직물의 평면 드레이프 계수와 측면 드레이프 계수와의 관계 (Relationship between Plane and Side Drape Coefficient of Fabrics)

  • To investigate the relationship between plane and side drape coefficient, the drape tester designed in which coordinate of projected outline of draped specimen could be recorded. By using this drape tester, the three dimensional shape, plane and side drape coefficient were obtained from coordinate of plane projected shape, and furthermore examined the tendency in changes of drape coefficient in terms of diameter of specimen, deflection angle, and bending rigidity. The side drape coefficients were constant regardless of changes in diameter of specimen. The plane drape coefficients, however, made a little difference according to changes in diameter of specimen. The experimental drape coefficient agreed well with the theoretical drape coefficient according to deflection angle. In the meanwhile, when the plane drape coefficients were regressed with the side drape coefficents, regression equation was $y=0.375x-0.002x^2+6.9\times10^{-5}x^3$. When the $\overline{\theta_s}$ is mean of deflection angle of selected points which have the longest and shortest distance from center point in the node, the theoretical drape coefficient calculated from $\overline{\theta_s}$ has high correlation with experimental drape coefficient. The plane and side drape coefficient changed linearly with increasing the bending length, $\sqrt[3]{EI/w}$.

Estimation of Bed Form Friction Coefficients using ADCP Data

  • Bed shear stress is important variable in river flow analysis. The bed shear stress has an effects on bed erosion, sediment transport, and mean flow characteristics. Quadratic formula to estimate bed shear stress is widely used, 𝜏=𝜌cfu|u| in which friction coefficient, cf, needs to be assigned to numerical models. The aim of this study is to estimate Chezy coefficient using bathymetry data measured by ADCP. Bed form geometry variables will be estimated form bed profile, then Chezy coefficient will be determined using estimated bed form geometry variables in order to set friction coefficient to numerical model. From the probability density function obtained from the bathymetry data, Chezy coefficient will be randomly generated since Chezy coefficient is not uniform over the space and it does not depend on spatial variables such as water depth and distance from river bank. Numerical test will be performed to find to demonstrate randomly extracted Chezy coefficient is appropriate. The result of this study is valuable in that the friction coefficient is estimated in consideration of the bed profile, and as a result, uncertainty of the friction coefficient can be reduced.

Analysis of reflection-coefficient by wireless power transmission using superconducting coils

  • The use of electronic devices such as mobile phones and tablet PCs has increased of late. However, the power which is supplied through wires has a limitation of the free use of devices and portability. Magnetic-resonance wireless power transfer (WPT) can achieve increased transfer distance and efficiency compared to the existing electromagnetic inductive coupling. A superconducting coil can be applied to increase the efficiency and distance of magnetic-resonance WPT. As superconducting coils have lower resistance than copper coils, they can increase the quality factor (Q-factor) and can overcome the limitations of magnetic-resonance WPT. In this study, copper coils were made from ordinary copper under the same condition as the superconducting coils for a comparison experiment. Superconducting coils use liquid nitrogen to keep the critical temperature. As there is a difference of medium between liquid nitrogen and air, liquid nitrogen was also used in the normal conductor coil to compare the experiment with under the same condition. It was confirmed that superconducting coils have a lower reflection-coefficient($S_{11}$) than the normal conductor coils.

  • In this study, the friction and wear characteristics of pure epoxy and silica-filled epoxy resin composites with average silica particle diameter of $6-33{\mu}m$ were investigated at ambient temperature by pin-on-disc friction test. The cumulative wear volume, friction coefficient and wear rate of these materials against SiC abrasive paper were determined experimentally. The cumulative wear volume tended to increase nonlinearly with increase of sliding distance and depended on diameter of the silica particle for all these composites. The sliding wear tests of the materials demonstrated that the friction coefficient and the wear rate of silica filled epoxy composites were lower than those of the pure epoxy. silica filled epoxy.

Numerical study of laminar flow and friction characteristics in narrow channels under rolling conditions using MPS method

  • Modern small modular nuclear reactors can be built on a barge in ocean, therefore, their flow characteristics depend upon the ocean motions. In the present research, effect of rolling motion on flow and friction characteristics of laminar flow through vertical and horizontal narrow channels has been studied. A computer code has been developed using MPS method for two-dimensional Navier-Stokes equations with rolling motion force incorporated. Numerical results have been validated with the literature and have been found in good agreement. It has been found that the impact of rolling motions on flow characteristics weakens with increase in flow rate and fluid viscosity. For vertical narrow channels, the time averaged friction coefficient for vertical channels differed from steady friction coefficient. Furthermore, increasing the horizontal distance from rolling pivot enhanced the flow fluctuations but these stayed relatively unaffected by change in vertical distance of channel from the rolling axis. For horizontal narrow channels, the flow fluctuations were found to be sinusoidal in nature and their magnitude was found to be dependent mainly upon gravity fluctuations caused by rolling.

Study on the propagation mechanism of stress wave in underground mining

  • For the influence of the propagation law of stress wave at the coal-rock interface during the pre-blasting of the top coal in top coal mining, the ANSYS-LS/DYNA fluid-solid coupling algorithm was used to numerical calculation and the life-death element method was used to simulate the propagation of explosion cracks. The equation of the crushing zone and the fracturing zone were derived. The results were calculated and showed that the crushing radius is 14.6 cm and the fracturing radius is 35.8 cm. With the increase of the angles between the borehole and the coal-rock interface, the vibration velocity of the coal particles and the rock particles at the interface decreases gradually, and the transmission coefficient of the stress wave from the coal mass into the rock mass decreases gradually. When the angle between the borehole and the coal-rock interface is 0°, the overall crushing degree is about 11% and up to the largest. With the increase of the distance from the charge to the coal-rock interface, the stress wave transmission coefficient and the crushing degree of the coal-rock are gradually decreased. At the distance of 50 cm, the crushing degree of the coal-rock reached the maximum of approximately 12.3%.

Aerodynamic modification of setback distance at half height of the tall building to minimize the wind effect

  • The present study focuses on aerodynamic parameters behaviors and control on the single and double side setback building models at the buildings mid-height. The study is conducted by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulation. This study estimates the face wise pressure coefficient on single side setback buildings with a setback range of 20%-50% and double side setback buildings with setbacks ranging from 10%-25%. The polynomial fitted graphs from CFD data predict the Cp on different setback model faces within permissible limit ±13% error. The efficient model obtained according to the minimum drag, lift, and moment consideration for along and across wind conditions. The study guides the building tributary area doesn't control the drag, lift, and moment on setback type buildings. The setback distance takes a crucial role in that. The 20% double side setback model is highly efficient to regulate the moment for both along and across wind conditions. It reduces 17.5% compared to the 20% single side setback and 14% moment compared to the 10% double side setback models. The double side setback building is more efficient to control 4.2% moment than the single side setback building

볼록한 표면위에 분사되는 원형경사충돌제트의 국소열전달계수 측정에 관한 연구 (Measurement of the local heat transfer coefficient on a convex hemispherical surface with round oblique impinging jet)

  • Measurements of the local heat transfer coefficients were made on a hemispherically convex surface with a round oblique impinging jet. The liquid crystal transient method was used for these measurements. This method, which is a variation on the transient method, suddenly exposes a preheated wall to an impinging jet while video recording the response of liquid crystal for the surface temperature measurements. The Reynolds number used was 23000 and the nozzle-to-surface distance was L/d=2, 4, 6, 8, and 10 and the jet angle was $\alpha$=$0^{\circ}\; 15^{\circ}\;30^{\circ}C\; and \;40^{\circ}C$. In the experiment, the Nusselt number at the stagnation point decreases as the jet angle increases and has the maximum value for L/d=6. The X-axis Nusselt number distributions exhibit Secondary maxima at $0^{\circ}C\re $\alpha$\re 15^{\circ}C, L/d\le6$ for X/d<0(upstream) and at $0^{\circ}C\re $\alpha$40^{\circ}C,\;L/d\le4\;and\; at\; 30^{\circ}C\re $\alpha$$\leq$40^{\circ}C,\;L/d\le 6 $for X/d>0(downstream). The secondary maxima occurs at long distance from the stagnation point as the jet angle increases or the nozzle-to-surface distance decreases. The Y-axis Nusselt number distributions exhibit secondary maxima at Y/d=$\pm$2 for $0^{\circ}C\le a\le30^{\circ}C\; and\; L/d\le4, and \;for\;$\alpha$=40^{\circ}C$and L/d=2. The displacement of the maximum Nusselt number from the stagnation point increases as the jet angle increases or the nozzle-to-surface distance decreases and the maximum distance is about 0.67 times of the nozzle diameter. The ratio of the maximum Nusselt number to the stagnation Nusselt number increases as the jet angle increases.

몬테카를로 시뮬레이션에 의한 화재열차의 터널 내 정차확률 예측에 관한 연구 (Study on the prediction of the stopping probabilities in case of train fire in tunnel by Monte Carlo simulation method)

  • 철도터널의 방재시설 계획 시 터널의 안전성을 정량적 위험도 평가에 의해서 정량화하여 방재시설의 적정성 여부를 판단하도록 하고 있다. 이에 본 연구에서는 터널화재에 대한 정량적 위험도 평가 시 결과에 크게 영향을 미치는 화재열차의 터널 내 정차확률을 예측하는 방법을 제시하였다. 이를 위해서 열차의 주행저항계수를 고려하여 타력운전거리를 계산하기 위한 모델을 개발하였으며, 타력운전특성과 비상제동거리를 고려하여 몬테카를로 시뮬레이션 기법에 의해 터널연장 및 경사도, 초기주행속도를 변수로 하여 화재열차가 터널에 정차할 확률을 예측하였다. 타력운전거리의 예측을 위한 운동방정식은 KTX II의 주행저항계수를 반영하여 분석하였다. KTX II 열차의 경우, 타력운전거리는 상향경사의 터널에서는 경사도가 증가할수록 감소하나 하향경사구간에서는 정지하지 않고 계속하여 주행이 가능하다. 화재열차의 터널 내 정차확률은 열차의 주행속도가 증가할수록, 경사도가 낮을수록 감소하며, 고속열차(주행속도 250 km/h 이상)는 인적오류를 고려하지 않는 경우, 경사도 0.5% 이하의 터널에서는 화재 시 열차가 터널에 정차할 확률은 0%이고, 경사도가 증가하고 터널연장이 증가하면 정차확률은 급격하게 증가하는 것으로 나타났다.

커먼레일시스템의 비증발 디젤 분무에서 분사율과 주변기체의 밀도에 따른 주변기체 유입 (Effect of Injection Rate and Gas Density on Ambient Gas Entrainment of Non-evaporating Transient Diesel Spray from Common-Rail Injection System)

  • Entrainment of ambient gas into a transient diesel spray is a crucial factor affecting the following preparation of combustible mixture. In this study, the entrainment characteristics of ambient gas for a non-evaporating transient diesel were investigated using a common-rail injection system. The effects of ambient gas density and nozzle hole geometry were assessed with entrainment coefficient. Laser Doppler Velocimetry (LDV) technique was introduced to measure the entrainment speed of ambient gas into a spray. There appeared a region where the entrainment coefficients remained almost constant while injection rates were still changing. The effect of common-rail pressure, which altered the slope of injection rate curve, was hardly noticed at this region. Entrainment coefficient increased with ambient gas density, that is, the effect of ambient gas density was greater than that of turbulent jet whose entrainment coefficient remained constant. The non-dimensional distance was defined to reflect the effect of nozzle hole diameter and ambient gas density together. The mean value of entrainment coefficient was found to increase with non-dimensional distance from the nozzle tip, which would be suggested as the guideline for the nozzle design.
