In 1999 and 2003, Padmanabham established two results (one each) for Exton's triple hypergeometric series $X_8$. We aim at showing that Exton's later result can be derived from his former one.

'미래로, 세계로 향하는 ESCO'. 지난 2월 18일 서울 팔래스호텔에서 ESCO협회의 제10차 정기총회가 개최되었다. 이번 총회는 미국 ESCO협회와의 MOU 체결과 ESCO 공로상 수상 및 협회의 새로운 임원 선임 등 뜻깊은 순서들로 채워졌다. 미국 ESCO협회의 Bob Dixon 전(前)회장과 ESCO협회 이범용 회장을 비롯해 70여 명의 회원들이 참석해 성황리에 마친 정기총회를 소개한다.

A Conjugate Gradient (CG) algorithm for unconstrained minimization is proposed which is invariant to a nonlinear scaling of a strictly convex quadratic function and which generates mutually conjugate directions for extended quadratic functions. It is derived for inexact line searches and is designed for the minimization of general nonlinear functions. It compares favorably in numerical tests with the original Dixon algorithm on which the new algorithm is based.

Five results closely related to the well-known Preece's identity obtained earlier by Choi and Rathie will be derived here by using some known hypergeometric identities. In addition to this, the identities obtained earlier by Choi and Rathie have also been written in a compact form.

In 'Nature', Dixon et al. reported the first cloned mammalian G-protein coupled receptor sequence (1). The DNA sequence from a hamster encodes the $\beta$$_2$-aderenergic receptor. In the same year, 1986, Kubo et al. published the muscarinic acetylcholine receptor sequence (M$_1$) from a rat in the same journal (2). Both groups purified the receptor proteins and identified the DNA sequences (1, 2). (omitted)

We will study the generalization of theorems on the pe-riodic locally - solvable FC-groups to the theorems on the periodic locally-solvable CC-groups. The main theorem is the Theorem A. For the proof the inverse limit of inverse system and topological ap-proch developed by Dixon is useful.
