  • This paper presents a new method of external load disturbance compensation using deadbeat load torque observer and gain compensation by parameter estimator. The response of the permanent magnet synchronous motor(PMSM) follows the nominal plant. The load torque compensation method is composed of a deadbeat observer. To reduce the noise effect, the post-filter implemented by moving average(MA) process is adopted. The parameter compensator with recursive least square method(RLSM) parameter estimator is suggested to make the new system work as same as the name plate system which in used to take gains. The proposed estimator is combined with a high performance load torque observer to resolve the problems. As a result, the proposed control system has a robust and precise system against the load torque and the parameter variation. A stability and usefulness are verified by computer simulation and experiment.

  • This paper describes the design of a robust output-feedback controller for a single-input single-output nonlinear dynamical system with a full relative degree. While all the previous research works on the output-feedback control are based on dynamic observers, a new state estimator which uses the past values of the measurable system output is proposed. We name it backward-difference state estimator since the derivatives of the output are estimated simply by backward difference of the present and past values of the output. The disturbance generated due to the error between the estimated and real state variables is compensated using an additional robustifying control law whose gain is tuned adaptively. Overall control system guarantees that the tracking error is asymptotically convergent and that all signals involved are uniformly bounded. Theoretical results are illustrated through a simulation example of inverted pendulum.

  • This paper proposes a new anti-slip re-adhesion control system fur electric railway vehicle driven by inverter-fed induction motors. This paper introduces an instantaneous tangential farce coefficient estimator between driving wheel and rail, which is based on disturbance observer. The torque command of proposed system regulates to exceed this estimated tangential farce coefficient in order to avoid undesirable slip phenomenon of driving wheels. We have already proposed the anti-slip re-adhesion control system based on disturbance observer for simplified one wheel equivalent model successfully. This paper extend to this system to the actual bogie system, which has four driving wheels driven by two induction motors fed by one inverter. In order to apply anti-slip re-adhesion control to the actual bogie system a new anti-slip re-adhesion control based on both disturbance observer and speed sensor-less vector control of induction motor with quick response are combined. The experimental results and the numerical simulation results prove the validity of the proposed control system.

  • In this paper, a discrete-time variable structure control method using recursively defined switching function and a decoupled variable structure disturbance compensator is used to achieve high performance circular motion control of a CNC machining center. The discrete-time variable structure control with the decoupled disturbance compensator method developed in this paper uses a recursive switching function defined as the sum of the current tracking error vector and the previous value of the switching function multiplied by a positive constant less than one. This recursive switching function provides much improved performance compared to the method that uses a switching function defined only as a linear combination of the current tracking error. Enhancements in tracking performance are demonstrated in the circular motion control using a CNC milling machine.

  • As well known when the linear machine is operated between two points repeatedly under positioning control, there are various positioning error at the moment of zero speed owing to the non-linear disturbance like as unpredictable friction force. To remove this positioning error, a simple least order disturbance observer is introduced and is actually implemented in this study. Due to this simple algorithm the over-all machine system can be modified to simple arbitrary given one-mass load without any disturbance. So, the total construction process for positioning control system is much easier than old one. Moreover, to generate a proper effective position profile with the limited actual machine force, a very powerful on-line mass identification algorithm using the load force estimator is presented. In the proposed mass identification algorithm, the exact load mass can be calculated during only one moving stage under a normally generated position profile. All presented algorithm is verified with experimental result with commercial linear servo machine system.

As a result, the response of PMSM fellows that of the nominal plant. The load torque compensation method is compose of a neural deadbeat observer. To reduce of the noise effect, the post-filter, which is implemented by MA process, is proposed. • The control systems with friction cause the steady state error and slow response, because friction is a sensitive to the change of system condition and has highly nonlinear characteristics. To overcome these problems and do precise position control for a ball-screw system, we use Coulomb friction estimator and the sliding mode control(SMC) to compensate its negative effect. The applied SMC for tracking position has a characteristics of robust stability and reducing chattering, and is derived from the Lyapunov stability theorem and reaching condition. Compensating the estimated friction torque to the bounded disturbance term of the SMC's equivalent control input, it has a tracking performance better than the PID from the experimental results.

  • A method for actively controlling dynamic reaction forces in flexible structures subject to persistent excitations is presented. Since reaction forces are not directly measured in flexible structures, reaction forces are estimated by using the Kalman filter. The estimated reaction force is used as an error signal in the adaptive feedforward disturbance cancellation controller. In order to compensate the static effect of the truncated modes in the reaction forces, the residual flexibility matrix is used with the Kalman filter. The paper presents the formulation of the reaction forces in conjunction with the Kalman filter estimator and the adaptive feedforward controller. The results show that the dynamic reaction forces at its supports in a flexible beam test rir are well suppressed.

  • This paper deals with the development of fault tolerant control for a nonlinear boiler system with noise and disturbance. The MCMBPC(Multivariable Constrained Model Based Predictive Control) is adopted for the control of the specific boiler turbin model. The fault detection and diagnosis are accomplished with the Kalman filter and two bias estimators. Once a fault is detected, two Bias estimators are driven to estimate the fault and to discriminate Process fault and sensor fault. In this paper, a fault tolerant control scheme combining MCMBPC with a fault compensation method based on the bias estimator is proposed. The proposed scheme has been applied to the nonlinear boiler system and shown a satisfactory performance through some simulations.

  • A disturbance rejection controller using eccentricity filtering and LQ control techniques is proposed to alleviate significantly the effect of roll eccentricity in multivariable cold-rolling processes. Fundamental problems such as process time delay inherent in exit thickness measurement and non-stationary characteristics of roll eccentricity signals can be overcome by the proposed control method. The filtered instantaneous estimate of roll eccentricity may be exploited to improve instantaneous estimate of the exit thickness variation based on roll force and roll gap mearsurements, and a feedforward compensator is augmented as a reference for a gaugemeter thickness estimator. And, LQ feedback controller is combined with eccentricity filter for the attenuation of the exit thickness variation due to the entry thickness variation. The simulation results show that eccentricity components have been significantly eliminated and simultaneously other distrubances also have been attenuated.
