Design and Optimization of Solid Dispersed Osmotic Pump Tablets of Aceclofenac, A Better Approach to Treat Arthritis

  • The aim of this work was to prepare porous osmotic pump tablets for controlled delivery of Aceclofenac. Aceclofenac solid dispersion was prepared to improve the solubility by using the drug - carrier (Mannitol) ratio of 1:1. The osmotic pump tablets were prepared using the solid dispersed product of Aceclofenac. The formulation contains potassium chloride as osmotic agent, cellulose acetate as semipermeable membrane, poly ethylene glycol (PEG 4000) as pore former and sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) as solubility enhancer. The formulations were designed by the general factors such as osmotic agent and pore former. All formulations were evaluated for various physical parameters and, the in vitro release studies were conducted as per USP. The drug release kinetic studies such as zero order, first order, and Higuchi and Korsmeyer peppas were determined and compared. All the formulations gave more controlled release compared to the marketed tablet studied. Numerical optimization techniques were applied to found out the best formulation by considering the parameter of in vitro drug release kinetics and dissolution profile standards. It was concluded that the porous osmotic pump tablets (F7) composed of Aceclofenac solid dispersion/Potassium chloride/Lactose/Sodium lauryl sulphate/Magnesium Stearate (400/40/95/10/5, mg/tab) and coating composition with Cellulose acetate/ PEG 4000 (60/40 %w/w) is the most satisfactory formulation. The porous osmotic pump tablets provide prolonged, controlled, and gastrointestinal environment-independent drug release.

Development of a radiological emergency evacuation model using agent-based modeling

  • In order to mitigate the damage caused by accidents in nuclear power plants (NPPs), evacuation strategies are usually managed on the basis of off-site effects such as the diffusion of radioactive materials and evacuee traffic simulations. However, the interactive behavior between evacuees and the accident environment has a significant effect on the consequential gap. Agent-based modeling (ABM) is a method that can control and observe such interactions by establishing agents (i.e., the evacuees) and patches (i.e., the accident environments). In this paper, a radiological emergency evacuation model is constructed to realistically check the effectiveness of an evacuation strategy using NetLogo, an ABM toolbox. Geographic layers such as radiation sources, roads, buildings, and shelters were downloaded from an official geographic information system (GIS) of Korea, and were modified into respective patches. The dispersion model adopted from the puff equation was also modified to fit the patches on the geographic layer. The evacuees were defined as vehicle agents and a traffic model was implemented by combining the shortest path search (determined by an A * algorithm) and a traffic flow model incorporated in the Nagel-Schreckenberg cellular automata model. To evaluate the radiological harm to the evacuees due to the spread of radioactive materials, a simple exposure model was established to calculate the overlap fraction between the agents and the dispersion patches. This paper aims to demonstrate that the potential of ABM can handle disaster evacuation strategies more realistically than previous approaches.

스티렌/노말 부틸 메타크릴레이트와 알루미나의 분산 공중합에서 중합인자에 따른 입경변화 연구 (A Study on Particle Size with Polymerization Factor in Dispersion Copolymerization of Styrene/n-Butylmethacrylate and Alumina)

  • 분산중합법에 의해 무기물을 포함하는 고분자 미립자를 합성하기 위해 styrene과 n-butyl methacrylate가 알루미나와 함께 중합되었다. Styrene과 n-butylmethacrylate의 무게 비는 3:1이었고, 입자안정제는 poly(N-vinyl pyrrolidon), 중합 개시제로는 2,2'-azobis(isobutyronitrile)를 사용하여 개시제의 농도, 분산매의 종류, 분산매의 혼합 용해도 상수 (${\delta}_{mix}$), 커플링제의 종류와 농도에 따른 입자경을 조사하였다. 개시제의 농도가 증가함에 따라 입자경이 소폭 상승하였고 분산매의 극성이 증가할수록 입경이 증가하였고, 분산매로서, 이소프로판올과 이온교환수를 조성비에 따라 사용한 경우, $[{\delta}_{mix}]^{-4.01}\;{\propto}$ 평균 입자경과 $[{\delta]_{mix}]^{-0.83}\;{\propto}$ 입경 분포의 관계를 얻을 수 있었다. 커플링제의 종류와 농도변화에 따른 입자경 및 입자경 분포는 뚜렷한 차이가 없었다.

  • The hardening system of polyurethanes has usually caused by air pollution. bad working condition and fire hazard according to using orgarnic solvents. Therefore there have been researched on emulsion, water soluble and colloid-dispersion based water soluble instead of using organic solvents recently. This study synthesized polyurethane dispersing particle by means of mixing precursor and neutralized emulsion method. In the first step, polyurethane was preparated from isophorone diisocyanate and poly (ethylene-adipate) glycol, and got precursor by introducing dimethyl propionic acid as a hydrophilic group. Synthesized polyurethane was bonded to the surface of fiber and crosslinked as a anti-static agent, and then looked for the change of color and softening property.

  • In this study, the table flow of fiber reinforced cement composites mixed with CNTs dispersed differently according to the dispersion method was evaluated. The mixture was composed of plain mixture according to the presence or absence of ultrasonic dispersion and PCE-based dispersants A and B of 0.5% and 1.0%, respectively, CNT was mixed with 0.03% of cement weight and fiber was mixed with 1.5% of total volume. As a result of the experiment, NC-A0.5 showed a fluidity similar to that of P without CNT. The fluidity of NC-A0.5 and P-N showed a similar tendency, which is considered to be due to the distribution of evenly dispersed CNT particles without agglomeration between cement particles due to the dispersant. NC-B0.5 showed a similar level of firmness to P-U, but after hitting 250 mm, B Agent seems to have a significant effect on liquidity improvement.Both NC-A1.0 and NC-B1.0 seem to have increased flow due to excessive dispersion.

우리나라 토양(土壤)에 있어서 수종(數種) 분산제(分散劑)의 분산능(分散能)에 관(關)하여 (The Dispersion Capacity of Some Chemical Dispersing Agents in Korean Soils)

  • 우리나라 토양(土壤)의 입도분석(粒度分析)에 적합(適合)한 분산제(分散劑)를 선정(選定)하기 위하여 대표토양(代表土壤) 18점(点)에 대(對)한 표토(表土) 및 심토(深土)의 입도분석(粒度分析) 결과(結果)는 다음과 같다. 1. 토양입자(土壤粒子)가 작을수록 분산제별(分散劑別) 분산능력(分散能力)의 차이(差異)가 커지는 경향(傾向)으로 점토입자(粘土粒子)(<0.002mm)의 분석치(分析値)에 있어서 분산제(分散劑)에 따라 차이(差異)가 컸었다. 2. 분산율(分散率)은 Sodium Pyrophosphate가 가장 높고 다음으로 Sodium Hexametaphophate, Ammonium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Sodium Oxalate 순(順)이었다. 3. Sodium Hexametaphosphate는 Volcanic Ash Soil만을 제외(除外)하고 우리나라 모두 토양(土壤)의 입도분석(粒度分析)에 있어서 분산제(分散劑)로써 사용(使用)할 수 있을 것으로 본다. 4. Volcanic Ash Soil의 분산율(分散率)은 분산제(分散劑)를 사용(使用)하지 않은 경우보다 오히려 감소(減少)되는 경향(傾向)이 있으므로 이의 분산방법(分散方法)의 선정(選定)에는 특별(特別)한 주의(注意)가 요망(要望)된다.

Dispersion stability of polyelectrolyte-wrapped carbon black particles in a highly fluorinated solvent

  • The dielectric medium used in electrophoretic displays (EPDs) is required to be an environmentally friendly solvent with high density, low viscosity, and a large electric constant. Hydrofluoroether, a highly fluorinated solvent with eco-friendly characteristics, is regarded as a viable alternative medium for EPDs, owing to the similarity of its physical properties to those of the conventional EPD medium. Surface modification of particles is required, however, in order for it to disperse in the charged solvent. Also, positive/negative charges should be present on the particle surface to enable electrophoretic behavior. In this study, carbon black particles wrapped with positively charged nitrogen (N-CBs) were fabricated by a simple hydrothermal process using a poly(diallyldimethylammonium chloride) solution as a black coloring agent for the EPD. The dispersion behavior of N-CBs was investigated in various solvents.

  • 층상실리케이트 나노입자가 충진된 에폭시수지를 분산정도 향상을 위해 즉, 층상실리케이트 층간간경의 삽입과 박를 향상시키기 위해 분산제를 첨가하였고, 초음파 적용으로 분산시켰다. 그 결과 분산제 종류에따라 분산정도인 X-RD 특성이 서로다른 결과를 얻었다. 절연성능을 평가하기위해 단시간 절연파괴강도와 장시간 절연파괴특성인 트리시스템을 이용하여 절연파괴시간 및 측정하였다. 이와같은 결과에대한 통계적인 분석으로 Weibull plots를 이용하였고 그 결과 분산제가 첨가된 나노콤포지트의 기울기 파라미터인 $\beta$값의 결과로부터 나노콤포지트 우수성을 확인 할수있었다.

  • Both $Al_2O_3$ and AlN nanopowders with diameters from ${\mu}m$ to mm were bead-milled and surface-modified by stabilizing agent. The size of bead-milled nanoparticles compared with the primary powder was effectively decreased and was dependent on milling time and bead size. The results of dispersion stability analysis indicated that chemical bonding between nanoparticles and surfactant is more effective than chemical adsorption to prepare the stable transformer oils containing nanoparticles. In this study, the thermal conductivity of the transformer oils containing nanoparticles was measured by transient hot-wire and laser flash methods.

CNT Oil Sensor의 특성과 수율 향상 분석 (Quality and Yield Improvement Analysis of CNT Oil Sensor)

  • An engine oil sensor based on multiwall carbon nanotubes was fabricated with screen printing method. Since carbon nanotubes are generally intertwined, dispersion of the carbon nanotubes in the binding agent (ethyl cellulose, a-terpineol, frit) is a key factor for large yield of engine oil sensor. By conventional dispersion method, a hand-mill method, the maximum yield was 80% at most. However, we used the hand ultrasonic, in order to increase the yield of the sensors. As a results, our engine oil sensor fabricated by the screen printing method shows excellent yield rate of 97%, when we dispersed a paste by the hand ultrasonic method.
