A Study of CIGS Coated Thin-Film Layer using Doctor Blade Process (Doctor blade를 이용한 용액형 CIGS 균일 코팅에 관한 연구)

  • Recently, printing and coating technologies application fields have been expanded to the energy field such as solar cell. One of the main reasons, why many researchers have been interested in printing technology as a manufacturing method, is the reduction of manufacturing cost. In this paper, We fabricated CIGS solar cell thin film layer by doctor blade methods using synthesis of CIS precursor nanoparticles ink on molybdenum (Mo) coated soda-lime glass substrate. Synthesis CIS precursor nanoparticles ink fabrication was mixed Cu, In, Se powder and Ethylenediamine, using microwave and centrifuging. Using multi coating process as we could easily fabrication a fine flatness CIS thin-film layer ($0.7{\sim}1.35{\mu}m$), and reduce a manufacture cost and process steps. Also if we use printing and coating method and solution process in each layer of CIGS solar cell (electrode, buffer), it is possible to fabricate all printed thin-film solar cell.

  • This study reports on a uniform resin coating method by using a doctor blade type dispenser. For high productivity, continuous imprint-lithography has been studied, and developed fabrication systems are used in several applications such as anti-reflection films, dry adhesives, and water collecting surfaces. In the continuous fabrication field, researchers have typically focused on patterning and demolding procedures. During the roll-to-roll fabrication process, however, the uniform resin coating process is also important in order to obtain a high quality product, which can be evaluated by uniform thickness, precise geometric expressions, and a thin residual layer. To achieve these, a doctor blade type dispenser was designed and fabricated. As a result, thickness of coated resin was well controlled by modulating the flow rate of the resin and blading gap. In addition, a very thin layer coating process (${\sim}10{\mu}m$) was achieved by softly contacting the blade on the substrate.

Electrochemical Characteristics of EDLC Fabricated by Different Preparation Processes of Activated Carbon Electrode (활성탄소 전극의 제조공정에 따른 EDLC의 전기화학적 특성)

  • The electrochemical characteristics and specific capacitance were investigated by preparation processes (dip coating method, doctor blade coating method and paste rolling method) of activated carbon electrode for an EDLC(electric double layer capacitor). The EDLC using $LiPF_6$ salts and PC-DEC solvents showed good specific capacitance, 130F/g and small IR-drop at linear time-voltage curve. 0.11V, Cyclic voltammetry analysis using the activated carbon electrode prepared by dip coating method was shown closer to ideal EDLC characterization.

High Power Characteristics of Amorphous $MnO_2$ Electrode by Variation of Electrode Thickness (비정질 $MnO_2$ 전극의 전극두께에 따른 고출력 특성 변화)

  • Screen-printing and doctor blade method were investigated and proposed as an electrode coating process for high power capacitor. CV measured from the amorphous $MnO_2$ electrode prepared by screen-printing shows closer to ideal capacitor characteristics. Specific capacitances calculated from CVs with potential scan rate of 50mV/s were 5.8, 81.8, and 172.0 F/g for electrode thickness of $140{\mu}m,\;24{\mu}m,\; 3{\mu}m$, respectively. Assumed that utilization of active $MnO_2$ in electrode of screen-printing is $100\%$, those were $3.4\%$ in one of paste method and $47.6\%$ in one of doctor blade method. The screen-printing can be good technique to coat thin film on current collector for high power application.

Fabrication of CuInSe2 Absorber Layers for Thin Film Solar Cells by Doctor Blade Coating and Selenization using Solution Precursor (용액 전구체의 닥터블레이드 코팅 및 셀렌화 열처리를 통한 CuInSe2 박막 태양전지용 광흡수층 제조)

  • In this paper, a novel non-vacuum technique is described for the fabrication of a $CuInSe_2$ (CIS) absorber layer for thin film solar cells using a low-cost precursor solution. A solution containing Cu- and Inrelated chemicals was coated onto a Mo/glass substrate using the Doctor blade method and the precursor layer was then selenized in an evaporation chamber. The precursor layer was found to be composed of CuCl crystals and amorphous In compound, which were completely converted to chalcopyrite CIS phase by the selenization process. Morphological, crystallographic and compositional analyses were performed at each step of the fabrication process by SEM, XRD and EDS, respectively.

  • The sliding wear behavior of Plasma-Sprayed Al$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$ Coating against Cemented Carbide were Investigated using a pin on disk type tester. The experiment was conducted using Al$_2$O$_3$-TiO$_2$ Coaling as pin material and Cemented Carbide as disk material and different operating conditions, at room temperature under a dry conditions. The results showed that the type B(250kw power) appeared average wear rate Is lowed than type A(80kw power). The specific wear rate of Specimen A1 Increased with normal load. But The specific wear rate of Specimen B1 decreased with normal load. Average wear rate of specimen A3, B3 are lowed than other but the sliding wear mechanism of edge were rough.

Preparation and characterization of $TiO_2$ Thin Film By Various temperature ($TIO_2$ 전극의 소결온도에 따른 DSSCS 제조 및 성격)

  • 염료감응형 태양전지의 효율을 향상을 시키기 위하여, 이산화티타니아박막을 doctor-blade 방법으로 FTO 기판위에 15-16um 코팅을 한뒤, 다른 온도의 $400^{\circ}C-600^{\circ}C$ 범위에서, 소결을 하였다. 상대전극은 FTO 기판위에 5Ml의 Pt용액을 가지고, $450^{\circ}C$온도에서 제작을 하였다. 실험의 결과 이산화티타니아의 표면거칠기 및 입자사이즈의 소결의 형상에 따라 DSSC의 효율의 상관관계가 영향을 받았다. 표면의 형상은 AFM으로 측정을 하였으며, 표면의 단차가 RMS의 값이 7nm이하 일 때, 효율의 향상을 이루었다. 실험결과 $500^{\circ}C$ 이하일 때, 상대적으로 낮은 open circuit voltage를 이루었으며, 낮은 Fill-factor를 이루었다. $500^{\circ}C$이상의 온도에서는 상대적으로 높은 high circuit voltage와 높은 fill factor를 나타내었다. 실험결과 $500^{\circ}C$에서 소결된 전극을 가진 DSSC가 단락의 전압과 개방전류가 상호보완된 적정값을 가져 가장 개선된 FF와 Eff를 나타내었다. 이와 같은 특성은 이산화티타니아의 준위 모식도에서 설명이 될수 있고, 이산화티타니아의 최적의 necking 및 pore, 입자크기등이 제어될수 있음을 의미한다.

Coating Property of Hybrid Structured Photo-Electrode to Increase Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells Efficiency (염료감응형 태양전지의 효율 향상을 위한 하이브리드 구조 광전극의 코팅특성)

  • The hybrid structured photo-electrode for dye-sensitized solar cells was fabricated based on the composites of $TiO_2$ nanoparticles and nanowires. Three samples with different hybrid structures were prepared with 17 vol%, 43 vol%, and 100 vol% nanowires. The energy conversion efficiency was enhanced from 5.54% for pure nanoparticle cells to 6.01% for the hybrid structure with 17 vol% nanowires. For the hybrid structured layers with high nanowires concentration (43 vol% and 100 vol%), the efficiency decreased with the nanowire concentration, because of the decrease of specific surface area, and of thus decreased current density. The random orientations of $TiO_2$ nanowires can be preserved by the doctor blade process, resulted in the enhanced efficiency. The hybrid structured $TiO_2$ layer can possess the advantages of the high surface area of nanoparticles and the rapid electron transport rate and the light scattering effect of nanowires.

Study and Fabrication of Transparent Electrode Film by using Thermal-Roll Imprinted Ag Mesh Pattern and Coated Conductive Polymer (열형-롤 각인으로 형성한 Ag 격자 패턴과 전도성 고분자 코팅을 이용한 투명전극 필름 제작에 관한 연구)

  • In this study, to fabricate a low-resistance and high optical transparency electrode film, the following steps were performed: the design and manufacture of electroforming stamp, the fabrication of a thermal roll-imprinted polycarbonate (PC) patterned films, the filled low-resistance Ag paste using doctor blade process on patterned PC films and spin coating by conductive polymers. As a result of PC films imprinted line width of $26.69{\pm}2\;{\mu}m$, channel length of $247.57{\pm}2\;{\mu}m$, and pattern depth of $7.54{\pm}0.2\;{\mu}m$. Ag paste to fill part of the patterned film with conductive polymer coating and then the following parameters were obtained: a sheet resistance of $11.1\;{\Omega}/sq$ optical transparency values at a wavelength of 550 nm was 80.31 %.

  • Recently, bulk hetero-junction cells have been extensively studied by many researchers. Most of these cells were fabricated by spin coater. However, the spin coating process is not favorable to the large-scaled industry because it is not compatible with roll-to-roll process. One of the alternative methods is Doctor blading. In this study, we fabricated large OPV cells having total area of $100cm^2$. The buffer layer was Poly-(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) : poly-(styrenesulfonate) aqueous dispersion (PEDOT:PSS) and the active material is poly (3-hexythiophene) (P3HT) and phenyl-C61-butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) blend in the solvent of Chlorobenzene. All of the organic layers were coated by dragging the blade with a speed of 5~20 mm/s on the stage with a temperature of $50^{\circ}C$. As-bladed PEDOT:PSS layer was baked at $120^{\circ}C$ for 10 minutes to eliminate the water. The cell structure is patterned ITO substrate/PEDOT:PSS/P3HT:PCBM/LiF/Al. The topmost electrode, LiF/Al, was deposited by thermal evaporation. After depositing electrode, and the cell was annealed at $150^{\circ}C$ for 30 minutes. The measured ISC, VOC, fill factor, and PCE were 2.95 A, 5.86 V, 0.32, and 0.78%, respectively. PCE was quite low but the large active area could be obtained successfully.
