  • Marston (1913) and Spangler's (1982) theory was widely used in the analysis of the earth pressure of the narrow and long excavated ditch type backfield ground. Their theory was more clearly explained by expressing the minor principle stress arch connecting the minor principle stress link induced by interaction between the excavated wall surface and the backfilled earth. which was done by R.L. Handy(1985). Later C.G. Kellogg(1993) extended the study from vertical symmetric to incline symmetric in the backfill space type research. In the C.G. Kellogg's study, it is assumed that the resistance of wall friction on the sloping wall could be replaced by the internal friction angle in the sloping section bottom. In the study, the resistance of wall friction in the sloping section bottom, which was applied by C.G. Kellogg, would be different in magnitude with the resistance of wall friction in sloping section. The magnitude is expected to affect in the earth pressure calculation and verified by the soil test box, the C.G. Kellogg's theory, the numerical analysis and the modified C.G. Kellogg's theory considering the friction resistance to influence the incline wall.

  • Purpose: It is not easy to drive a rice-transplanter avoiding underlapped or overlapped transplanting in paddy fields. An automated guidance system for the riding-type rice-transplanter would be necessary to operate the rice-transplanter autonomously or to assist the beginning drivers as a driving aid. Methods: A prototype of guidance system was composed of embedded computers, RTK-GPS, and a power-steering mechanism. Two Kalman filters were adopted to overcome sparse positioning data (1 Hz) from the RTK-GPS. A global Kalman filter estimated the posture of rice-transplanter every one second, and a local Kalman filter calculated the posture from every new estimation of the global Kalman filter with an interval of 200 ms. A PID controller was applied to the row-following mode control. A control method of U-turning mode was developed as well. A stepping motor with a reduction gear set was used to rotate the shaft of steering wheel. Results: Test trials for U-turning and row-following modes were done in a paddy field after some parameters have been tuned at the ground speed range of 0.3 ~ 1.2 m/s. The minimum RMS error of offset was 3.13 cm at the ground speed of 0.3 m/s while the maximum RMS error was 13.01 cm at 1.2 m/s. The offset RMS error tended to increase as the ground speed increased. The target point distance, LT also affected the system performance and PID controller parameters should be adjusted on different ground speeds. Conclusions: A target angle-based PID controller plus stationary steering angle controller made it possible for the rice-transplanter to steer autonomously by following a reference line accurately and even on U-turning mode. However, as condition in paddy fields is very complicated, the system should control the ground speed that prevents it from deviating too much due to ditch and slope.

  • The pavement is generally used on the highways, local loads, roads for bicycle riding and neighborhood living facility such as parking lot, plaza, park and sports facilities. However, the pavement material that is usually used on the most of roads is impermeable asphalt-concrete and cement-concrete. If the pavement material is impermeable, many problems can be happened on the drainage facilities in the rainy season. Additionally, a lot of rainwater on the pavement surface cannot permeate to the underground and flows to the sewage ditch, stream and river, etc. If a lot of rainwater flows at once, the floods can be out along the streams and rivers. So, underground water can be exhausted. Micro organisms cannot live in the underground. Recently, many studies has been conducted to exploit the permeable concrete that has high performance permeability. However, it is required to develop the permeable concrete which has high strength and durability. In this study, permeable and strength tests were performed to investigate the permeable characteristics of porous concrete according to fine aggregate content and substitution ratio of blast furnace slag. In this test, crushed stones with 10~20 mm and sand with 5~10 mm were used as a coarse aggregate and a fine aggregate respectively. The substitution ratio of blast furnace slag to cement weight is 0 %, 15 %, and 30 %. The ratio of fine aggregate to total aggregate is 0 %, 18 %, and 35 %. As a result, permeability coefficient was decreased according to fine aggregate ratio of total aggregate. Compressive strength was also decreased according to substitution ratio of blast furnace slag.

  • If slope height was more than 20 meters, we conducted an analysis of stereographic projection and limit equilibrium at this slope. We proposed reduction of slope face angle and reinforcement of rock bolt depending on analysis. Blasting design : Standard pattern based on result of local test blasting was made for blasting design. Vibration criterion was set for less than 3.0mm/s because of outworn buildings and inhabitants opinions. Production blasting and Controlled blasting has been done as Construction standard pattern. After Vibration Monitoring has been done, so that we can control of complement. "Bidding Document" and AASHTO 2001 "A Policy on Geometric Design of Highways and Streets" were so for design criteria of earthwork but they were different actual design criteria and left something to be desired in Afghanistan. Therefore, although "Bidding Document" and "AASHTO 2001" were basic design criteria, domestic design criteria was reflected in this design criteria for complement by discussion with supervisor. Drainage design : For stability ratio, ditch of arch block and stonework was designed by rainfall data for the 13 years and discussion with supervisor. Pavement was designed as flexible pavement. Because these days in Afghanistan postwar repair works, especially urgent repairing of roads and newly making of roads, are very highly in progress, I think that Afghanistan is the region about which our construction technical experts should have great concerns.

  • Damage such as landslides has been caused by natural phenomenon like a heavy rain. As appropriate countermeasures, rather than analysing the cause of the landslide, we used methods of check dam installation and maintenance mountain basin. A check dam is a small, sometimes temporary, dam constructed across a swale, drainage ditch, or waterway to counteract erosion by reducing water flow velocity. In this study, we analysed the adequacy of check dam built to prevent further damage after landslides through GIS and examined the sediment erosion in the existing check dams for an ideal location of check dam, considering the accessibility and size. As a result of reviewing soil loss in the study watershed according to RUSLE(Revised Universal Soil Loss Equation), the basin I had about 2% soil loss reduction, the basin II showed less than 1 % soul loss reduction, and basin III showed the reducing effect of 5 % soil erosion.

  • This study was conducted to develop a dry paddy seeder of strip tillage. The prototype is 8 rows drill seeder, which is composed of a strip tillage, sowing and fertilizing device, and pressing wheels to do the strip tillage, sowing, fertilizing, and draining ditch, simultaneously. The performances of prototype was evaluated through the investigation of fuel consumption, tillage torque, ratio of soil breaking, and economical efficiency and the results were compared with these of a dry paddy seeder that needs whole tillage. According to the USDA textural classification, the experiment field was composed of sandy loam which consisted of 56.8 of sand, 30.2 of silt and 13.0 % of clay, respectively. Its hardness ranged from 952 to 1,673 kPa depending on the soil depth, and its soil moisture content was 24.9%(d. b.) Fuel consumption of the prototype was 5,015g/hr at 2,000 rpm of engine, which was consequently 64% smaller than that of the conventional dry paddy seeder. For the tillage torque, it ranged from 132 to 206N$.$m depending on the tillage pitch, which was 10∼30% smaller than that of the conventional dry paddy seeder. The ratio of soil braking of the prototype was 87∼98%, whereas that of the conventional dry paddy seeder was 80∼97%. The working performance of the prototype was surveyed to be 3.8hours/ha, which was about 5 times higher than that of the conventional dry paddy seeder. The cost reduction of 26.3% was obtained by using the prototype.

본 연구에 사용된 모델은 IWA(International Water Association) 활성슬러지 모델 No.1 (ASM No.1)이었고, GPS-X가 시뮬레이터로 사용되었다.

  • This article introduce the manufacturing technique of Silla potteries based on the result excavated from Songogdong and Mulchunri site in Gyungju. As a result, we selected the kiln-site to produce Silla potteries and knew the feature which following to make them. 1. The Environmental elements to take a kiln-site were abundant fuel, plenty water and suitable soil. In particular, efficient usage of refracted winds and reserved space of forepart in the kiln-site were importantly applied to select place of kiln-site. 2. The structure of the kiln-body have been changing according to the time. It could be massproduced by produce-group from the middle and end of sixth centry which the fireplace-kiln was generalized. 3. The work center of equipments were related kiln-site. It consisted of mixed wheel, keepingpit and ditch. We knew that a look-out shed had been appeared according to utility purpose variously. 4. It sees as trimming trace of inner and outter aspects in excavated potteries and we knew that wheel had been turn to the contrast watch direction. For producing pottery of the good guality, various kiln-tools had been used already at Silla period and they used for the different purpose. 5. We intended to know method for laying the potteries in the kiln through the example of the adherent pottery to be melted. Finally, manufature and tomb-site are separated by the time through current situation of Songokdong and Mulchonri site. At the same time, we could know that group of Chounbuk kiln-site moved from the south to the north step by step.

  • Various development works inevitably increase cutting slopes due to land use, and many of trails managed by different authorities are being deteriorated by long-term weathering. Collapse of slopes causes unavoidable damage of property and loss of lives because of its uncertainty and difficulty in predicting its occurrence. In order to overcome the unavoidability, America, Japan, and several European nations analyze the kinetic energy and moving distance when rocks of upper slope move along the inclined plane, via field tests and computerized interpretation of the test results. Also, they are making efforts to develop measures with which the kinetic energy of the rocks moving along the slope is absorbed and fails to reach to specific structures. However, domestic researches just focus on fragmentary prediction of rockfall using existing programs, and there have been few approaches to identify interpretation methods appropriate for domestic cases or determination of parameters. In this context, we in this study defined rockfall types and affecting factors and analyzed effects of parameters using a general-purpose rockfall simulation program to understand principles of rockfall and to estimate effects of various parameters.
