Design Equations for the H-plane Power Divider with a Circular Post in a Rectangular Waveguide

  • Universal design equations are presented for the H-plane T-junction power divider with a circular conducting post in a rectangular waveguide. For a given operating frequency and power split ratio, the post offset from the T-junction center line, the distance between the post and the waveguide wall, and the post diameter can be adjusted to obtain a minimum reflection at the input waveguide. Optimum values of the post offset are given in terms of the normalized frequency and the power split ratio. Corresponding values of the post diameter and the distance of the post from the waveguide wall are given in terms of the normalized frequency and the post offset.

  • In this paper, two configurations (T-type and Y-type) of dual band Wilkinson Power Divider based upon Hilbert curves are presented. Formerly, the concept of Hilbert Curves was implemented in only designing microstrip antennas. In power dividers, this is the very first attempt of incorporating them for size reduction. In addition to this, an effect of inculcation of high-dielectric constant layer (Hafnium-oxide, HfO2, εr= 25) between a substrate and top metallization in both configurations was investigated. The proposed configurations are designed on a high resistive silicon substrate (HRS) for L and S bands with resonating frequencies of 1.575 and 3.4 GHz. Both configurations have return loss that is better than 20 dB and an insertion loss of around 6 dB; isolation better than 30 dB was achieved for both models.

  • This paper describes the design of a CMOS frequency synthesizer using programmable frequency divider with novel architecture. A novel architecture of programmable divider can be producted all of integer-N and fabricated by 0.65$\mu\textrm{m}$ 2-poly, 2-metal CMOS technology. Frequency synthesizer is simulated by 0.25$\mu\textrm{m}$ 2-poly, 5-metal CMOS technology. This circuit has settling time of 1.5${\mu}\textrm{s}$ and power consumption of 70㎽. Operating frequency of the frequency synthesizer is 820MHz∼l㎓ with a 2.5V supply voltage.

  • In voltage measurement by using voltage divider with series resistors, error is generated caused by the variation of resistance. In order to reduce these errors, the hardware cost tends to increase in the previous works. In the proposed method, three resistors are used for the voltage divider of which the organization is adjusted by using switches. Three voltages are measured and the ratio of resistance is calculated based on the measured voltages. Since the resistance ratio is calculated by measuring voltages and additional hardware cost is minimal, the voltage can be measured with high accuracy and low cost. Experimental results show that the mean absolute error is 12.1 mV when the input voltage ranges from 5 V to 50 V.

  • New design method of small-sized 3-dB $0^{\circ}/180^{\circ}$ ring hybrid and Wilkinson power divider using both lumped elements and distributed elements are presented. At the center frequency of 900 MHz 3-dB $0^{\circ}/180^{\circ}$ ring hybrid and Wikinson power divider are designed and tested. Good agreements are obtained between measured and theoretical modeling results, and at the same time the circuit area is reduced by more than 70% compared with the discributed-type circuits.

  • Natural convection heat transfer in an enclosure with an opening in the right vertical wall and a heat source at the bottom surface is investigated using a holographic interferometric technique. The effects of the opening length, divider length attached to the top wall, and heater temperature on the temperature distribution are examined. The openging length as well as the divider length greatly affects the degree of inflow and outflow of air. With a small opening, the opening doesn't affect much the upward warm air flow resulting in the symmetric temperature distribution. On the other hand, with the increase of the opening length, the inward cold flow moves the upward flow to the left direction. With the increase of the divider length, temperature in the lower region of enclosure becomes higher for the small opening and lower for the large opening.

  • The main measurement uncertainty factors in DC high-voltage dividers for a national high-voltage standard are the measurement uncertainty of low-voltage arm and the stability of a high-voltage supply. In this study, the uncertainties by the two factors are greatly improved. As a result the measurement uncertainty for the DC high-voltage divider is reduced from $16{\times}10^{-6}(k=2)$ to $8{\times}10^{-6}(k=2)$ which is at international level.

  • In this paper, an analysis of microstrip-slotline transiton is performed using a 3D vector Finite Element Method(FEM). On the base of the analysis, power divider/combiner is designed. The optimal structure for equal power division in Ka band is also proposed.

  • This paper presents the development technology of standard resistor divider for full lightning impulse voltage. The ability of high voltage bulk power equipment to withstand lighting stroke is usually evaluated by means of full lightning impulse voltage. Lightning impulse voltage test has been essential to evaluate the insulation performance of electrical power apparatus. Recently International standard (IEC 60) on high voltage measurement techniques is being revised and requests a formal traceability of high voltage measurements. Therefore, general interest for this area has grown considerably during last years, and several international intercomparisions have been completed already worldwide, i.e. Europe, Japan, America etc.. In this viewpoint, we have also investigated the standard resistor divider with shield, which satisfies the IEC recommendation.

  • The 7-dial inductive voltage divider (IVD) which is divided the in put voltage precisely upto 10-7 were fabricated by using the toroidal cores made of super-mumetal strips of 0.025 mm thick and special decade switches. The cores ate of the initial permeability of 200,000 and magnetic flux density of 0.5 T. The in phase and quadrature ratio errors are evaluated to less than ${\pm}4{\times}10^{-7}$ and ${\pm}5{\times}10^{-6}$ rad. respectively. The fabrication techniques used are more discussed in this paper.
