Purpose : The purpose of this study was to identify whether virtual reality-based exercise could improve on balance, gait and fall efficacy in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods : Ten patients with Parkinson's disease were randomly divided into either an experimental or control group. The experimental subjects performed vertual reality-based exercise, whereas the control subjects performed conventional physical therapy for 4 weeks. The balance, gait and fall efficacy of all subjects were assessed by using the Measurement Training and Documentation (MTD) balance system, force platform system, Korean version of Berg Balance scale (K-BBS), 6 Minute Walk Test (6MWT), and Korean version of Fall efficacy scale (K-FES) at pre training and post training. Wilcoxon signed rank test was used to analyze change before and after intervention in intra-group. Mann Whitney U test was used to analyze changes of all variables in inter-groups. Results : Subjects in the experimental group showed significant improvements in difference of weight distribution, K-BBS scores, antero-posterior and medio-lateral sway length, ground reaction force (GRF), 6MWT, and step length following training. The changes of difference of weight distribution, K-BBS scores, AP Sway Length, GRF, 6MWT, step length and K-FES scores in the experimental group were significantly more than them of the control group. Conclusion : The result of this study suggest that virtual reality-based exercise training is an intervention to improve on balance, gait, and falls efficacy in patients with Parkinson's disease.
Purpose: The aim of this study was to investigate distribution of the admitted patients with disease of oral cavity, salivary glands and jaws, current clinical treatment condition and clinical dental practice. Methods: The subject were 4,564 patients with disease of oral cavity, salivary glands and jaws of the Korean National Hospital Discharge Injury Survey 2004-2008 data. This study was carried out using the administrative database including patients' characteristics and comorbidity. Results: Among the total discharge injury patients in 2004-2008, the trend showed decrease of ratio of patients with disease of oral cavity, salivary glands and jaws. The portion of male was higher than female, and 20~29 age group was the highest portion compared with other age groups. Seoul-Gyunggi region was the highest among the other residences. patients with Dentofacial anomalies[including malocclusion] as primary diagnosis, digestive system as comorbidity and operations on facial bones and joins showed the highest portion respectively. Seoul-Gyunggi region was the highest portion compared with other residences. 500~999 bed size showed the highest portion. Conclusion: In this study showed that distribution of patients with disease of oral cavity, salivary glands and jaws, current dental clinical treatment condition using the Korean National Hospital data.
We surveyed the antibody titers in the slaughtered pigs by enzyme immunodiffusion method for the epidemiological distribution of Aujeszky's disease in Korea. And also we observed the clinical symptoms, histopathological findings and antibody titers by serologic neutralization test in experimental animals infected with Aujeszky's disease virus(ADV) isolated from Korea. The results of the experiments were summarized as follows. 1. We detected 2 pigs infected with ADV of 1000 in 1990 and 1 of 600 in 1991 by enzyme immunodiffusion method. 2. In histopathological findings of experimental animals inoculated ADV, the typical characteristics of Aujeszky's disease were not observed in pig, but edema and degeneration in the epidermis were observed in rats, vasculoendotheriosis, perivascular cuffing and cellular infiltration in the cerebrum were appeared in rabbits and perivascular cuffing and forcal infiltration of glial cells in the cerebrum were appeared in mice. 3. The increasing antibody titers(1 : 64) in the serological neutralization test were ascertained in 2 carrier pigs inoculated ADV. 4. Rabbits, mice and rats died all about 5 days after inoculation, but pigs and chickens didn't die. 5. In 1 cat and 2 rabbits inoculated with the Aujeszky's disease virus(ADV), the typical clinical findings of Aujeszky's disease were observed in rabbit, but not in cat and so we slaughtered without any signs of Aujeszky's disease.

Olive flounder (Paralichthys olivaceus) is the major species developed for aquaculture in South Korea. Over the long history of olive flounder aquaculture, complex and diverse diseases have been a major problem, negatively impacting industrial production. Vibriosis is a prolific disease which continuously damages olive flounder aquaculture. A bacterial disease survey was performed from January to June 2017 on 20 olive flounder farms on Jeju Island. A total of 1710 fish were sampled, and bacteria from the external and internal organs of 560 fish were collected. Bacterial strains were identified using 16 s rRNA sequencing. Twenty-seven species and 184 strains of Vibrio were isolated during this survey, and phylogenetic analysis was performed. Bacterial isolates were investigated for the distribution of pathogenic and non-pathogenic species, as well as bacterial presence in tested organs was characterized. V. gigantis and V. scophthalmi were the dominant non-pathogenic and pathogenic strains isolated during this survey, respectively. This study provides data on specific Vibrio spp. isolated from cultured olive flounder in an effort to provide direction for future research and inform aquaculture management practices.
Objective: The purpose of this study is to investigate the past history of the patients with peripheral type nerve palalysis. Methods: We examined the age, sex, region, month, season, past disease and cause of 692(343 male, 349 female) patients with peripheral type nerve palalysis who visited Dept. of Acupuncture and Moxibustion, Bundang Oriental Medicine Hospital, Dongguk University, from 2001-10-1 to 2004-9-30. Results: 420 patiens(60.7$\%$) were in the age between 30-59. The region, sex, and seasonal distribution didn't have a remarkable contrasts. In the past disease, Hypertension(14.5$\%$), Diabets mellitus(9.2$\%$), Gastric diseases(3.9$\%$) and Live diseases(3.8$\%$) were investigated highly than other diseases. In the distribution of cause, fatigue(36.3$\%$), unknown(34.8$\%$), stress(19.2$\%$) cold exposure(12.1$\%$) were investigated highly than other causes.

Complex diseases such as stroke and cancer have two or more genetic loci and are affected by environmental factors that contribute to the diseases. Due to the complex characteristics of these diseases, identifying candidate genes requires a system-level analysis of the following: gene ontology, pathway, and interactions. A database and user interface, termed StrokeBase, was developed; StrokeBase provides queries that search for pathways, candidate genes, candidate SNPs, and gene networks. The database was developed by using in silico data mining of HGNC, ENSEMBL, STRING, RefSeq, UCSC, GO, HPRD, KEGG, GAD, and OMIM. Forty candidate genes that are associated with cerebrovascular disease were selected by human experts and public databases. The networked cerebrovascular disease gene maps also were developed; these maps describe genegene interactions and biological pathways. We identified 1127 genes, related indirectly to cerebrovascular disease but directly to the etiology of cerebrovascular disease. We found that a protein-protein interaction (PPI) network that was associated with cerebrovascular disease follows the power-law degree distribution that is evident in other biological networks. Not only was in silico data mining utilized, but also 250K Affymetrix SNP chips were utilized in the 320 control/disease association study to generate associated markers that were pertinent to the cerebrovascular disease as a genome-wide search. The associated genes and the genes that were retrieved from the in silico data mining system were compared and analyzed. We developed a well-curated cerebrovascular disease-associated gene network and provided bioinformatic resources to cerebrovascular disease researchers. This cerebrovascular disease network can be used as a frame of systematic genomic research, applicable to other complex diseases. Therefore, the ongoing database efficiently supports medical and genetic research in order to overcome cerebrovascular disease.
Incidence of blast caused by Pyricularia grisea on five new cultivars and four elite lines (C/L) of rice was investigated at different locations, Icheon, Chuncheon, Jecheon and Naju, 1992 to 1994. Disease indices of leaf blast on the tested C/L except Juanbyeo and Keumnambyeo ranged from 0 to 6 in the blast nursery. Under the field conditions, percentages of diseased leaf area of Kuemnambyeo were 6.5% in Jecheon and 2.8% in Icheon in 1993. The incidence of panicle blast on the C/L except Suweon 394 and Milyang 117 differed depending on the locations and years. In case of Unjangbyeo, panicle blast was rarely observed n the fields in Icheon and Naju, but the disease incidences were 21.8% in Jecheon in 1993 and 16.4% in Chuncheon in 1994. Race distribution of the blast fungus was variable according to the locations. The major race in the Jecheon site was KI-197, which was recently identified.
Imaging distribution of ${\beta}-amyloid$ plaques in Alzheimer's disease is very important for early and accurate diagnosis. Early trial of the ${\beta}-amyloid$ plaques includes using radiolabeled peptides which can be only applied for peripheral ${\beta}-amyloid$ plaques due to limited penetration through the blood brain barrier (BBB). Congo red or Chrysamine G derivatives were labeled with Tc-99m for imaging ${\beta}-amyloid$ plaques of Alzheimer patient's brain without success due to problem with BBB penetration. Thioflavin T derivatives gave breakthrough for ${\beta}-amyloid$ imaging in vivo, and a benzothiazole derivative [C-11]6-OH-BTA-1 brought a great success. Many other benzothiazole, benzoxazole, benzofuran, imidazopyridine, and styrylbenzene derivatives have been labeled with F-18 and I-123 to improve the imaging quality. However, [C-11]6-OH-BTA-1 still remains as the best. However, short half-life of C-11 is a limitation of wide distribution of this agent. So, it is still required to develop an Tc-99m, F-18 or I-123 labeled agent for ${\beta}-amyloid$ imaging agent.
