Optimal water management is to efficiently and equally supply an appropriate amount of water by using irrigation facilities. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate water supply capacity through distribution simulation between the designed distribution rate and re-distributed rate according to the changed farming conditions. In this study, we recalculated the agricultural water supply amount of Geumcheon main canal, which beneficiary area was reduced due to the development of Gwangju-Jeonnam innovation city, and we constructed a canal network using the SWMM model to simulate the change in supply rate of each main canal according to the re-distributed rate. Even though the supply amount of the Geumcheon main canal was reduced from 1.20 m3/s to 0.90 m3/s, it showed a similar supply rate to the current, and the reduced quantity could be supplied to the rest of the main canal. As a result, the arrival time at the ends of all main canal, except for the Geumcheon main canal, decreased from 1 to 3 hours, and the supply rate increased from 4 to 17.0% at the main canal located at the end of the beneficiary area of Naju reservoir.
In this paper, we proposed a distributed gateway for ubiquitous healthcare system. We also designed and implemented protocol conversion and processing algorithms to exchange a seamless information, the bio signals between the databases and the receiving devices from ZigBee to gateway and from the gateway to database and network. The distributed gateway system consists of the bio signal acquisition, ZigBee modules, distributed databases, and gateways. The bio signals detected by the ZigBee module are sent to the gateway. The distributed gateway analyzes the data being transferred, sends those to the receiving devices, and lets the authorized personnel access. The proposed system can be utilized in various fields including activity analysis for the elderly, security systems, home network service, and so on.

This work describes a derivation of functional architecture of Cooperative Engagement (CE) for a Theater Ballistic Missile Defense (TBMD). The TBMD is composed of multi-layered defense systems as system of systems which includes network-based sensors, shooters and battle management. The Cooperative Engagement Capability (CEC) is a typical real-time battle management system, and the key function of the CEC is CE. The CE is a warfighting concept designed to defeat threats through the synergistic integration of distributed resources among two or more units. In this point of view, this paper proposed functional architecture through analyzing the CE concept, and was conducted as a pre-study to develop a CE based combat system of TBMD.

DCS (Distributed Control System), the main control system of power plants, is an automated system for enhancing operational efficiency by monitoring, tuning and real-time operation. DCS is becoming more intelligent and open systems as Information technology are evolving. In addition, there are a large amount of investment to enable proactive facility management, maintenance and risk management through the predictive diagnostics. However, new upcoming weaponized malware, such as Stuxnet designed for disrupting industrial control system(ICS), become new threat to the main control system of the power plant. Even though these systems are not connected with any other outside network. The main control systems used in the power plant usually have been used for more than 10 years. Also, this system requires the extremely high availability (rapid recovery and low failure frequency). Therefore, installing updates including security patches is not easy. Even more, in some cases, installing security updates can break the warranty by the vendor's policy. If DCS is exposed a potential vulnerability, serious concerns are to be expected. In this paper, we conduct the penetration test by using NESSUS, a general-purpose vulnerability scanner under the simulated environment configured with the Ovation version 1.5. From this result, we suggest a log analysis method to detect the security infringement and react the incident effectively.
After the 4th industrial revolution, the healthcare industry is striving to find new business models through new technologies. Among them, blockchain technology is one of the technologies that have great interest in the healthcare industry. Most providers of personal health record systems have difficulty in securing marketability due to various problems. Therefore, they try to integrate blockchain technology to develop new systems and gain marketability. However, blockchain has limitations in solving the problems of the personal health record system. In this study, we have designed a personalized health data management framework that enables information subjects to acquire full ownership rights of individual's health data, based on distributed ledger technology. For the framework design, we refer to the structure of R3 Corda. It was designed with a different network structure than the existing blockchain systems so that the node can be operated on the personal user's mobile device. This allows information subjects to directly store and manage their own data and share data with authorized network members. Through the proposed system, the information utilization of the healthcare industry can be improved and the public health promotion and medical technology development can be realized.

This study is intended for implementing the system environment that can help integrate and retrieve various types of data in real-time by providing semantic interoperability among distributed heterogeneous information systems. The semantic interoperability is made possible by providing a TMDR(Topicmaps Metadata Registry), a set of ontologies. TMDR, which has been made by combining MDR(MetaData Registry) and TopicMaps and storing them in the database, is able to generate distributed query and provide efficient knowledge. MDR is a metadata management technique for distributed data management. TopicMaps is an ontology representation technique that takes into consideration the hierarchy and association for accessing knowledge data. We have created TMDR, a kind of ontology, that is fit for any system and able to detect and resolve semantic conflicts on the level of data and schema. With this system we propose a query-processing technique to integrate and access heterogeneous information sources. Unlike existing retrieval methods this makes possible efficient retrieval and reasoning by providing association focusing on subjects.
Recently, studies on the mobile computing environments that enable mobile hosts to move while retaining its network connection are in progress. In these mobile computing environments, one of the necessary components is the distributed file system supporting mobile hosts, and there are several issues for the design and implementation of the shared file system. Among these issues, there are problems caused by network traffic on limited bandwidth of wireless media. Also, there are consistency maintenance issues that are caused by update-conflicts on the shared files in the distributed file system. In this paper, we propose TWB(Trickle Write-Back) scheme that utilizes weak connectivity for cache management of mobile clients. This scheme focuses on saving bandwidth, reducing waste of disk space, and reducing risks caused by disconnection. For such goals, this scheme lets mobile clients write back intermediate states periodically or on demand while delaying unnecessary write-backs. Meanwhile, this scheme is based on the existing distributed file system architecture and provides transparency.
Plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs) will be widely used in future transportation systems to reduce oil fuel consumption. Therefore, the electrical energy demand will be increased due to the charging of a large number of vehicles. Without intelligent control strategies, the charging process can easily overload the electricity grid at peak hours. In this paper, we consider a smart charging and discharging process for multiple PHEVs in a building's garage to optimize the energy consumption profile of the building. We formulate a centralized optimization problem in which the building controller or planner aims to minimize the square Euclidean distance between the instantaneous energy demand and the average demand of the building by controlling the charging and discharging schedules of PHEVs (or 'users'). The PHEVs' batteries will be charged during low-demand periods and discharged during high-demand periods in order to reduce the peak load of the building. In a decentralized system, we design an energy cost-sharing model and apply a non-cooperative approach to formulate an energy charging and discharging scheduling game, in which the players are the users, their strategies are the battery charging and discharging schedules, and the utility function of each user is defined as the negative total energy payment to the building. Based on the game theory setup, we also propose a distributed algorithm in which each PHEV independently selects its best strategy to maximize the utility function. The PHEVs update the building planner with their energy charging and discharging schedules. We also show that the PHEV owners will have an incentive to participate in the energy charging and discharging game. Simulation results verify that the proposed distributed algorithm will minimize the peak load and the total energy cost simultaneously.
There is a growing trend in developing system for distributed mobile system that supports services - job flow management, video conference, replicated data management and resource allocation. Supporting these services, applications have to use causally ordered message delivery. Previous proposals that provide causally ordered message delivery have problems such as communication overhead, message delaying, scalability, computing overload of mobile host. In this paper, we proposed efficient protocol for causally ordered message delivery using the methods that MSS maintains dependency information matrix between MSS and MH, Piggybacking dependency information about each immediate predecessor message. Proposed algorithm, when compared with previous proposals, provides a low message overhead, and low probability of unnecessary inhibition in delivering messages. Also, it consider resource restriction of MH and low bandwidth of wireless communication by computing most of algorithm at MSS, and reduce processing delay by executing causally ordered message delivery a unit of MH.

The process control methods based on the statistical analysis apply the analysis method or mathematical model under the assumption that the process characteristic is normally distributed. However, the distribution of data collected by the automatic measurement system in real time is often not followed by normal distribution. As the statistical analysis tools, the process capability index (PCI) has been used a lot as a measure of process capability analysis in the production site. However, PCI has been usually used without checking the normality test for the process data. Even though the normality assumption is violated, if the analysis method under the assumption of the normal distribution is performed, this will be an incorrect result and take a wrong action. When the normality assumption is violated, we can transform the non-normal data into the normal data by using an appropriate normal transformation method. There are various methods of the normal transformation. In this paper, we consider the Box-Cox transformation among them. Hence, the purpose of the study is to expand the analysis method for the multivariate process capability index using Box-Cox transformation. This study proposes the multivariate process capability index to be able to use according to both methodologies whether data is normally distributed or not. Through the computational examples, we compare and discuss the multivariate process capability index between before and after Box-Cox transformation when the process data is not normally distributed.
