구형과 신형 소방 보호장갑의 착탈 시험 및 동작 기민성 평가를 통한 통합형 착용 시험법 (Integrated Test Method by the Evaluation of Don-doff and Mobility of Old and Newly-developed Firefighting Protective Gloves)

  • This present study proposed a newly developed test method to evaluate the dexterity and mobility of a firefighter's protective gloves. The first step evaluated the mobility and dexterity of the current type of fire protective gloves and three new types of protective gloves using Don-doff test, ASTM dexterity, Minnesota dexterity, Bennett hand tool test, and ASTM torque test. Three firefighters ($47.3{\pm}5.0yr$ in age, $178.6{\pm}2.9cm$ in height) participated in a series of experiments. The second step was to design and suggest an integrated test method based on the results of the first experiment. As a result of the first experiment, we concluded that 1) the mobility and dexterity tests for firefighting gloves should include both wet and dry tests, 2) The three kinds of dexterity tests could be integrated into one test, and 3) The don-doff test and the torque test should be independent from the newly developed integrated test. In summary, we suggested a simplified test method that combined ASTM dexterity, Minnesota dexterity, and Bennett hand tool test. The integrated system can reduce total time spent on dexterity tests and improve the validity of the test in terms of firefighters' manual work.

국내외 보급형 소방용 보호장갑의 동작성 평가 -착탈 시험, 기민성 시험, 회전력 시험을 중심으로- (Mobility Evaluation of Popular Firefighting Protective Gloves in Domestic and Foreign Countries -Don-Doff Test, Dexterity Test, and Torque Test-)

  • This research analyzed the manual performance of firefighting protective gloves on global markets in order to suggest an evaluation method for firefighting protective gloves wearing comfort. We collected 13 types of firefighting gloves from domestic and international markets (7 types from Korea, 3 types form Europe, 2 types from the U.S and 1 type from Japan). We set the Don-Doff test as a basal requirement for moving toward to further manual performance tests that consist of: ASTM dexterity test, Minnesota dexterity test, Bennett hand tool test and ASTM torque test. All gloves were evaluated in dry and wet conditions, we included eight current male firefighters ($43.4{\pm}7.0yr$ in age, $173.1{\pm}4.4cm$ in height, $79.9{\pm}9.2kg$ in body mass) for the tests. Four gloves (1 Korea, 1 U.S, 1 Germany, and 1 Japan) out of thirteen firefighting gloves passed the Don-Doff test and had great subject preferences. There was no significant difference between dry and wet conditions on the ASTM dexterity test, Minnesota dexterity test, Bennett hand tool test and ASTM torque test. However, Japanese gloves had the greatest score and showed 3-4 times faster completion time on the ASTM dexterity test (p<.05), 1.2-1.5 times faster on the Minnesota dexterity test (p<.05), as fast as the bare hand on Bennett hand tool test (p<.05), and greater performance on the ASTM torque test compared to bare hand. In conclusion, Don-Doff test in wet conditions should be the first step for a mobility evaluation of domestic firefighting protective gloves; subsequently, a comprehensive test assorting ASTM, Minnesota, and Bennett test should be developed as a second step. The current ASTM torque test can be adopted as a third step. This three-step-method for evaluating firefighting protective glove mobility can be expected to expand into surveys of other safety gloves in Korea.

Scuba Diver's Use of Selection Criteria for Assessing Wetsuit Using FEA Model

  • This study assessed scuba divers' wetsuit selection criteria based on the gender, age and scuba diving commitment level along with identifying currently owned and preferred wetsuit types. Lamb and Kallal's Functional, Expressive, and Aesthetic Consumer Needs (FEA) Model was the conceptual framework used for this study. Scuba diving has seen consistent growth, worldwide, it is necessary to investigate with wetsuit needs of this consumer group. A survey of 302 active scuba divers participated in the study. Total participants included 202 male and 100 female scuba divers. Divers stated fit was the most highly rated criteria with don/doff being most problematic. Female and older divers regarded functional performance criterion greatly(p<.05). Highly committed divers regarded the functional quality (p<.01) and aesthetic/expressive features (p<.05) of the wetsuit as important and owned more wetsuits(p<.01). Gender saw differences in required sizes ranges(p<.001) and style preferences(p<.05). Results suggest gender, age, and commitment levels all impact the wetsuit selection criteria of scuba divers.

신종감염병 대응 비의료인 전담요원 개인보호구 착탈의 융합 교육 효과 (Convergence Education Effect of Donning and Doffing Personal Protective Equipment for Non-medical Personnel to the New Infectious Disease)

  • 본 연구는 신종감염병 대응 전담요원의 개인보호구 착탈의 융합 교육 효과를 확인하고자 시도되었다. Level D 개인보호구 착용 기준에 적합한 28명의 비의료인 신종감염병 대응 전담요원을 대상으로 2018년 3차에 걸쳐 교육 후 개인보호구 착탈의 점수를 수집하였으며 프리드만 검정(Friedman)과 윌콕슨 부호순위 검정(Wilcoxon's Signed-Ranks Test)으로 분석하였다. 연구결과, 교육횟수에 따른 분석에서 착의점수는 유의하게 상승하였고 탈의 점수는 유의한 차이를 보였다. 교육차수별 분석에서는 착의 점수는 1차보다 3차에서 유의하게 상승하였으며 탈의 점수는 1차보다 3차에서 점수가 상승하였으나 유의 하지 않았다. 본 연구의 대상자들은 비의료인이기 때문에 지식이 부족하지만 감염병에 접촉할 확률이 크기 때문에 교육이 필요한 점에서 의미가 크며 본 연구결과를 통하여 개인보호구 탈의 교육의 효과가 상대적으로 낮아 교육회수의 증가 혹은 주기적인 교육의 필요성이 중요하다고 파악되었다.

스타일과 브라 컵 사이즈에 따른 스포츠브라의 착용 쾌적감 분석 연구 (A Study on Comfort of Sports Bras by Style and Bra Cup Size)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the comfort of sports bras by style and bra cup size. The comfort of wear was measured with compression level. The displacement of breast points (BP) after wearing a sports bra was measured. Study subjects evaluated the comfort level of the compression type and encapsulation type sports bras after walking and running. The results showed that all types of experimental sports bras provided more coverage than everyday bras. The compression type bra placed more pressure on the breast, chest, and under-bust than the encapsulation type bra. The BP distance decreased for all types. The C cup subjects' breasts were raised after wearing the sports bras. The B cup subjects had less comfort with the compression style bra than C cup subjects. The racer back style bra with high neckline and small band girth placed more pressure than others. They were difficult to don and doff and the least comfortable. These results imply that the racer back compression style sports bra was uncomfortable for women with large breast, while the encapsulation style bra with the compressing panel at upper chest was the most comfortable. The bras that shortened BP distance placed more pressure on the breast. But the bra that raised and shorted the distance of BP provided better comfort for large-breasted subjects.

상지 운동 기능 장애인의 착.탈의 자립성 연구 (A Study on Donning and Doffing Independence of the Person with Disabilities on Upper-limbs)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate donning and doffing independence of the disabled individuals. The subjects of this study were who had kinetic disabilities on upper-limbs. 31 women and 38 children were participated in the survey. They were classified with six groups according to their upper-limbs' kinetic ability levels. Three upper-limbs' kinetic abilities were adopted: Lifting arms up to the chest, twisting shoulder to throw arms toward the back, and buttoning clothes by oneself. The independency of donning and doffing of 14 upper-body garment styles were evaluated by subjects. The donning and doffing independency of 14 garment styles was significantly differentiated by the level of kinetic abilities and garment styles. The person who able to button clothes by oneself could don and doff clothes by oneself. The results also revealed that the independency of donning and doffing was significantly different between cerebral palsy and apoplexy groups. The persons having a stroke of apoplexy were more likely to be able to dress independently than the persons with cerebral palsy. The persons with a paralysed arm were more likely able to wear ready-to-wear clothes of various styles. The donning and doffing independency was also significantly differentiated by the styles of garments. The tight fit style garments were more difficult to be dressed independently than the loose fit style garments. The jacket and shirts, which were buttoned from neck to bottom, were more difficult to be dressed independently than T-shirts.

상지장애인의 컴퓨터 사용을 위한 무선 자이로마우스의 개발 및 임상평가 (Development and Clinical Evaluation of Wireless Gyro-mouse for the Upper Extremity Disabled to Use Computer)

  • 본 연구에서는 교통사고나 뇌졸중 등에 의해 상지의 장애를 가지는 장애인을 대상으로 하여, 인터넷의 브라우저와 같은 소프트웨어를 사용 할 수 있는 컴퓨터 인터페이스로서 자이로센서를 이용한 무선 자이로 마우스시스템를 개발하고, 임상평가를 통해 그 유용성을 확인하고자 한다. 시스템 개발에 있어서 주안점은, 첫째, 장애인의 경우 휠체어나 침대에 누워서 마우스 조작을 할 수 있도록 시스템의 무선화하는 것, 둘째, 착탈의 용이성과 미관을 위하여 센서를 헤드 밴드에 삽입하는 것, 셋째, 컴퓨터 운영체제에게 클릭신호를 전달하기 위하여, $C5{\sim}C6$ 환자들의 경우에는 클릭 스위치를 사용하고, C4환자의 경우에는 고개의 끄덕임을 검출하도록 하는 것이다. 개발된 시스템을 척수손상으로 인한 상지 장애인을 대상으로 평가실험을 실시하였다. 그 결과 시행횟수가 증가할수록 상하/좌우 이동시의 목표위치에 대한 실제위치의 오차가 감소하고, 1분당 클릭률이 증가하는 경향을 확인하였다. 이로부터, 개발된 무선 자이로마우스 시스템은 환자의 반복사용을 통해 그 유용성이 증가할 것을 알 수 있다.
