  • Objectives: This research presents the design and development of a software architecture using natural language processing tools and the use of an ontology of knowledge as a knowledge base. Methods: The software extracts, manages and represents the knowledge of a text in natural language. A corpus of more than 200 medical domain documents from the general medicine and palliative care areas was validated, demonstrating relevant knowledge elements for physicians. Results: Indicators for precision, recall and F-measure were applied. An ontology was created called the knowledge elements of the medical domain to manipulate patient information, which can be read or accessed from any other software platform. Conclusions: The developed software architecture extracts the medical knowledge of the clinical histories of patients from two different corpora. The architecture was validated using the metrics of information extraction systems.

This system provides an objected mechanism to assist domain experts in constructing thesauri: it determines a considerable part of relationship degrees between terms by inheritance and supplies domain experts with information available from a thesaurus being constructed. This information is especially useful to enforce consistency between the hierarchies of a thesaurus, each constructed by different experts in different sites through cooperation. It may minimize the burden of domain experts caused from the exhaustive specification of individual relationship. This system also provides an abstracted browsing and a query based reference, which allow users to easily verify thesaurus terms before they are used in usual boolean queries. The verification is made by actively searching for them in the thesaurus. Reference queries and abstracted browsing views facilitate this searching. The facility is indispensable especially when precision counts for much.

  • For a spread-moored FPSO (Floating Production, Storage, & Off-loading) subjected to environmental excitation from waves, current, and wind, a procedure to determine optimum length and stiffness of mooring lines is suggested using quasi-static frequency domain response analyses. Coupled relations between design parameters are closely examined. In consideration of this, optimized design parameters are proposed based on minimum weight condition. The initial design parameters for numerical analyses are calculated using the static catenary equation of mooring lines. It is demonstrated the line tension and vessel's offset are influenced by the mooring line length and stiffness. Accordingly it is suggested the optimum vessel's offset range should be determined considering line fatigue damage. The availability and limitation of the application of quasi-static analysis method for spread mooring system are explained by comparing the result of time domain analysis with one of frequency domain analysis.

  • In this paper, an approximate optimization program based on GUI(graphic user interface) environment is developed. This program is coded by using Fortran and Visual basic. Fortran is used to Progress approximate optimization process. Visual basic is used to make user environment for user to use conveniently. Inside of this program, it uses two independent programs. One is commercial program, ANSYS, and the other is optimization program, PLBA(Pshenichny-Lim-Belegundu Arora). The former is used to obtain approximate equation of stress and displacement of a structure. The latter is used to solve approximate optimization. This algorithm uses second-order information of a function and active set strategy. This program is connecting ANSYS and PLBA. And it progress the process repeatedly until it obtain optimum value. As a method of approximate optimization, sequential design domain(SDD) is introduced. SDD starts with a certain range which is offseted from midpoint of an initial design domain and then SDD of the next step is determined by optimal point of a prior step.

  • A descriptive-explanatory design was employed in this study. The purpose of this study was identify the level of assertiveness and clinical stress and the relationships between assertiveness and clinical stress in nursing students. A convenient sample of 143 nursing students was used for the study. The results of this study are as follows : 1) The level of assertiveness of nursing students was 3.65 in domain of contents, 3.68 in domain of voice, and 4.13 in domain of body language. Thus the level of asertiveness of nursing students was higher in body language. 2) The level of clinical stress of nursing students was 3.73 in domain of clinical education and evaluation by professors, 3.59 in domain of nurses, 3.32 in domain of human relationships, and 3.30 in domain of environment. Thus the level of clinical stress of nursing students was higher in clinical education and evaluation by professors. 3) The assertiveness of nursing students was found significantly related to human relationships. 4) The clinical stress of nursing students was found significantly related to satisfaction of nursing, satisfaction of clinical practice and priority of candidate for nursing. 5) The assertiveness of nursing students was not found significantly related to clinical stress in nursing students.

  • A pressure wave created by the photoacoustic effect is affected by the medium and by laser parameters. The effect of these parameters on the generated pressure wave can be seen by solving the photoacoustic wave equation. These solutions which are examined in the time domain and the frequency domain should be considered by researchers in acoustic sensor design. In particular, frequency domain analysis contains significant information for designing the sensor. The most important part of this information is the determination of the operating frequency of the sensor. In this work, the laser parameters to excite the medium, and the acoustic signal parameters created by the medium are analyzed. For the first time, we have obtained solutions for situations which have no frequency domain solutions in the literature. The main focal point in this work is that the frequency domain solutions of the acoustic wave equation are performed and the effects of the frequency analysis of the related parameters are shown comparatively from the viewpoint of using them in acoustic sensor designs.

  • Purpose: Current research aimed at exploring whether group entitativity and satisfaction to becoming the member of group have positive effects on group identification, and whether group identification has positive effects on within-in-group domain consumption. This research focused on the mediation role of group identification in the effects of the group entitativity and the satisfaction to becoming the member of group on the within-in-group domain consumption. Research design, data, and methodology: We selected Shandong Province as our experimental target group and people living in Shandong province as our respondents. 316 questionnaire data were collected. The structural equation model in AMOS 26 were used to verify hypotheses. Results: First, group entitativity affected group identification positively. Second, satisfaction to becoming the member of group affected group identification positively. Third, group identification positively influenced on the within-in-group domain consumption. Fourth, the group identification played the full mediation roles in the effects of both the group entitativity and the satisfaction on the within-in-group domain consumption. Conclusions: marketers should highlight the group identification with their target group by stimulating the perception of the consumer's group entitativity and satisfied feelings about the group to induce the intent to purchase their brand as within-in-group domain consumption object.
