A neural-attenuation model before Mexican extreme events

  • The most recent shaking experiences have demonstrated that the predictions of the seismic models are not always in agreement with the registered responses, especially in the face of extreme earthquakes. Records collected from 1960 to 2011 at a rock-like site are used to develop a neural network that permits to estimate peak ground accelerations via the magnitude, the focal depth, the site-source distance and a seismogenic zone. The neural model is applied to the 8th and 19th September 2017 events that hit Mexican territory and the obtained results show that the network is flexible enough to work appropriately to various conditions of intensity and sites-sources with remarkably predictive capacity. The neural-attenuation curves are compared with those obtained from Ground Motion Prediction Equations and their performance is assessed for events, in addition to the devastating Mexican events, from Japan, Taiwan, Chile and USA.

  • Power line communication: PLC which easy to install at anywhere near outlet for electric machine. PLC uses transmission line for voltage of which is 60 Hz. One of the important thing is the processes of adding signal to power line and extracting the signal from power line, another is to choose the strong modulation method which sends signals to long distance without loosing in PLC channel. but PLC channel have very high and variable noise and attenuation and then it is very hard to transmit optimally between the transmitter and the receiver. AWGN, impulse noise and attenuation are created. To overcome the noise and attenuation. Multi-carrier Modulation methods like as OFDM and DMT which divide the channel into many sub-channel are powerful communication methods for PLC. 차콜 화강암에서의 AE/MA파의 감쇄특성 (Attenuation Characteristics of AE/MA Waves in Charcoal Granite)

  • 세립화강암 시료에 개별 보정된 6개의 탐촉자를 부착하고 연필심 파괴로 급재하하여 AE/MA파를 발신 시키면서 고주파인 AE/MA파의 감쇄특성을 연구하였다. AE/MA파의 강도는 거리뿐만 아니라 발신원과 수신점의 상대적인 방위에 의하여 결정되며 Charcoal 세립화강암의 감쇄상수는 1.058이다. 이 상수는 AE/MA파으 주어진 경로에 대하여서 발신원과 수신점의 상대적인 방위에 무관하게 적용 가능한 것으로 평가된다.

  • In Korean Building Code 2005(KBC-2005), the Seismic Zone Factor is regulated by separating the seismic zone into two part. This seismic zone factor is not matched to regional seismic characteristics of our country because the factor is based on International Building Code 2000 (IBC-2000) of USA. This study inquiry for having a sufficient grasp of the seismic characteristics of south Korea region and appling for the seismic cope plan. We have collected and analyzed earthquake record happened in domestic region. There are two kinds of earthquake record. One is Historical earthquake data, another is Instrumental earthquake data. I used Instrumental earthquake record data which reliance is higher than historical earthquake data for proposing attenuation formulas by analyzing a correlation the epicenter and the distance.

포화유무 및 온도조건에 따른 콘크리트 음향방출 신호 감쇠계수 결정 (Determination of acoustic emission signal attenuation coefficient of concrete according to dry, saturation, and temperature condition)

  • 본 연구는 경주 중·저준위 지하 처분환경에서의 사일로 콘크리트의 음향방출(AE) 신호 감쇠계수(α)를 결정하기 위해 신호감쇠 실험을 수행하였다. 활용된 시료들은 경주 중·저준위 처분장 사일로에 사용된 콘크리트 배합비로 제작하였으며 28일간 수중 양생 후 처분환경에 맞도록 온도 및 포화유무에 따라 추가적으로 노출시켰다. 처분조건 별 각 3개씩의 공시체에 대하여 신호전달거리에 따른 AE 신호를 측정한 결과, 초기구간에서는 포화콘크리트의 AE 진폭과 절대에너지가 건조콘크리트의 경우보다 더 높게 나타났지만, α는 포화콘크리트의 경우가 더 높게 산정되었다. 또한, 포화유무와 상관없이 온도가 증가함에 따라 α는 감소하는 경향을 보였다. α는 온도조건보다는 포화유무에 따른 영향이 큰 것으로 분석되었으며, 이는 콘크리트 처분구조물의 감쇠신호 측정 시 포화여부를 고려한 판단이 중요하다는 것을 의미한다. 처분환경에서의 콘크리트 α는 균열이 발생한 위치에서의 실제 AE 특성 파라미터 값을 추정함으로써 경주 중·저준위 처분환경에서 사일로 콘크리트의 건전성을 예측하고 센서의 최적 배치를 결정하는 데 도움이 될 것으로 기대한다.

철도교통소음의 특성에 관한연구 (A Study on the Characteristics of Railroad Traffic Noise)

  • This study has been conducted to achieve the following objectives: First, in order to understand the horizontal propagation and attenuation characteristics for the railroad traffic noise, we selected areas within 100 meters away from the railroad and then selected Saemaul-ho and Mugoongwha-ho as the subjects for our experiment. In this way, we analyzed the horizontal propagation and attenuation characteristics for the traffic noise occurring in diversified areas. Second, in order to understand the vertical propagation and attenuation characteristics for the railroad traffic noise, we measured and analyzed the distributional characteristics of vertical sound pressure levels on each floor of multi-storied apartment buildings according to changes of traffic load and types, and the existence or nonexistence of soundproof walls. For the case of the railroad traffic noise, we also selected Samaul-ho and Mugoongwha-ho as the subjects for our experiment, and we measured and analyzed the different noise levels on each floor of multi-storied apartment buildings from the soundproof wall. The results of Horizontal propagation and attenuation characteristics for the railroad traffic noise are as follows: In cases of the flat land, cutting land, and bridge area, as distance increases, the sound pressure level steadily decreases. The sound pressure level for the bridge area is higher than that of the flat land with a measurement of $5.5{\sim}10.2\;dB(A)$. Vertical propagation and attenuation characteristics for the railroad traffic noise are as follows: The amount of sound pressure level decrease is $14.2{\sim}14.8\;dB(A)$ for Samaul-ho and $13.5{\sim}14.3\;dB(A)$ for Mugoongwha-ho when measuring the vertical sound pressure levels at heights lower than 4.5 m, which indicates a fairly large decrease. At 6 m, the amount of decrease is 8.6 dB(A) for Samaul-ho and 8.2 dB(A) for Mugoongwha-ho, which indicates a small decrease.

  • 본 연구에서는 건설 현장에 매설된 삼중관이 항타 진동에 노출되었을 경우에 발생하는 동적 거동을 분석하였다. 항타 에너지는 7tonf의 램이 1.2m에서 낙하하였을 경우로 선정하였으며 이격 거리는 5∼30m로 변화하여 연구를 진행 하였다. 관의 길이 방향 중심에서의 진동 속도와 응력을 확인 하였고, 감쇠비를 고려하여 삼중관의 거동을 분석하였다. 매설 심도가 동일한 경우의 진동 속도에 대한 감쇠율은 이격 거리가 증가함에 따라 감소하는 추세를 보이며 내관에서 역시 이격 거리가 증가함에 따라 감소하는 추세를 보인다. 상하부에서 최대 응력값을 보이는 내관과 달리 외관은 불규칙한 응력 분포를 나타내는 것을 확인하였다.

  • The distance correction term -logA0 of the local magnitude scale was estimated for earthquakes in southern Korea using linear least-squares inversion and interpolation scheme. Total 1054 short-period velocity seismograms from 107 local events recorded at hypocentral distances ranging from 10 to 480 km were used in this study. Simulated Wood-Anderson amplitudes were obtained from velocity seismograms with use of revised Wood-Anderson instrument response with static magnification 2080, damping factor 0.7, and natural period 0.8 sec. The estimated distance correction term for southern Korea is found to be -logA0=1.137 log(r/17) + 0.001159(r-17) + 20, where r is hypocentral distance in kilometers. The attenuation rate of this distance correction term falls between those of southern California and eastern North America.

  • The nonparametric method was employed to obtain detailed broadband attenuation characteristics of horizontal Fourier spectra without generally assigned constraint that derived path terms be zeros at a reference distance. Instead, path terms fer a reference distance were obtained based on the physical phenomenon that the seismic phase is stable over the hypocentral distance range from 200km to 400km so that the Q-values evaluated at several distances inside that region should be the same. The inverted path terms show three distinct linear regions roughly divided by hypocentral distances at 65km and 115km. Also complex behavior at the near distance range below 100km was revealed which can not be properly fitted by combination of single $Q_{0}$ $f^{η}$ model and any geometrical spreading models.s.

  • In this paper, an infrastructure-based localization method using underwater wireless sensor network (UWSN) is addressed. A localization using the UWSN is necessary to widen the usage of underwater applications, however it is very difficult to establish the UWSN due to the restrictions of water. In this paper, to extend the usage of UWSN at the infrastructure, we propose a sophisticated UWSN localization method using the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) of the electromagnetic waves. During the electromagnetic waves propagating in underwater, there arises a lot of attenuation according to the distance, while the attenuation shows uniformity according to the distance. Using this characteristics, the localization system in underwater infrastructure is proposed and the experimental results show the effectiveness.
