Three novel species, Philodromus daoxianen n. sp., P. ganxiensis n. sp., and P. longitibiacus n. sp., are described based on the specimens collected from Hunan Province, China. P. daoxianen is similar to P. rufus, but its spermathecae is calabash-shaped, that of the latter spherical. It is also similar to P. kendrabatai, but differs in the form of atrium, distance between two spermathecae and dorsal markings of the abdomen. P. ganxiensis differs from other species of the genus Philodromus in eplgynum by a pair of sword-shaped apophyses, palpal organ with slightly wider distal end of a tibial apophysis, and knife-shaped membranous median apophysis. P. longitibiacus differs from other related species in long and thin palps and legs especially tibia of palps, which is about 4.5 times as long as the cybium and basal portion of embolus strongly sclerotized.
A segmental resection and rotationplasty was performed in 23 patients with malignant and aggressive boning tumor of the distal femur or proximal tibia between February 1988 and September 1992 at the Severance Hospital. There were 13 male and 10 female patients. The yongest was 5 years old and the oldest was 37 years old. Mean age at operation was 22 years. Of the 23 cases 14 were osteosarcoma, 7 were giant cell tumor and 2 were synovial sarcoma. After an average observation period of 32.5months, there was no evidence of local recurrence but 6 distant metastasis developed. According to Shriner's rating scale, the functional result were excellent or good in all cases. All patient were convinced that they chosen the appropriate operative procedure and the ability to achieve high level of activity was considered as the main benefit.
Osteogenic sarcoma is the most common primary malignant tumor of bone in which tumor cells form neoplastic osteoid or bone or both. Classic osteogenic sarcoma usually involves the metaphysis of the more rapidly growing long bones (distal femur, proximal tibia). Osteogenic sarcoma of the foot is rarely noted and only a few well documented cases have been reported. Osteogenic sarcoma of foot can clinically, radiographically, and histologically mimic several benign lesions and tumor-like lesions, so it sometimes leads to late diagnosis and delayed treatment. We experienced a case of primary osteogenic sarcoma on left calcaneus in 66-years-old female and report it with a review of references.
Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs) usually arise in soft tissues; they are rarely found in the bone. This paper reports a case of MPNST in the foot and ankle joint involving the distal tibia, talus, calcaneus, navicular, medial intermediate, and lateral cuneiform, cuboid, and 2nd to 4th metatarsal bone. Palliative treatment was performed. The authors encountered a patient with intraosseous MPNST of the midfoot who presented with nonspecific clinical and radiologic findings. This case shows that a high index of suspicion and a histopathology examination, including immunohistochemistry, will be necessary for an accurate diagnosis.
High ankle sprain (distal tibiofibular syndesmosis injury) occurs from rotational injuries, specifically external rotation, and may be associated with ankle fractures. The prevalence of these injuries may be higher than previously reported because they may be missed in an initial examination. Syndesmosis injury can lead to significant complications in injured ankle joints, so a precise physical examination and radiological evaluation is necessary. The most important treatment goal is to have the tibia and fibula located in the correct position with respect to each other and to heal in that position. The methods to fix these injuries is controversial.

The spider fauna of mountains, including national parks, in Korea was intensively surveyed in 2018-2019. During the seasonal surveys, males of Clubiona bakurovi Mikhailov, 1990 (family Clubionidae Wagner, 1887) and Otacilia ansula sp. nov. (family Phrurolithidae Banks, 1892) were collected from shrub foliage and leaf litter, respectively, in mountainous mixed forests. The males of Otacilia ansula sp. nov. can be easily distinguished from those of other its congeners by the slender and hook-shaped retrolateral tibial apophysis, ovoid distal tegular apophysis, and one dorsal spine on the femur with seven pairs of ventral spines on the tibia of leg I. This study provides descriptions of these two species with diagnosis, measurements, and morphological photographs.
Ankle fractures with syndesmotic injuries often require fixation, where metal screw fixation is a popular method. However, as the patient begins weight-bearing, most syndesmotic screws tend to loosen or break, and removal of such screws has been challenging for the surgeons, as the available techniques require predrilling or trephination and are associated with risks of bone damage. This study presents a case with technical tip for the removal of broken tricortical-fixed non-cannulated syndesmotic screws. It implements the generation of a small cortical window in the medial distal tibia and the use of pliers to engage the screw tip and remove through the medial side. The technique presented in the current study overcomes these limitations and facilitates minimal bone damage and reduced exposure to radiation.

We present a case of medullary sclerosis of the appendicular skeleton in a patient with chronic renal insufficiency for whom MR imaging findings were characteristic. T1- and T2-weighted MR images showed multiple vertical lines (medullary streaks) of low signal intensity in the metaphyses and diaphyses of the distal femur and proximal tibia.
Purpose: The purpose of this study is to find out the normal results in ankle on varus stress, valgus stress, and anterior draw stress in young men in korea. This would be helpful as the basic data of measuring of ankle instability for operational indication. Materials and Methods: Varus and Valgus stress anteroposterior radiographs and Anterior drawing stress lateral radiographs of 600 normal ankles were reviewed. First, A line parallel was drawn parallel to the articular surface of the distal tibia, and another line was drawn parallel to the articular surface of the talus on anteroposterior radiographs. The interior angle that subtended by these two lines was measured. Second, the reference point is located at the posterior border of the tibia, and the shortest distance from this point to the proximal posterior articular surface of the talus is measured. Results: There were 300 males and 600 ankles. The mean age overall was 21 years (19-22 years) old. The mean length of ankle on anterior draw stress was $5.54{\pm}3.33\;mm$. The mean a interior angle of ankle on varus stress was $0^{\circ}-8.93^{\circ}$, and on valgus stress $0^{\circ}-7.78^{\circ}$. Conclusion: We can consider for operational indication at over the 8.87 mm on anterior draw stress, over the $8.93^{\circ}$ on varus stress, and over the $7.78^{\circ}$ on valgus.
Introduction: Ulna is nearly equal to radius in function and bony architecture and strength in forearm. But in lower extremity, fibula is 1/5 of tibia in anatomic and functional point so we can find fibula transposition is commonly used in defect of tibia. We cannot find other article about segmental forearm bone transposition in man. The purpose of this study was to report our clinical and functional result of undergoing segmented transposition of ipsilateral ulna with its own vascular supply in defect of radius in 6 cases. Material and method: From June 1994 to October 2007, 7 segmented bone transpositional grafts in forearm were performed in Kyung Hee Medical Center. The distribution of age was from 20 years old to 73 years old. There was male in 6 cases and female in 1 case. The causes of operation were giant cell tumor in 1 case and traumatic origin in 6 cases; it was nonunion in 2 cases and fracture with severe comminution in 4 cases. Ipsilaterally segmented ulna keeping its own vascular supply was transported to defect of radius in severe traumatic patients and one patient whose tumor in radius had been excised. Transported ulna was fixed to proximal and distal radius remnants by plate and screw. In one case with giant cell tumor, transported ulna was connected to radius across wrist joint as wrist joint fusion. Joint preserving procedures were performed in 6 cases with crushing injury of radius. Results: We could obtain solid bony union in all cases and good functional results. The disadvantage was relative shortening of forearm, but we could overcome this problem. Conclusion: We think that ipsilateral segmented ulna transposition keeping its own vascular supply to radius can be perfomed with one of procedures in cases with wide defect in radius.
