  • The nature of the cavity region and dispersion around trianglular ridge was investigated using model. The artifical neutral boundary layer was simulated in water channel. Two dimensional trianglar ridges, having height of 1.2 cm and various width were placed normal to the flow. Mean velocity with many dimensionless parameters were measured and compared with wind tunnel results by other studies. Using vorticity generator and roughness, the neutral boundary layer was well represented by the water channel. concentration patterns resulting from dye source placed 0.2 cm height above were examined. Narrower the trianglar ridge width resulted in increased amplification factor and the larges amplification factor was observed near downward top of the ridge.

  • Litho printing ink vehicles based on rosin modified phenolic are faster drying, have better durability, are harder and glosser and have greater resistance to water than ones based on ester gums. Ink-Water balance and rheological properties are important in litho printing process. These physical properties is concerned with molecular weight of Resin to use vehicle. So this paper was studied about the effects of changing molecular weight of Rosin modified phenolic on surface tension, viscosity, pseudoplasticity and printablility of Litho Inks. The results were as follows. 1) The surface tension of model inks depended on the molecular weight of the resin : Dispersion componnent of ink increase but non dispersion component decrease as molecular weight of Resin increase. 2) Water pick-up of litho ink is more fast balance, using low molecular weight of Resin. 3) Viscosity, Yield value and Newtonian value of model inks increase as molecular weight of Resin increase. 4) The litho ink prepared with the modified phenolic of which molecular weight is about 20000 showed the highest printing density and gloss.

  • The potential impact of hypothetical accidents that occur during the immediate and deferred dismantling of the Kori Unit 1 steam generator has been comprehensively evaluated. The evaluation includes determining the inventory of radionuclides in the Steam Generator based on surface contamination measurements, assuming a rate of release for each accident scenario, and applying external and internal exposure dose coefficients to assess the effects of radionuclides on human health. The evaluation also includes calculating the atmospheric dispersion factor using the PAVAN code and analyzing three years of meteorological data from Kori NPP to determine the degree of diffusion of radionuclides in the atmosphere. Overall, the effective dose for residents living in the Exclusion Area Boundary (EAB) of Kori NPP is predicted, an it is found that the maximum level of the dose is 0.034% compared to the annual dose limit of 1 mSv for the general public. This implies that the potential impact of hypothetical accidents on human health discussed above is within acceptable limits.

  • Passive gas dispersions over a 1/1000 scale terrain model at Eiffel type wind tunnel were reproduced by numerical simulation. Large eddy simulation was used to treat the sub-grid scale turbulences. The terrain features were represented by millions of point forces densely distributed over the solid surface using the virtual boundary method. The model simulations agreed very well with the experiments in a consistent fashion for all wind directions. The measured profiles of the wind speeds as well as the tracer gas concentrations were nicely simulated by the CFD model at most locations scattered over the model terrain. With scale factor adjusted and the thermal stratification effects incorporated, the CFD model was expected to provide reliable information on pollutant dispersions over the real complex terrains.

  • Gas leakage and dispersion in the underground LNG power plant can lead to serious fire and explosion accident. In this study, computational fluid dynamics simulation was applied to model the dynamic process of gas leakage and dispersion phenomena in a closed space. To analyze the risk assessment factor, such as the flammable volume ratio, transient simulations were carried out for different scenarios. The simulation results visualized the gas distribution with time in the closed space. The flammable volume ratio was introduced for quantitative analysis the fire/explosion probability.

  • The one of the most important factors we shoud consider in designing the processes using porous media such as activated carbon adsorber is the prediction of the breakthrough curve. In this study, the breakthrough curve of BAC process for the treatment of refractory pollutants was evaluated by simplified engineering analysis. Through the experiments, the slope of the breakthrough curve can be determined by retardation factor, R and apparent dispersion coefficient, $D_{app}$ which is determined by hydrodynamic dispersion, mass transfer effects and isotherm. Estimated concentration of effluent was agreed with the experimental values. Also, it is possible to use this method for predicting the breakthrough curve of the pollutants removal and tranport of pollutants in porous media.

  • Liquid fuel can be easily exploded and release more energy of detonation than conventional explosives because it has different explosion mechanism. In order to analyze dispersion characteristics of liquid fuel for the safety purpose, two tests are conducted. First, pre-test, which is a computer simulation, is carried out by a software called ANSYS AUTODYN to eliminate the effect of a canister that usually causes irregular dispersion of the fuel. Second, field test is performed to find out the amount and density effect of bursting charge. High speed cameras are installed in front of the canister to visualize the mechanism. Velocity, area and radius of the dispersed cloud are measured by image processing software, these are shown that the amount of bursting charge affects cloud velocity and area but density is not a significant factor of cloud formation.

  • An engine oil sensor based on multiwall carbon nanotubes was fabricated with screen printing method. Since carbon nanotubes are generally intertwined, dispersion of the carbon nanotubes in the binding agent (ethyl cellulose, a-terpineol, frit) is a key factor for large yield of engine oil sensor. By conventional dispersion method, a hand-mill method, the maximum yield was 80% at most. However, we used the hand ultrasonic, in order to increase the yield of the sensors. As a results, our engine oil sensor fabricated by the screen printing method shows excellent yield rate of 97%, when we dispersed a paste by the hand ultrasonic method.

  • A hybrid finite difference method for the longitudinal dispersion equation, which is based on combining the Holly-Preissmann scheme with fifth-degree Hermite interpolating polynomial and the generalized Crank-Nicholson scheme, is described and comparatively evaluated with other characteristics-based numerical methods. Longitudinal dispersion of an instantaneously-loaded pollutant source is simulated, and computational results are compared with the exact solution. The present method is free from wiggles regardless of the Courant number, and exactly reproduces the location of the peak concentration. Overall accuracy of the computation increases for smaller value of the weighting factor, $\theta$of the model. Larger values of $\theta$ overestimates the peak concentration. Smaller Courant number yields better accuracy, in general, but the sensitivity is very low, especially when the value of $\theta$ is small. From comparisons with the hybrid method using cubic interpolating polynomial and with splitoperator methods, the present method shows the best performance in reproducing the exact solution as the advection becomes more dominant.

  • An installation of automated speed enforcement system(ASES) was known for traffic safety and accident preventive effects that traffic characteristics transmute by speed distribution stabilizing. This study is verified the variations of average speed, 85% speed, speed distribution and dispersion as traffic characteristics depend on enforcement system influences in the road. We tested selected 5 areas. By and large, it has a little differences depend on road geometric structure and traffic environment but that is not too much. After all, after automated speed enforcement system installed in all of test areas, average speed, 85% accumulated speed, speed distribution and dispersion characteristics were declined and equalized. The speed dispersion was smaller than before installed the ASES. The speed dispersion value of each case that is the limited speed has been 70Km/h, 80Km/h at flat and straight, 80Km/h at downhill and straight or downhill and left-curved area was 77.3%, 65.2%, 68.7% and 54.1%. Each of the data was declined. We could analyze that average speed distributed depletion factor was declined rapidly by 66.3% in test area.
