To estimate the dispersion coefficients in a coastal area with complex topography, several schemes using empirical equations expressed with and in lateral and vertical directions, respectively have been examined. Estimation results using these equations and meteorological data obtained from SODAR system were compared' with previously measured dispersion coefficients in other coastal areas. Validations of estimation results have been performed by comparing the measured concentrations with predicted ones empolying in Boryung coastal area. Important conclusions were drawn as follows; (1) Variations of lateral and vertical wind direction revealed different height dependency in upper and lower mixed boundary layer. (2) Because of turbulent constraint effect by large water body in a coastal region, the lateral and the vertical dispersion coefficients were smaller than those of P-G system. (3) As a result of examining the performance measure of these schemes through checking of coincidence between measured and predicted concentrations, vertical dispersion coefficients were smaller than those of P-G system, and the Cramer scheme was found to be more appropriate rather than others in the coastal area surrounding Boryung power plant.
Three sugar glass dispersions of sulfamerazine were prepared using dextrose, galactose and sucrose as the carriers, with the ratio of the drug to the carrier was 1:9. The chemical stability of sulfamerazine in the glass dispersion system was studied using TLC. TLC revealed no additional spot and there was good correspondence with the Sulfamerazine itself. While time required to dissolve 50%($T_{50%}$) of sulfamerazine powder was 390 min that of dextrose glass dispersion system was 1.5 min. and galactose system was 4.0 min. in distilled water. 23) $T_{50%}$ of physical mixture with dextrose, galactose and sucrose were 26.4 min., 26.5 min., and 26.0 min. respectively in distilled water. $T_{50%}$ of control was 54 min. and those of all of the glass dispersion systems were within 1 min. in 0.1N HCl. The dissolution rates of sulfamerazine from sugar glass dispersion system in distilled water was greater than that in 0.1N HCl.

We propose a dispersion-managed link with a non-midway optical phase conjugator (OPC), in which the residual dispersion per span (RDPS) of each fiber span is different for each transmission section before and after OPC. We numerically demonstrate the compensation for 960-Gb/s wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) signals distorted by chromatic dispersion and Kerr nonlinearity of the fiber. We consider different cases for non-midway OPC, including six fiber spans - OPC - 14 fiber spans and 14 fiber spans - OPC - 6 fiber spans. The numerical results show that the compensation of the distorted 960 Gb/s WDM is more efficient when the OPC is placed after 6-th fiber span as compared to after the 14-th fiber span. Our simulation results also indicate that the compensation effect increases when the difference in net residual dispersion between both transmission sections is not large, but they are not the same. Under this condition, the larger the magnitude of the RDPSs of each fiber span, the greater the compensation.
Wind plays an important role in cases of unexpected radioactive pollutant dispersion, deciding distribution and concentration of the leaked substance. The accurate prediction of wind has been challenging in numerical weather prediction models, especially near the surface because of the complex interaction between turbulent flow and topographic effect. In this study, we investigated the characteristics of atmospheric dispersion of radioactive material (i.e. 137Cs) according to the simulated boundary layer around the HANARO research nuclear reactor in Korea using the Weather Research and Forecasting (WRF)-Mesoscale Model Interface (MMIF)-California Puff (CALPUFF) model system. We examined the impacts of orographic drag on wind field, stability calculation methods, and planetary boundary layer parameterizations on the dispersion of radioactive material under a radioactive leaking scenario. We found that inclusion of the orographic drag effect in the WRF model improved the wind prediction most significantly over the complex terrain area, leading the model system to estimate the radioactive concentration near the reactor more conservatively. We also emphasized the importance of the stability calculation method and employing the skillful boundary layer parameterization to ensure more accurate low atmospheric conditions, in order to simulate more feasible spatial distribution of the radioactive dispersion in leaking scenarios.

To study the effects of structural difference and fatty acid chain length of glyceride, new dispersion agents having various glyceride structures such as mono-, di-, and tri-, were prepared using glycerol extracted from palm oil and fatty acid having various chain length ranges from 12 to 18. These dispersion agents were mixed with the rubber compounds and compared with conventional metal salt dispersion agents. Glyceride dispersion agent provided remarkable improvement in silica dispersion, compared to metal salt fatty acidic one, even though the viscosity of mixtures was relatively high due to low lubricating effect, and this was approved by mechanical properties, wear properties, and Payne effect. Also, the longer in chain length of fatty acid and the smaller in numbers of fatty acid, the dispersity of silica was improved.

The possibility of implementing nonuniform residual dispersion per span (RDPS) in optical links with net residual dispersion (NRD) controlled by precompensation and postcompensation for 960 Gbps WDM transmissions is studied and discussed. The fiber optic communication links investigated in this paper consist of inline dispersion management (DM) for each fiber spans and optical phase conjugator (OPC) at mid-way of total transmission length in order to compensate for WDM signal distortions due to group velocity dispersion (GVD) and nonlinearities. It is confirmed that the effect of nonuniform RDPS distribution on system performance is not significant. It is also confirmed that the optimal NRD is obtained to be one of two values of +10 ps/nm or -10 ps/nm, which depend on the deciding of NRD controlled by precompensation or postcompensation, and the exact RDPS configurations. The effective NRD ranges resulting eye opening penalty (EOP) below 1 dB are independent on the exact RDPS distribution for relative low launch power. Therefore, results show the possibility of implementing the flexible optical links to expand network construction for WDM transmission of high bit-rate capability.
In order for disperse dye based ink to be fitted with the critical requirements of ink jet printing, this study was undertaken to investigate the effects of 6 different dispersants on the milling efficiency of insoluble dye particles and dispersion stability of the final ink. It was found that a polystyrene dispersant with high molecular weight exerted relatively better dispersion stability which may be associated with its steric stabilization effect in the ink solution.
The compensation characteristics of WDM channels depending on residual dispersion per spans (RDPS) deviation in optical links with the randomly distributed RDPS for the adaptive configuration are investigated in this paper. Also, the link design rule related with RDPS deviations is proposed, from the viewpoint of the allowable net residual dispersion (NRD). It is confirmed that the effect of compensation for the distorted WDM channels is more increased as RDPS deviation is smaller. Also, it is confirmed that the decrease of the allowable NRD range for the exact eye opening penalty (EOP) is proportional to RDPS deviation. Therefore, the results of this research is expected to be the design reference for the flexible link configuration of long-haul optical transmission links.

In this paper, we investigated the degree of compensation for distorted optical pulse of wavelength division multiplexed(WDM) channel with initial frequency chirp generated in optical transmitter. The WDM channel signal distortion is due to chromatic dispersion, self phase modulation(SPM) and cross phase modulation(XPM) in fiber. The considered system is 3 ${\times}$ 40 Gbps intensity modulation direct detection(IM/DD) WDM transmission systems, which adopted mid-span spectral inversion(MSSI) as compensation method. We confirmed that the effect of initial frequency chirp on compensation for signal distortion due to a SPM is gradually decreased as a dispersion coefficient of fiber becomes gradually small. But, in the aspect of a compensation for signal distortion due to both SPM and XPM, the effect of initial frequency chirp on compensation is gradually decreased as a dispersion coefficient of fiber becomes gradually large.
To estimate dispersion stability of particles, suspending power and particle size were examined as functions of pHs, surfactants, electrolytes and ionic strengths using ${\alpha}-Fe_2O_3$ particle as the model of particulate soil. Suspending power and particle size were determined by UV-Vis spectrumeter and by light scattering using the polarization ratio method, respectively. The suspending power was relatively high with polyanion electrolytes and was low with neutral salts. The suspending power was biphasis, minimum pH 6~7, and the effect of surfactant on the suspending power was insignificant. Generally suspending power increased with decreasing the particle size governed aggregation of dispersed particles regardless of solution conditions. Hence the suspending power was inversely related to the particle size.
