  • In recent years, it is widely being issued to consider the Non-Utility Generation (NUG) in the public electric utility sector. The Non-Utility Generation can be divided into two major parts, i. e., dispersed generation and privatization. In the participation of the NUGs in the public sector, the economy of scale and publiciy of the NUGs should be considered. In this paper, we with give the present status of Non-Utility Generation and. problems caused by the dispersed generation and privatization. Also, the analysis of the problems of NUGs and future policies of the electric utility will be discussed.

  • This paper presents a method to improve reliability by dispersed generation (DG) installation considering load types and interruption cost. The objective functions such as power losses cost, operation cost of DGS, power buy cost and interruption cost are minimized for reliability improvement and efficient operation. The several indices for reliability evaluation are improved by dispersed generation system installation.

  • This paper presents the method for the placement and operation of dispersed generator systems(DGs) using fuzzy goal programming in distribution systems. For the placement and operation of DGs the problem is formulated with reduction of search spaces and flexibility of system situations. Especially, the original objective function and constraints are transformed by fuzzy goal programming to evaluate their imprecise nature for the criterion of power loss minimization, the number or total capacity of DGs and the bus voltage deviation, and then solve the problem using genetic algorithm.

  • This paper presents a fuzzy-GA method for the allocation and operation of dispersed generator systems(DGs) based on load model in composite distribution systems. Groups of each individual load model consist of residential, industrial, commercial, official and agricultural load. The problem formulation considers an objective to reduce power loss of distribution systems and the constraints such as the number or total capacity of DGs and the deviation of the bus voltage. The main idea of solving fuzzy goal programming is to transform the original objective function and constraints into the equivalent multi-objectives functions with fuzzy sets to evaluate their imprecise nature for the criterion of power loss minimization, the number or total capacity of DGs and the bus voltage deviation, and then solve the problem using genetic algorithm. The method proposed is applied to IEEE 12 bus and 33 bus test systems to demonstrate its effectiveness. .

  • It is known that the LDC(Line-Drop Compensator) becomes to lose the function of proper voltage regulation for its load currents due to the real and reactive power generated by DGS(Dispersed Generation System), when DGS is introduced into the power distribution system of which the voltage is controlled by LDC. Therefore, in that case, it is very difficult to regulate the distribution line voltage properly by using LDC. One possible solution for this problem is the real-time voltage regulation method which is to optimally regulate the sending-end voltage in real-time by collecting the real-time load data of each load data of each load section between measuring points and by calculating the optimal seding-end voltage value from them. For this, we must know the real-time load data of each load section. In this paper, a modeling method of representing a load section on high voltage line with DGSs as an equivalent lumped load is proposed for gaining the real-time load data. In addition a method of locating the measuring points is proposed. Then, these proposed methods are evaluated through computer simulations.

  • Recently, the operation of power systems has become more difficult because the peak demand load is increasing continuously and the daily load factor is getting worse and worse. Also, the consideration of deregulation and global environment in electric power industry is required. In order to overcome those problems, a study on the planning and operation in power systems of dispersed generating sources such as fuel cell systems, photovoltaic systems and wind power systems, has been performed energetically. This paper presents a method for determining an optimal operation strategy of dispersed co-generating sources, especially fuel cell generation systems, considering thermal supply as well as electric power supply. In other words, the optimal operation of those sources can be determined easily by the principle of equal incremental fuel cost and the thermal merit of those sources can be also evaluated quantitatively through Kuhn-Tucker's optimal conditions. In additions, an priority method using the comparison of total cost at the peak load time interval is presented in order ot select the optimal locations of those sources. The validity of the proposed algorithms is demonstrated using a model system.

  • Hydrogen generation by the hydrolysis of aqueous sodium borohydride $(NaBH_4)$ solutions was studied using IRA-400 anion resin dispersed Pt. Ru catalysts and Lithium Cobalt oxide $(LiCoO_2)$ supported Pt, Ru and PtRu catalysts. The performance of the $LiCoO_2$ supported catalysts is better than the ion exchange resin dispersed catalysts. There is a marked concentration dependence on the performance of the $LiCoO_2$ supported catalysts and the hydrogen generation rate goes down if the borohydride concentration is increased beyond $10\%$. The efficiency of PtRu- $LiCoO_2$ is almost double that of either Ru-$LiCoO_2$ or Pt-$LiCoO_2$ for $NaBH_4$ concentrations up to $10\%$.

  • In Korea, power requirement has been increasing. But the large generation unit is hardly installed because of economic and environment problem. Therefore, the concern of dispersed generation system(DGS) is growing. The power distribution system is generally operated with radial type. The protection system is composed of one directive source. But power distribution system inserted DGS changes it to two directive source system. Therefore, the insertion of DGS has the problem of protection coordination. In this paper, we argue fault current affected by interconnected DGS. We analyze fault current flow affected by DGS placement. Then, we find protective coordination problem. Consequently, we study advance point for protection scheme of power system interconnected DGS.

  • The photosensitive properties and spectroscopic characteristics in the organic photoconductor(OPC) with carrier generation layer(CGL) of poly(vinylbutyral)(PVB) and polycarbonate(PC) doped with titanyl phthalocyanine(TiOPc) were investigated. The change of crystal structure of TiOPc dispersed with PVB and PC was shown by UV-visible reflective spectrum and FT-IR spectrum and mainly caused by the difference of solubility of solvent and the interaction between TiOPc and binder. The particle size of TiOPc dispersed with PVB measured by SEM was smaller than in PC. The crystal structure of TiOPc dispersed with PVB was amorphous type and in PC was $\alpha$type. It was found that the photosensitive properties of OPC were dependent on the change of absorbance and ionization potential of TiOPc occurred from the difference of crystal structure. In this work, the photosensitivity of OPC of TiOPc dispersed with PVB was better than PC due to the crystal type and the smaller particle size.
