The flourite in Hwacheon, Hwanggangri and Keumsan district are major fluorite producing areas in Korea. The fluorite deposits of Hwacheon district are wholly fissure filling hydrothermal veins embedded in Precambrian gneiss and schists and Jurassic granites. Also some fluorite deposits are emplaced in felsite whose age is unknown. Emplacement of most fluorite veins of the district are controlled by EW fracture system. Fluorites are generally accompanied to chalcedonic quartz and also kaolinite, montmorillonite, dickite and calcite in parts. Vertical and lateral mineral zonings are not distinct. The fluorite deposits in the Hwanggangri district are wholly embedded in limestone and other calcareous sediments of Paleozoic Yeongweol Group. Most of the fluorite deposits belong to one of two categories which are steeply. dipping veins and gently dipping replacement deposits adjacent to Late Cretaceous(83-90mys) granite bodies. The strikes of fluorite veins of Hwanggangri district mostly occupy the fractures of $N30^{\circ}-40^{\circ}E$ and $N30^{\circ}-40^{\circ}W$ system. Fluorites are accompanied to calcite, milky quartz, chalcedonic quartz, and also montmorillonite, kaolinite in parts. But in some deposits, scheelite, various sulfide minerals and barite are accompanied. Emplacement of fluorite deposits are largely controlled by lithology and structures of this district. In some deposits fluorite veins gradate to scheelite veins and also telescoping of the mineral zones are found in this district. In the Keumsan district, fissure-filled fluorite veins and replacement deposits are mostly emplaced in limestone of Paleozoic Yeongweol Group, late Cretaceous quartz-porphyry, granite and sandstone. Some deposits are emplaced in Precambrian metasediments. Mineralogy and other characteristics of the deposits in this district is similar to those of Hwanggangri district. Fluid inclusion studies reveal the difference of salinities, $CO_2$ contents of ore fluid and temperatures during fluorite mineral deposition in the these districts. In Hwacheon district, ore-fluids were comparatively dilute brine and low $CO_2$ content. Filling temperatures ranges $104^{\circ}C$ to $170^{\circ}C$. In the Chuncheonshinpo mine, most deeply exploited one in this district, salinitles range 0.5-2. 2wt. % NaCl and filling temperatures range from $116^{\circ}C$ to $143^{\circ}C$. In the Hwanggangri district, ore fluids were complex and filling temperature ranges very widly. In the contact metasomatic fluorite deposits, ore fluid were NaCl rich brines with moderate $CO_2$ content and filling temperatures range from $285^{\circ}C$ to above $360^{\circ}C$. Fluids inclusions in tungsten and sulfide minerals bearing fluorite veins show high $CO_2$ content up to 31wt. %. Filling temperature ranges from $101^{\circ}C$ to $310^{\circ}C$. Fluids inclusions In mainly fluorite bearing veins were more dilute brine and low $CO_2$ contents. Filling temperatures range from $95^{\circ}C$ to $312^{\circ}C$. Filling temperature of fluid inclusions of Keumsan district are between $95^{\circ}C$ and $237^{\circ}C$. Data gathered from geologic, mineralogic and fluid inclusion studies reveal that fluorite mineralization in H wacheon district proceeded at low temperature with dilute brine and low $CO_2$ content. In Hwangganri district, fluorite mineralization proceeded by several pulse of chemically distinct ore fluids and formed the mineralogically different type of deposits around cooling granite pluton which emplaced comparatively shallow depth.
Purpose: This study is to analyze the characteristics of energy usage in apartment houses that had built for 20 years recently in capital area and the correlation between the characteristics of energy usage and the regulation of energy efficiency in building. Method: It is investigated 264 apartment sites having been built since 1991 where 312,071 houses live. The sites were listed on Naver map. Quantities of energy usages in the sites were searched in a portal, Green Together being operated by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport. The appraisal report of building energy in the portal is recording usage quantity of gas energy, district cooling & heating energy, electric energy, total energy, 1st gas energy, 1st district cooling & heating energy, 1st electric energy, 1st total energy, etc. Result: Analyzing the average of total energy usage from 1991 to 2012, the average in 2001, 2008 each was reduced more than 10 percent compared to the previous year. It was analyzed that the reduction was relevant to building energy-saving design criterion which have been tightened more than before.

The objectives of this paper are to study the characteristics of heat transfer and pressure drop of the plate heat exchanger with corrugation height by numerical analysis. Plate heat exchanger of three types was designed, which was corrugation height 3.1mm, 2.8mm and 2.5mm. The plate heat exchanger was numerically investigated for Reynolds number in a range of 950~3,380. The temperatures of the hot side were performed at $14.5^{\circ}C$ while that of the cold side was conducted at $4.5^{\circ}C$. The results show that the performance of heat transfer coefficient for corrugation height 2.5mm increases about 9.5~17.1% compared to that of corrugation height 3.1mm. On the other hand, the performance of pressure drop for corrugation height 2.5mm is remarkably higher than that of corrugation height 3.1mm, about 65.7~86.0%.

The desiccant rotor is the most essential component of desiccant cooling system, but its design relies on manufacturer's experience and principles are not yet clear in spite of a lot of theoretical/experimental work published. The mathematical modeling of desiccant rotor needs solution of coupled partial differential equations of heat and mass transfer. In this study, numerical program is developed and validated using a real desiccant rotor. The calculation results are in reasonable agreement with the experimental data and other available numerical results. Optimization of desiccant rotor on the condition of low regeneration temperature are investigated. The optimal rotor speed at which the process outlet humidity becomes minimized, shows same as that of the system optimization. Compared to high regeneration temperature, broad is the range of optimal speed of low regeneration temperature. Systematic analysis on the optimal area ratio of regeneration to dehumidification section has also been conducted.

In this study, the present regulation of heat metering for the ground source heat pump was investigated. The ground source heat pump has been adopting the heat metering system used in the district heating system for estimating the heating and cooling energy production amount. The accuracy of the present heat metering systems for a water to water ground source heat pump is low, because the system for district heating has a relatively high temperature range comparing with the ground source heat pump operating conditions. Even though the heat amount for the building side should be measured, the heat absorption and extraction amount from or to the ground was measured for the water to air ground source heat pump due to the difficulty of estimating the air side heating and cooling capacity in the present regulation. It is highly recommended to validate the heat metering system to have reliability for the ground source heat pump and develop the system to be applicable water to air ground source heat pump.
The unutilized energy in urban area is commercially and environmentally worth recycling since it can be used as a good energy resource for the heating and cooling supply. Therefore, once heating and cooling demands are near the available unutilized energy resources, a high performance district heating and cooling can be realized by the network of unutilized energy technology. In relation to this circumstance, a road map of the unutilized energy technology is presented in this study.

We have researched 10,811 schools to evaluate the characteristics of school buildings and the conditions of heating and cooling systems at the elementary, middle and high school levels. Air conditioning systems in school buildings are related to school scale, and 35% of the researched schools have less than 10 air conditioned classrooms among all of the schools in Korea. The LOADSYS is used to grasp the characteristics of school buildings heating and cooling load. From the results of this work, the heating load differs by nearly 24% between Seoul and Busan, but other than that there are not so many serious regional differences. Almost 85.4% of the classrooms are equipped with heating facilities and 6.9% of them are equipped with heating and cooling facilities. As a result, it is necessary to make improvements in 31.8% of the classrooms using only heaters and 14.6% of the classrooms not equipped with HVAC. The survey shows that there is a wide gap in the heating equipment status of the classrooms according to the region and school district.

Hybrid desiccant cooling system(HDCS) consists of desiccant rotor, regenerative evaporative cooler, heat pump and district heating hot water coil. In this study, TRNSYS and EES, dynamic and steady simulation programs were used for studying hybrid desiccant cooling system which is applied to an apartment house from June to August. The results show that power consumption of the hybrid desiccant cooling system is 70 kWh in June, 199 kWh in July and 241 kWh in August. Sensible and latent heats removed by the hybrid desiccant cooling system are 300 kWh, 301 kWh in June, 610 kWh, 858 kWh in July and 719 kWh, 1010 kWh in August. COP of the hybrid desiccant cooling system is 8.6 in June, 7.4 in July and 7.2 in August. COP of the hybrid desiccant cooling system decreases when latent heat load increases. Operation time of the system is 70 hours in June, 190 hours in July and 229 hours in August. Since the cooling load is largest in August, the operation time of August is longest for maintaining the indoor temperature at $26^{\circ}C$. Due to the characteristics of hybrid desiccant cooling system for efficiently handling both sensible and latent loads, this system can handle sensible and latent heat loads efficiently in summer.
This study quantified the effects of urban greenspace on microclimate amelioration and atmospheric $CO_2$ reduction for several residential districts selected in Korea and Japan. The study also explored fire obstruction by urban trees to develop systematic planting guidelines. Transpiration by a Zelkova serrata tree (diameter at breast height: 15 cm) in a day of August equaled cooling effect of about 3 air conditioners running for 12 hours. Average air temperature for the growing season was 0.5$^{\circ}C$ and 1.2$^{\circ}C$ cooler, respectively, in districts with 12% and 22% cover of woody plants than in a district with no vegetation. Annual $CO_2$ uptake and $O_2$ production by woody plants were 3 times greater in a district which was 2 times higher in their cover. Woody plants played, in a district with their 22% cover, an important role through offsetting total $CO_2$ emission from the district by about 3% annually, and through producing 10% of annual $O_2$ requirement by all residents within the district. Appropriate planning strategies of residential greenspace, including species selection, planting layout, greenspace enlargement, and maintenance were suggested to improve microclimate amelioration, air purification, and fire obstruction.
