유전체 구형 도파로 해석에 대한 고찰 (Review of analysis for dielectric rectangual waveguides)

  • 유전체 구형 도파로를 quasi TE모드와 quasi TM모드에 의하여 분석한다. 전기장과 자장의 각 성분을 근사화하지 않고 또한 각 유전체 경계면에서 경계 조건을 만족시키도록 하여 유전체 구형 도파로를 분석했다. 경계 조건을 도입하여 얻어지는 행렬식을 풀어 보면 전자파의 진행 방향인 z방향에 대한 전파 상수를 구할 수 있다. 수치해석에 의하여 유전체 구형 도파로를 분석 할 경우, 종종 발생하여 프로그래밍을 복잡하게 하는 spurious 모드를이 이 분석법에는 나타나지 않았다. 그러므로 이 방법에 의해 구해진 전파 상수 값들은 유전체 구형 도파로 분석에서 많이 사용되는 유한요소법이나 유한차등법 등과 비교하는데 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.

Anti-slosh effect of a horizontal porous baffle in a swaying/rolling rectangular tank: Analytical and experimental approaches

  • The horizontal porous baffle and its effect as an anti-slosh device have been investigated intensively in a swaying and rolling rectangular tank. To accurately assess the level at which porous baffles reduce liquid sloshing, the Matched Eigenfunction Expansion Method (MEEM) has been utilized as an analytical tool. The velocity potentials in the horizontal baffle-covered fluid region are expressed by the sum of the homogeneous and particular solutions to avoid solving the complex dispersion equation. By applying an equivalent linearized quadratic loss model, the nonlinear algebraic equation is derived and solved by implementing the Newton-Raphson iterative scheme. To prove the validity of the present theoretical model, a series of experiments have been conducted with different centered horizontal porous baffles with varying porosities and submerged depths in a swaying and rolling rectangular tank. Reasonably good agreements are obtained regarding the analytical solutions and the experiment's findings. The influence of porosity, submerged depth, and length of a centered horizontal porous baffle on anti-slosh performance have been analyzed, especially at resonance modes. The developed predictive tool can potentially provide guidelines for optimal design of the horizontal porous baffle.

감귤원에서 가을철 귤응애 성충의 공간분포와 표본조사 (Spatial Dispersion and Sampling of Adults of Citrus Red Mite, Panonychus citri(McGregor) (Acari: Tetranychidae) in Citrus Orchard in Autumn Season)

  • 귤응애 성충의 표본추출법을 개발하기 위하여 2개년(2001-2002년)동안 8월부터 11월까지 잎과 열매에 대해 각 조사일에 평균밀도를 조사하였다. 잎과 열매에서 귤응애 성충 밀도의 관계를 시기별로 비교하였으며, Taylor's power law (TPL)와 Iwao's patchiness regression (IPR)을 이용하여 분산지수를 비교하였다. 잎(X)과 열매(Y)에서 귤응애 성충 밀도의 관계는 ln(Y+l)=1.029 ln(X+l)($r^2$=0.80)의 직선적인 관계가 있었으며, 열매가 성숙될수록 잎보다 열매에서 귤응애 밀도가 높아지는 경향이었다. 잎과 열매의 표본조사에서 TPL이 IPR보다 평균-분산 관계를 더 잘 나타내었으며, TPL의 기울기와 절편은 두 표본단위간, 연도간에 차이가 없었다. 정착도 0.25일 때 요방제밀도 2.0, 2.5와 3.0에서의 의사결정을 위한 표본추출조사법을 개발하였으며, 조사에 필요한 최대조사나무수(고정표본크기에서 필요 나무수)는 각각 19, 16과 15주였으며, 이 때의 의사결정임 계값 $T_{critical}$은 각각 554,609와 659였다.,609와 659였다.

한 시멘트공장의 분진발생과 대기확산에 관한 조사연구 (A Study on the Emission and Dispersion of Particulate Matter from a Cement Plant)

  • To investigate the an air pollution by particulate matter and its dispersion, a cement plant produceing portland cement 600,000 ton/year and its vicinity were surveyed from Obtober, 1980 to April, 1983. The survey was mainly focused on main stack emmission rate of the cement plant and particle size distribution in the dust, dustfall and total suspended particulate concentration in the area by month and distance from the stack. The results of the study were as follows; 1. The main stack emission rate was surveyed before and after the spray tower was additionally installed to the original E.P bag filter. Before the spray tower installed, the main stack emission rate was higher ($0.64g/Nm^3$) than the emission standard of Korean Environmental Preservation Law's ($0.59g/Nm^3$, amended to $0.4g/Nm^3$ on April 1983), but after the spray tower was installed, its main stack emission rate was markedly decreased to the standard ($0.43g/Nm^3$). 2. $2{\sim}3{\mu}m$ of the particle size was the largest portion (20.8%) of the dust particulate from the main stack and 50% of the frequency distribution was $1.5{\mu}m$ of the size. Most particle size was below $10{\mu}m$. 3. The spray tower reduced the dustfall to $37.81{\sim}9.76\;ton/km^2/month$ while dustfall appeared at $45.29-15.45ton/km^2/month$, in the vicinity of plant before spray tower installed 4. Mean concentrations of total suspended particulate for 24 hours of the various stations were determined in $20.6-200.0{\mu}g/m^3$, 3 stations of tham were higher than the value of Harry and William's arthmetic average standard $130{\mu}g/m^3$. 5. Linear regression between dustfall [X] and total suspended particulate[Y] concentration was an equation, Y=4.024X+11.479.[r=0.91] 6. During the whole seasons in the opposite area 100m apart from the omission source the prevailing wind direction was with estimated more than $30ton/km^2/month$, and the concentration of total suspended particulate for 24 hours averaging time was more than $140{\mu}g/m^3$ in the same area and direction. 7. Assuming the wind direction were constant through the day dustfalls for a day were estimated at $13.40ton/km^2/day,\;10.79ton/km^2/day$ and $4.55ton/km^2/day$ at various distances of 100m, 500m and 1,500m from the emission source respectively. 8. In the simutalion of dustfall and suspended dust by area, Gaussian dispersion model modified by size distribution of particulate matter was not applicated since the emission of dust were from multi sources other them stack. From the above results, it could be applied that the dispersion of dust from the cement plant is estimated and regulated for the purpose of environmental protection.

반응표면분석법에 의한 양파유 미세캡슐화 공정의 최적화 (Optimization of Onion Oil Microencapsulation by Response Surface Methodology)

  • 생체내에서 각종 생리활성이 있는 양파유의 기능성 및 저장성 향상을 위하여 agar와 gelatin이 혼합되어 있는 물질을 피복물질로 사용하여 양파유(중심물질)를 미세하게 캡슐화하는 작업을 수행하였으며, 먼저 양파유 미세캡슐화 수율을 예민하게 측정할 수 있는 방법을 ethyl acetate 추출 및 gas chromatography 기술을 사용하여 확립하였다. 확립된 미세캡슐화 수율 측정법을 사용하여 양파유 미세캡슐화를 위한 제반 공정조건들, 즉 [중심물질, Cm] : [피복물질, Wm]의 비율($X_1$), 분산액의 온도($X_2,\;^{\circ}C$), 분산액내의 detergent 농도($X_3$, %(w/v)), 유화체의 농도($X_4$, %(w/w)) 등의 최적화를 수행하였으며, 공정 최적화를 위해서는 반응표면분석법(response surface methodology, RSM)을 이용하였다. RSREG 처리 결과, 4가지 독립변수가 각각 변화함에 따른 미세캡슐화 수율(Y, %)에 대한 회귀식은 $Y=97.028571-0.775000(X_1)-0.746726(X_1){\cdot}(X_1)-1.100000(X_3){\cdot}(X_2)$으로 표현되었으며, 반응표면분석 결과 양파유 미세캡슐화를 위한 최적화 조건으로서 [중심물질, Cm] : [피복물질, Wm]의 비율은 4.5 : 5.5(w/w), 분산액의 온도는 $17.1^{\circ}C$, 분산액내 detergent농도는 0.037%(w/w), 유화제(sorbitan monolaurate, HLB 16.7)의 농도는 0.42%(w/w)인 것으로 판명되었으며(미세캡슐화 수율의 최대 예측값은 95.7%), 이상의 최적조건하에서 양파유 미세캡슐화를 실제 수행한 결과 96.2%의 미세캡슐화수율 실측값을 얻을 수 있었다. 따라서, RSM에 의하여 결정된 미세캡슐화 최적 조건은 ${\pm}5%$ 오차범위내에서의 높은 신뢰성을 갖는 것으로 판명되었으며, 실제 미세캡슐화 공정에 적용가능한 것으로 판단되었다.

  • At nanoscales, the Boltzmann transport equation (BTE) can best describe the behavior of phonons which are energy carriers in crystalline materials. Through this study, the phonon transport in some micro/nanoscale problems was simulated with the Monte Carlo method which is a kind of the stochastic approach to the BTE. In the Monte Carlo method, the superparticles of which the number is the weighted value to the actual number of phonons are allowed to drift and be scattered by other ones based on the scattering probability. Accounting for the phonon dispersion relation and polarizations, we have confirmed the one-dimensional transient phonon transport in ballistic and diffusion limits, respectively. The thermal conductivity for GaAs was also calculated from the kinetic theory by using the proposed model. Besides, we simulated the electrostatic discharge event in the NMOS transistor as a two-dimensional problem by applying the Monte Carlo method.

자기신호처리 적외선 감지소자의 2차원 수치해석 (A Two-dimensional Numerical Simulation of Self-signal Processing Infrared Detectors)

  • We developed a two-dimensional numerical simulator which can analyze the electrical as well as optical characteristics and evaluate the detection performances of self-signal processing infrared detectors. It solves the poisson equation and the electron, hole current continuity equations including the optical generation and recombination models. To speed up convergency rate. the Newton algorithm is used. Automatic triangular grid generator make it easy to simulate the devices with the various read-out geometries. This simulator can show the variation of spatial resolution which is caused by the transit velocity and transit time dispersion in bifurcate and horn geometries respectively. Also, we calculated the responsivity, noise, and detectivity in respect of the applied electric field and background field-of-view. The results obtained from simulation correspond to those of experiments, and it is verified that horn read-out geometry has the superior spatial resolution and detection performance to bifurcate geometry.

1D contaminant transport using element free Galerkin method with irregular nodes

  • The present study deals with the numerical modelling for the one dimensional contaminant transport through saturated homogeneous and stratified porous media using meshfree method. A numerical algorithm based on element free Galerkin method is developed. A one dimensional form of the advectivediffusive transport equation for homogeneous and stratified soil is considered for the analysis using irregular nodes. A Fortran program is developed to obtain numerical solution and the results are validated with the available results in the literature. A detailed parametric study is conducted to examine the effect of certain key parameters. Effect of change of dispersion, velocity, porosity, distribution coefficient and thickness of layer is studied on the concentration of the contaminant.

  • 대수층과 하천이 상호 연결된 시스템에서 분산오염원이 대수층에 유입될 때, 이송·분산 방정식의 Monte Carlo 수치실험을 이용하여 수리전도도 및 분산오염원 농도의 공간변화가 지하수유출 농도의 시간 변화에 미치는 영향을 평가하였다. 그리고 공간 분포모형과 공간 적분모형의 비교·분석을 통하여, 모형구 조가 간단한 공간 적분모형의 분산오염원 문제에 대한 적용 가능성을 검토하였다.

마이크로캡슐 잠열 축열재 혼합수의 열물성에 관한 연구 (A Study on Thermo-Physical Properties of Microencapsulated Phase Change Material Slurry)

  • This paper has dealt with thermo-physical properties of microencapsulated phase change material slurry as a latent heat storage material having a low melting point. The measured results of the thermo-physical properties of the test microencapsulated phase change material slurry, those are, density, specific heat, thermal conductivity and viscosity, were discussed for the temperature region of solid and liquid phases of the dispersion material (paraffin). The measurements of these properties of microencapsulated phase change material slurry have been carried out by using a specific-gravity meter, a water calorimeter, a differential scanning calorimeter(DSC), a transient hot wire method and rotating type viscometer, respectively. It was clarified that the additional properties law could be applied to the estimation of the density and specific heat of microencapsulated phase change material slurry and also the Euckens equation could be applied to the estimation of the thermal conductivity of this slurry.
