The texture change of non-linear optical molecules at the air/water interface was investigated as a function of surface pressure with Brewster angle microscopy. The texture change resulted from the aggregation of dye molecules is important to understand the film uniformity and grain formation process. The 4-Octadecylhydroxy-4'-nitrostilbene (OHNS) generated the small spots of size around 1$\mu$m. The spots exhibit high contrast with other film area and do not show angle dependent reflectivity change. It is interesting to observe that the size of the domain stays the same as the film pressure increases. At high surface pressure, the contrast ratio of domains becomes high, which means dense packing of OHNS. And, the size of domain grows. In the middle of domain, highly contrasted domains are formed. The first and the second order transitions of OHNS observed from surface pressure-area isotherm result from the two types of grains. The N,N-Dihexadecylcyanoaniline (DHCA) formed highly contrasted gains over entire region, and the grains are the double layers. The difference in Langmuir film of OHNS and DHCA at the air/water interface is consistent with the small tilt angle from the surface normal for OHNS and the large tilt angle for DHCA in the Langmuir-Blodgett films.

Recoverability and vulnerability of navy ships under underwater explosion are critical verification factors in the acquisition phase of navy ships. This paper aims to establish numerical analysis techniques for the underwater explosion of navy ships. Doubly Asymptotic Approach (DAA) Equation of Motion (EOM) of primary shock wave and secondary bubble pulse proposed by Geers-Hunter was introduced. Assuming a non-compressive fluid, reference solution of the DAA EOM of Geers-Hunter using Runge-Kutta method was derived for the secondary bubble pulse phase with an assumed charge conditions. Convergence analyses to determine fluid element size were performed, suggesting that the minimum fluid element size for underwater explosion analysis was 0.1 m. The spherical and cylindrical fluid domains were found to be appropriate for the underwater explosion analyses from the fluid domain shape study. Because the element size of 0.1 m was too small to be applied to the actual navy ships, a very slender beam with the square solid section was selected for the study of fluid domain existence effect. The two underwater explosion models with/without fluid domain provided very similar results in terms of the displacement and stress processes.
In this paper, we describe the structure of the DWMT (discrete wavelet multitone) transceiver for VDSL system. The DWMT transceiver is basically consisted of the transmultiplexer using cosine modulation filter bank (CMFB), time domain equalizer (TEQ) and frequency domain equalizer (FEQ) minimizing the effects of the transmission channel. For FEQ, we expanded the general LMS algorithm to 2-dimensions: time and subchannel axes and examined the 2-dimensional LMS methods with the various array size.

In this paper, using the principle of duality between the spatial and spectral domain, we proposed a new microwave imaging technique of a coherent tomographic formulation in the spatial domain and reconstructed the image of dielectric cylinder through simulation and experiment. The numerical and experimental results for the variety o object size, relative dielectric constant have shown the limitation of Born approximation to be used and the effect of retrieved images for various signal bandwidth.
In this paper, numerical scattering analysis for submerged scatterers is performed using finite and infinite elements. Unbounded domain is truncated into finite domain and finite elements are used in the domain. Infinite elements, So called Infinite Wave Envelope Elements (IWEE) which possess wave-like behavior, are used to take into account the infinite domain on the truncated boundary Scattering from rigid sphere is taken as an example and the effects of the order and mesh size of finite elements, size of finite element model and the order of IWEE are investigated. Quadratic finite element, refined mesh and higher order IWEE are recommended to improve the non-reflection boundary condition in the numerical scattering analysis.

In recent years, one of the most remarkable 5G technologies is massive multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) system which increases spectral efficiency by deploying a large number of transmit-antennas (eg. tens or hundreds transmit-antennas) at base station (BS). However, conventional massive MIMO system using single-polarized (SP) transmit-antennas increases the size of the transmit-array proportionally as the number of transmit-antennas increases. Hence, size reduction of large-scale transmit-array is one of the major concerns of massive MIMO system. To reduce the size of the transmit-array at BS, dual-polarized (DP) transmit-antenna can be the solution to halve the size of the transmit-array since one collocated DP transmit-antenna deploys vertical and horizontal transmit-antennas compared to SP transmit-antennas. Moreover, proposed DP massive MIMO system increases the spectral efficiency by not only in the space domain but also in the polarization domain whereas the conventional SP massive MIMO system increases the spectral efficiency by space domain only. In this paper, the comparative performance of DP and SP massive MIMO systems is analyzed by space division multiple access (SDMA) and space-polarization division multiple access (SPDMA) respectively. To analyze the performance of DP and SP massive MIMO systems, DP and SP spatial channel models (SCMs) are proposed which consider depolarized propagation channels between transmitter and receiver. The simulation results show that the performance of proposed 32 transmitter (Tx) DP massive MIMO system improves the spectral efficiency by about 91% for a large number of user equipments (UEs) compare to 32Tx SP massive MIMO system for identical size of the transmit-array.
This study intended to analyze effects of education of python through meta-analysis. The researcher selected five primary studies reporting statistical data after implementing education of python in elementary classroom settings. Three research questions were stated. What is the total effect size of education of python? What are effect sizes of publication type, dependent variable, and etc.? What are results of meta-regression analysis by grade level, period, and etc.? Findings are as follows. The overall effect size was .598, which is medium. For categorical variables, the effect size of peer-reviewed journal articles was larger than theses. The effect size of affective domain was larger than student achievement and cognitive domain. For meta-regression analysis, education of python was more effective as the period and duration of the program increased. Finally, discussions and recommendations including qualitative investigation on affective domain and program management considering characteristics were presented regarding research findings.

TolC is an outer membrane porin protein and an essential component of drug efflux and type-I secretion systems in Gram-negative bacteria. TolC comprises a periplasmic $\alpha$-helical barrel domain and a membrane-embedded $\beta$-barrel domain. TdeA, a functional and structural homolog of TolC, is required for toxin and drug export in the pathogenic oral bacterium Actinobacillus actinomycetemcomitans. Here, we report the expression of the periplasmic domain of TdeA as a soluble protein by substitution of the membrane-embedded domain with short linkers, which enabled us to purify the protein in the absence of detergent. We confirmed the structural integrity of the TdeA periplasmic domain by size-exclusion chromatography, circular dichroism spectroscopy, and electron microscopy, which together showed that the periplasmic domain of the TolC protein family fold correctly on its own. We further demonstrated that the periplasmic domain of TdeA interacts with peptidoglycans of the bacterial cell wall, which supports the idea that completely folded TolC family proteins traverse the peptidoglycan layer to interact with inner membrane transporters.

Domain switching effect on crack growth in ferroelectric ceramics under combined electric and mechanical loading is investigated. The shape and size of the switching zone is shown to depend strongly on the relative magnitude between the applied electric field and stress field as well as on the ratio of the coercive electric field to the yield electric field. The toughening mechanism is thought to be ferroelectric domain switching leading to the development of a process zone around the crack. Crack-tip stress intensity factor induced by domain switching for the steady state crack growth is numerically obtained.

Digital watermarking of multimedia data is a very active research area that has enjoyed a considerable amount of attention in recent years. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for embedding/detecting a fragile watermark in MPEG-4 compressed video domain (Simple and Advance Simple Profiles). The watermark bits are put directly into Huffman VLC-codespace of quantized DCT domain. The advantage of watermark embedding into the compressed domain is the significant savings for a real-time implementation as it does not require a full decoding operation. The watermark embedding does not change the video file size. The algorithm demonstrates high watermarking capacity, thereby providing reliable foolproof authentication. The results of experimental testing demonstrate that watermark embedding preserves the video quality. Watermark detection is performed without using the original video.
