus alnifolia) while the clustering of Mt. Daemo consisted of Pitch pine-Japanese larch(Larix leptolepis), Poplar(Populus tomentig landulosa)- black birch(Betula davurica pall). Meanwhile, the clustering of Mt. Bonghwa consisted of pine trees-a wild pear tree Community and Sawtooth oak(Q. acutissima)-Cherry Blossoms(Prunus serrulata). In relation to the similarity index by region in Mt. Bulam, Mt. Daemo, and Mt. Bonghwa, the similarity index of Mt. Bulam and Mt. Daemo stood at as high as 0.634, suggesting the distribution of similar vegetation, and the dominance index of the Mt. Daemo region was found to be 0.166 which suggests the dominance of many species compared to other regions. In addition, the results of species diversity showed that Mt. Daemo had the highest stability, and the species diversity, maximum species diversity, evenness indices were highest in Mt. Bulam, followed by Mt. Bonghwa and Mt. Daemo. The dominance index was the lowest in Mt. Bulam, followed by Mt. Bonghwa and Mt. Daemo.

  • This paper concerns the Holocene environmental change with vegetational history and sea-level fluctuation at Ilsan area by the analytical data of pollen, sedimentary facies and $C^14$-dating. The hypothetic palaeogeographic maps of the vegetation cover have been reconstructed with the reference to the periods of pollen zone. The environmental characteristics from the pollen zonation have been summerized as follows. 1)Pollenzone I(3.75~5.75m) showed the period of Alnus-and EMW-dominance. The study area was very humid under the influence of the transgression spreading widely from the rapid sea-level rise during the period(8,000~4,200y.BP). 2)Pollen zone II(5.75~6.35m) has been influenced by the fall of the sea-level and ground water surface. This zone(4,200~2,300y.BP) represented the period of spore~ and NAP-dominance with the increase of Pinus. 3) Pollen zone III(6.35~6.55m) has reflected the influence of the transgression and human interferences together. This zone(2,300~1,800y.BP) represented the period of NAP-dominance. The boundary between Subzone Ilb and Pollen zone III represents the same characteristics as what Weber says Grenzhorizont.

  • The distribution of benthic macroinvertebrates in Daecheon stream, an urban stream of Busan, was investigated to analyze the community structure of benthic macroinvertebrates. The collection was performed monthly at five(A~E) sites divided into three parts, upper, middle and lower, of stream from January to November, 2004. In physicochemical analysis of environmental factors, water quality parameters such as BOD, COD, conductivity and ABS were relatively increased in sites B and C. Whereas sites A, D and E showed little variations with good water quality parameters. However, water quality parameters in all surveyed sites showed gradual decrease with time toward improvement of water quality. A total of 8,226 individuals including 4 phyla, 6 classes, 9 orders, 302 families and 44 species were identified from five sites. The most dominant group was insect(class Insecta), and order Ephemeroptera and Diptera among insect was the largest member in species(30.6%) and individuals(75.0%) of benthic macroinvertebrates, respectively. The primary dominant species were Gammarus sp. and Ephemera strigata in site A, whereas Chironomus sp. and Brenchiura sowerbyi were dominated commonly in the other sites. In community analysis of benthic macroinvertebrates of Daecheon stream diversity index showed relatively low values, whereas dominance index was significantly high. Diversity index was the highest in site A, whereas the dominance index was the highest in site B. However, diversity index showed gradual increase with time showing adverse mode in dominance index. From these results, it can be suggested that long-term ecological monitoring of benthic macroinvertebrate fauna is needed for sustainable management of Daecheon stream.

  • This study identified the effect of changes in the riverbed on the benthic macroinvertebrate communities. The benthic macroinvertebrates collected from the surveyed sites belonged to 119 species, 65 families, 20 orders, and 7 classes in 4 phyla. The number of Ephemeroptera, Plecoptera, and Trichoptera (E.P.T) species was 42, 10, and 8, respectively, in the tributary, confluence, and Nakdong River sites. Lotic species (Hydropsychidae) showed a high density at the tributary sites, whereas lentic species (Chironomidae) showed a high density at the confluence and Nakdong River sites. Community analysis showed that the Dominance Index (DI) was 0.54 in tributary sites, and dominance indices increased closer to the Nakdong River sites. The diversity index (H') was inversely proportional to DI. The ratio of Burrowers species (BU) at the surveyed sites increased closer to the Nakdong River sites. Analysis of common species showed 37 species (34.6%) between the tributary and confluence sites and 66 species (51.5%) between the confluence and Nakdong River sites.
