Water circulation plays a crucial role in regulating the salinity of estuaries, which is essential for the survival of estuarine organisms. Changes in freshwater inflows or sea level can have significant impacts on the distribution and abundance of species within these ecosystems. To better understand these dynamics, this paper presents a study of water circulation and salinity distribution in Seomjin River estuary using the Finite Volume Coastal Ocean Model (FVCOM) numerical model. An extreme scenario was simulated to assess the potential impact of tidal currents and river flow discharge on circulation and salinity distribution. The results of this study have important implications for managing estuarine ecosystems and conserving their associated biodiversity.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to explore and compare research trends in Korea and overseas academic papers on social media marketing, and to present new academic perspectives for the future direction in Korea. Research design, data and methodology: We used English abstract of research paper (Korea's: 1,349, overseas': 5,036) for word frequency analysis, topic modeling, and trend analysis for each topic. Results: The results of word frequency and co-occurrence frequency analysis showed that Korea researches focused on the experiential values of users, and overseas researches focused on platforms and content. Next, 13 topics and 12 topics for Korea and overseas researches were derived from topic modeling. And, trend analysis showed that Korean studies were different from overseas in applying marketing methods to specific industries and they were interested in the short-term performance of social media marketing. Conclusions: We found that the long-term strategies of social media marketing and academic interest in the overall industry will necessary in the future researches. Also, data mining techniques will necessary to generate more general results by quantifying various phenomena in reality. Finally, we expected that continuous and various academic approaches for volatile social media is effective to derive practical implications.
This paper proposes a convenient thermal modeling method for loss distribution control method of 3-level Active NPC(Neutral Point Clamped) inverter. In the drawback of conventional 3-level NPC, the generated losses can occur unbalance in each switching device, as a result, thermal utilization of designed system has been decreased. In order to compensate unbalanced losses, Active NPC inverter performed loss balancing control with thermal modeling during operation of each switching device. Therefore, this paper deals with a convenient thermal modeling method based on newton's law of cooling rather than conventional thermal modeling method. Both simulation and experimental results based on 10kW 3-level Active NPC inverter confirm the validity of the analysis performed in the study.
It is known that the LDC(Line-Drop Compensator) becomes to lose the function of proper voltage regulation for its load currents due to the real and reactive power generated by DGS(Dispersed Generation System), when DGS is introduced into the power distribution system of which the voltage is controlled by LDC. Therefore, in that case, it is very difficult to regulate the distribution line voltage properly by using LDC. One possible solution for this problem is the real-time voltage regulation method which is to optimally regulate the sending-end voltage in real-time by collecting the real-time load data of each load data of each load section between measuring points and by calculating the optimal seding-end voltage value from them. For this, we must know the real-time load data of each load section. In this paper, a modeling method of representing a load section on high voltage line with DGSs as an equivalent lumped load is proposed for gaining the real-time load data. In addition a method of locating the measuring points is proposed. Then, these proposed methods are evaluated through computer simulations.
Purpose: With the unique feature of O2O, consumers are now able to check the profile of the services and products online and then consume them in offline venues or vice versa. This study provides motivation and practical implications about online-to-offline (O2O) distribution channels and investigates the relationship between economic values, service consistency and brand identity attractiveness in the O2O distribution channel. Then identify the impact of brand identity attractiveness on the performance (reputation and reuse intention). Research design, data, and methodology: Structural equation modeling (SEM) has been used to investigate the relationship between economic value and brand identity attractiveness, which affects the reputation and reuse intention of services in O2O. Results: Empirical results show the positive and significant impact of economic value and service consistency on brand identity attractiveness which results the positive and significant impact on performance (reputation and reuse intention) in O2O. Conclusion: In the O2O distribution channel, economic value is an important aspect for the attractive image and brand identity. On the other side, brand identity attractiveness is important for the bright future of O2O services, continuous growth, achieving the distinct goal, keeping good promises with customers, and a better reputation of O2O services in distribution channels.
In this paper, we provide a mathematical formulation to describe the random mobility of users in cellular radio systems. With this, we can also study tile cell sojourn time (CST) distribution as well as the channel holding time (CHT) distribution. The study on user mobility enables to improve the resource management in cellular radio systems. We provide a versatile analysis tool that improves the limit of simplified analyses.
In order to design an evaporation system, geometric simulation of film thickness distribution profile is required. In this paper, a geometric modeling algorithm is introduced for process simulation of the evaporating process. The physical fact of the evaporating process is modeled mathematically. Based on the developed method, the thickness of the thin-film layer can be successfully controlled.
Planning support systems(PSS) add more advanced spatial analysis functions than Geographic information systems(GIS) and intertemporal functions to the functions of spatial decision support systems(SDSS). This paper reports the continuing development of a PSS providing a framework that facilitates urban planners and civil engineers in conducting coherent deliberations about planning, design and operation & maintenance(O&M) of water-distribution networks for urban growth management. The PSS using dynamic optimization model, modeling-to-generate-alternatives, value engineering(VE) and life-cycle cost(LCC) can generate network alternatives in consideration of initial cost and O&H cost. Users can define alternatives by the direct manipulation of networks or by the manipulation of parameters in the models. The water-distribution network analysis model evaluates the performance of the user-defined alternatives. The PSS can be extended to include the functions of generating sewer network alternatives, combining water-distribution and sewer networks, eventually the function of planning, design and O&H of housing sites. Capacity expansion by the dynamic water-distribution network optimization model using MINLP includes three advantages over capacity expansion using optimal control theory(Kim and Hopkins 1996): 1) finds expansion alternatives including future capacity expansion times, sizes, locations, and pipe types of a water-distribution network provided, 2) has the capabilities to do the capacity expansion of each link spatially and intertemporally, and 3) requires less interaction between models. The modeling using MINLP is limited in addressing the relationship between cost, price, and demand, which the optimal control approach can consider. Strictly speaking, the construction and O&M costs of water-distribution networks influence the price charged for the served water, which in turn influence the. This limitation can be justified in rather small area because price per unit water in the area must be same as that of neighboring area, i.e., the price is determined administratively. Planners and engineers can put emphasis on capacity expansion without consideration of the relationship between cost, price, and demand.
The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of vertical ground motion (VGM) on seismic behavior of reinforced concrete (RC) regular frame with construction joints, and determine more proper modeling method for cast-in-situ RC frame. The four-story RC frames in the regions of 7, 8 and 9 earthquake intensity were analyzed with nonlinear dynamic time-history method. Two different methods of ground motion input, horizontal ground motion (HGM) input only, VGM and HGM input simultaneously were performed. Seismic responses in terms of the maximum vertex displacement, the maximum inter-story drift distribution and the plastic hinge distribution were analyzed. The results show that VGM might increase or decrease the horizontal maximum vertex displacement depending on the value of axial load ratio of column. And it will increase the maximum inter-story drift and change its distribution. Finally, proper modeling method is proposed according to the distribution of plastic hinges, which is in well agreement with the actual earthquake damage.
This paper describes the engineering process for analyzing the simulation result and deciding the site in which Distribution STATCON operates more effectively. For this purpose the modeling method of industrial loads, equipments and STATCON was represented. Models of motor, furnace and so on are presented for the modeling of industrial loads. The distribution system models include the parameters of the distribution line and transformer. The models of PESS(Power Electronics Subsystem), controllers and maginetics are consist of STATCON model.
