  • In this study, we propose a method of digital control to drive the vibrating gyroscope using electromagnetic-force. The gyroscope requires accurate vibration control and signal processing for high performance. Conventional PLL based analog controller is not only difficult to manufacture but also weak to outer environment such as temperatures, air pressures and etc. But digital controller using DSP can consistently maintain the cylinder vibration and perform digital signal processing regardless of disturbance. DSP's PWM function was utilized to control the vibration, and rotation-detecting algorithm was developed. Finally, the controller was verified by simulation and experiment using rotation-rate table.

  • This paper deals with a position control problem of a hydraulic proportional position control system using a nonlinear friction compensation control. As nonlinear friction, stiction and coulomb friction forces are considered and modeled as deadzone and external disturbance respectively. In order to compensate this nonlinearities, we designed the controller which is the adaptive friction compensator using discrete time Model Reference Adaptive Control method in this paper. Digital Signal Processing board is employed for data acquisition and manipulation. The experimental results show that response is slow and steady-state error cannot be compensated properly without friction compensation but this compensator is effective to obtain fast response and good steady-state response.

  • Due to the variety of disturbance, it is not ease to accomplish the in-process detection of weld line with non-contact sensor. To get around this difficulties problem develop an automatic seam tracking weld system, the reliable signal processing algorithm has been recommanded. In this research, laser displacement sensor is applied as a seam finder in the automatic tracking system. The sensor is controlled by a dc servo motor which is mounted at X-Y moving table. X-Y moving table manipulated by an ac servo motor controls the position and velocity of the welding torch. First, X-Y table moves to Y-axis to search the welding joint feature before starting the welding, and welding joint is from the scanning data and weighting factor for each other. Second, weld line is determined using proposed signal processing algorithm during welding process. Form the experimental results, we could see the possibility that laser displacement sensor with procesed algorithm can be used as a seam finder in welding process under the severe noise (spatter, arc light etc.) condition

  • This paper presents a new approach to the design of self-tuning adaptive control system that is robust to the changing dynamic configuration as well as to the load variation factors using digital signal processors for robot manipulators. TMS3200C50 is used in implementing real-time adaptive control algorithms provide advanced performance for robot manipulator. In this paper an adaptive control scheme is proposed in order to design the pole-placement self-tuning controller which can reject the offset due to any load disturbance without a detailed description of robot dynamics. parameters of discrete-time difference model are estimated by the recursive least-square identification algorithm and controller parameters are detemined by the pole-placement method. Performance of self-tuning adaptive controller is illusrated by the simulation and experiment for a SCARA robot.

  • In the teleoperation system, force and velocity signals are communicated between a master and a slave robot. The addition of force feedback to a teleoperation system benefits the operator by providing more information to perform given tasks especially for tasks requiring contact with environment. When the master and slave arms are located in different places, time delay is unavoidable and it is well known that the system can become unstable when even a small time delay exists in the communication channel. The control scheme proposed in this paper is based on the estimator with virtual master model. Delayed signal from the master robot can be replaced by the estimated signal with the virtual master model. This control scheme makes the teleoperation system stable for the given time delay while the conventional scheme is not. This new control scheme is verified through numerical simulations and an experiments using the dual axis testbed of the teleoperation system.

  • The position control accuracy of a robot manipulator is significantly deteriorated when a long arm robot is operated at a high speed. This paper presents a very simple sliding mode control which eliminates multiple mode residual vibration in a robot manipulator. The neural network is used to avoid that sliding mode condition is deviated due to the change of system parameter and disturbance. This paper is suggested control system which designed by sliding mode controller using neural network. The effectiveness of proposed scheme is demonstrated through computer simulation.

  • In this paper, we introduce a novel signal quality enhancement algorithm with a perceptual interference analysis and perceptual convolutional noise suppression. A perceptual convolutional noise is reflected in the audible disturbance that can still be recognized after the additional noise suppression and tonality change which is caused by the noise energy excitation. The enhancement system is organized with a perceptual additional noise suppression part and a perceptual convolutional noise suppression part. Experimental results show that these two parts have an equivalent quality enhancement performance.

  • The instantaneous frequency gives a frequency value at a time instance. Thus, it is natural to use the instantaneous frequency for detecting disturbances of voltage signal in power line. Various instantaneous frequency estimators are introduced. By applying to different types of disturbed signals, we show the estimators' ability to classify flickers. Also, the computational costs are compared between different instantaneous frequency estimators. The Prony's method (PRONY) and the modified covariance method (MCOV) need relatively smaller amount of calculation than the Teaser-Kaiser energy operator based estimator (DESA II). For an AM-FM modulated signal, the tracking performance of different instantaneous frequency estimators is also compared. Through simulation, it is shown that MCOV produces less variant frequency estimation values than DESA II and PRONY method.

  • Nowadays, electro hydrostatic actuator (EHA) has shown great advantages over the conventional hydraulic actuators with valve control system. This paper presents a position control for an EHA using a modified back stepping controller. The controller is designed by combining a backstepping technique and adaptation laws via special Lyapunov functions. The control signal consists of an adaptive control signal to compensate for the nonlinearities and a simple robust structure to deal with a bounded disturbance. Experiments are carried out to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed controller.
