The cost incurred by voltage sag effect in power networks has always been of important concern for discussions. Due to the environmental constraints, fossil fuel shortage crisis and low efficiency of conventional power plants, decentralized generation and renewable based DG have become trends in recent decades; because DGs can reduce the voltage sag effect in distribution networks noticeably; therefore, optimum allocation of DGs in order to maximize their effectiveness is highly important in order to maximize their effectiveness. In this paper, a new method is proposed for calculating the cost incurred by voltage sag effect in power networks. Thus, a new objective function is provided that comprehends technical standards as minimization of the cost incurred by voltage sag effect, active power losses and economic criterion as the installation and maintenance costs of DGs. Considering operational constraints of the system, the optimum allocation of DGs is a constrained optimization problem in which Lightning Attachment procedure optimization (LAPO) is used to resolve it and is the optimum number, size and location of DGs are determined in IEEE 33 bus test system and IEEE 34 bus test system. The results show that optimum allocation of DGs not only reduces the cost incurred by voltage sag effect, but also improves the other characteristics of the system.

In this study, tomato maturity was estimated based on deep learning for a harvesting robot. Tomato images were obtained using a RGB camera installed on a monitoring robot, which was developed previously, and the samples were cropped to 128 × 128 size images to generate a dataset for training the classification model. The classification model was constructed based on convolutional neural networks, and the mean-variance loss was used to learn implicitly the distribution of the data features by class. In the test stage, the tomato maturity was estimated as a continuous index, which has a range of 0 to 1, by calculating the expected class value. The results show that the F1-score of the classification was approximately 0.94, and the performance was similar to that of a deep learning-based classification task in the agriculture field. In addition, it was possible to estimate the distribution in each maturity stage. From the results, it was found that our approach can not only classify the discrete maturation stages of the tomatoes but also can estimate the continuous maturity.

Recent malware distribution causes severe and nation-wide problems such as 3 20 cyber attack in Korea. In particular, Drive-by download attack, which is one of attack types to distribute malware through the web, becomes the most prevalent and serious threat. To prevent Drive-by download attacks, it is necessary to analyze MDN(Malware Distribution Networks) of Drive-by download attacks. Effective analysis of MDN requires a detection of obfuscated and/or encapsulated JavaScript in a web page. In this paper, we propose the scheme called Multi-level emulation to analyze the process of malware distribution. The proposed scheme analyzes web links used for malware distribution to support the efficient analysis of MDN.

Traditionally, electric power systems have been known as the centralized structures, which is organized into placing customers at the end of the supply chain. However, recent decades have witnessed the emergence of distributed energy resources(:DERs) such as rooftop solar, farming PV system, small wind turbines, battery energy storage systems and smart home appliances. With the emergence of distributed energy resources, the role of distributed system operators(:DSOs) will expand. The increasing penetration of DERs could lead to a less predictable and reverse flow of power in the system, which can affect the traditional planning and operation of distribution and transmission networks. This raises the need for a change in the role of the DSOs that have conventionally planned, maintained and managed networks and supply outages. The objective of this research is to designed the future distribution operation system with multi-DERs and the proposed distribution system model is implemented by hardware-in-the-loop simulation(HILS). The test results show the normal operation domain and reduction of distribution line loss.

Many telecommunication operators around the world have multiple networks. The networks run by each operator are always of different generations, such as 2G and 3G or even 4G systems. Each system has unique characters and specified requirements for optimal operation. It brings about resource allocation problem among these networks for the operator, because the budget of each operator is limited. However, the evaluation of resource allocation among various networks under each operator is missing for long, not to mention resource allocation optimization. The operators are dying for an algorithm to end their blind resource allocation, and the Resource Allocation Optimization Algorithm for Multi-network Operator (RAOAMO) proposed in this paper is what the operators want. RAOAMO evaluates and optimizes resource allocation in the view of overall cost for each operator. It outputs a resource distribution target and corresponding optimization suggestion. Evaluation results show that RAOAMO helps operator save overall cost in various cases.
Improving resource utilization has been a hot issue in heterogeneous wireless networks (HWNs). This paper proposes a radio resource management (RRM) method based on access proportion optimization. By considering two or more wireless networks in overlapping regions, users in these regions must select one of the networks to access when they engage in calls. Hence, the proportion of service arrival rate that accesses each network in the overlapping region can be treated as an optimized factor for the performance analysis of HWNs. Moreover, this study considers user mobility as an important factor that affects the performance of HWNs, and it is reflected by the handoff rate. The objective of this study is to maximize the total throughput of HWNs by choosing the most appropriate factors. The total throughput of HWNs can be derived on the basis of a Markov model, which is determined by the handoff rate analysis and distribution of service arrival rate in each network. The objective problem can actually be expressed as an optimization problem. Considering the convexity of the objective function, the optimization problem can be solved using the subgradient approach. Finally, an RRM optimization scheme for HWNs is proposed. The simulation results show that the proposed scheme can effectively enhance the throughput of HWNs, i.e., improve the radio resource utilization.

As the interest of flexible manufacturing systems and computer integrated manufacturing systems increase, the distribution of centralized control systems using industrial control networks is getting more attention. In this paper, we investigate the rate-based traffic control of industrial control networks to improve the performance regarding the throughput, fairness, and error rates. Especially, we consider the protocol of Lon-$Works^{(TM)}$ which consists of all OSI 7-layers and supports various communication media at a low cost. Basically, the proposed rate-based traffic control system is closed loop by utilizing the feedback channel errors, which shows improved performance when compared with other industrial control networks commonly operated in open loop. To this end, an additional network node called monitoring node is introduced to check the channel status without increasing the channel load. The Proposed control loop is in effect whenever the feedback channel error becomes greater than an admittable value. We demonstrate the improved performance of the controlled network system in view of throughput and fairness measures by implementing the lab-scale network system based on LonWorks and through the experimentation upon it.

Recently, there have been fast-growing social network services based on the Internet environment and web technology development, the prevalence of smartphones, etc. Social networks also allow the users to convey the information and news so that they have a great influence on the public opinion formed by social interaction among users as well as the spread of information. On the other hand, these social networks also serve as perfect environments for rampant malware. Malware is rapidly being spread because relationships are formed on trust among the users. In this paper, an effective patch strategy is proposed to deal with malicious worms based on social networks. A graph is formed to analyze the structure of a social network, and subgroups are formed in the graph for the distributed patch strategy. The weighted directions and activities between the nodes are taken into account to select reliable key nodes from the generated subgroups, and the Incremental PageRanking algorithm reflecting dynamic social network features (addition/deletion of users and links) is used for deriving the high influential key nodes. With the patch based on the derived key nodes, the proposed method can prevent worms from spreading over social networks.
Studies and applications related to unidirectional flow are gaining attention from researchers across disciplines in the recent years. Flow can be viewed as a concept, where the material, fluid, people, air, and electricity are moving from one node to another over a transportation network, water network, or through electricity distribution systems. Unlike other networks such as computer networks, most of the flow networks are visible and have strong material existence and are responsible for the flow of materials with definite shape and volume. The flow of electricity is also unidirectional, and also share similar features as of flow of materials such as liquids and air. Generally, in a flow network, every node in the network participates and contributes to the efficiency of the network. In this survey paper, we would like to evaluate and analyze the depth and application of the acyclic nature of unidirectional flow in several domains such as industry, biology, medicine, and electricity. This survey also provides, how the unidirectional flow and flow networks play an important role in multiple disciplines. The study includes all the major developments in the past years describing the key attributes of unidirectional flow networks, including their applications, scope, and routing methods.

Wind farm interconnected with grid can supply the power into a power network not only the normal conditions, but also the fault conditions of distribution network. If the fault happened in the distribution power line with wind fm, the fault current level measured in a relaying point might be lower than that of distribution network without wind turbine generator due to the contribution of wind farm. Consequently, it may be difficult to detect the fault happened in the distribution network connected with wind generator This paper describes the effect of the interconnected wind turbine generators on protective relaying of distribution power lines and detection of the fault occurred in a power line network. Simulation results shows that the current level of fault happened in the power line with wind farm depends on the fault impedance, the fault location. the output of wind farm. and the load condition of distribution network.
