Communication Ocean Meteorological Satellite (COMS) for the hybrid mission of meteorological observation, ocean monitoring, and telecommunication service is planned to be launched onto Geostationary Earth Orbit in 2008. The meteorological payload of COMS is an imager which will monitor meteorological phenomenon around the Korean peninsular intensively and of Asian-side full Earth disk periodically. The meteorological imager (MI) of COMS has 5 spectral channels, I visible channel with the resolution of I km at nadir and 4 infrared channels with the resolution of 4 km at nadir. The characteristics of the COMS MI are introduced in the view points of user requirements, hardware characteristics, and operation features.

Electrical damages to critical parts in rotation machinery have caused may machinery failures and hours of costly downtime. The problem of shaft currents generated in non-electrical machines have puzzled both users and manufacturers of these machines. The main solution for preventing electro- magnetic type damage is to demagnetize all of the machinery parts, however this is costly and time consuming. Therefore a thorough investigation into the causes and physical characteristics of electro- magnetic shaft currents is needed. In this paper, the self excitation theory was developed for a simple model, and axial flux Faraday disk machine surrounded by a long solenoid. Experimental tests were conducted to investigate the physical characteristics on an electromagnetic self excitation rig. The theory showed that the directions of both the shaft rotation and the coil turns should e identical if self excitation is to occur. From the tests, the electromagnetic type shaft current had both AC and DC components occurred at all vibration frequencies. This could point to the way to detect small instabilities or natural frequency locations by monitoring shaft currents.
Communication Ocean Meteorological Satellite (COMS) is planned to be launched onto Geostationary Earth Orbit in 2008. The meteorological imager (MI) is one of COMS payloads and has 5 spectral channels to monitor meteorological phenomenon around the Korean peninsular intensively and of Asian-side full Earth disk periodically. The MI has on-board radiometric calibration capabilities called 'blackbody calibration' for infrared channels and 'space look' for infrared/visible channels, and radiometric response stability monitoring device called 'albedo monitor' for visible channel. Additionally the MI has on-board function called 'electrical calibration' for the check of imaging path electronics of both infrared and visible channels. The characterization of MI performance is performed to provide the pre-launch radiometric calibration data which will be used for in-orbit radiometric calibration with the on-board calibration outputs. The radiometric calibration of the COMS MI is introduced in the view point of instrument side in terms of in-orbit calibration devices and capabilities as well as the pre-launch calibration activities and expected outputs.

Microscopic examination for the morphological estimation of wear debris on the oil-lubrcated moving system is an accepted method for machine condition and fault diagnosis. However wear particle anaysis has not been widely accepted industry because it is dependent on expert interpretation of particle morphology and relies on subjective assessment criteria. This paper was undertaken to estimate the morphology of wear debris on the oil-lubricated movig system by computer image analysis. The wear test was performed under different sliding conditions using a wear test device made in our laboratory and wear testing specimen of the pin-on-disk-type was rubbed in pararline series base oil. In order to describe characteristics of debris of various shape and size, four shape parameters (50% volumetric diameter, aspect, roundness and reflectivity) have been developed and outlined in the paper. A system using such techniques promises to obviate the need for subjective, human interpretation of particle morphology in machine condition monitoring.

In this study, we aims to develop the machining technology for the ultra precision surface and profile accuracy. For this purpose, we construct the electrolytic in process grinding system (ELID grinding) and apply to the cylindrical and internal grinding. Through the various machining experiments such as SCM steel., ceramics, tungsten carbide etc., we have obtained nanometer surface roughness. And we have applied this mirror grinding technique to hydraulic manual valve and mold core of mini disk optical pick-up base. For the development of fine mechanical part machining technology, e have made multi fiber optical connector using fine grinding technology. And constructed micro drilling system with process monitoring system which is possible to drill 50${\mu}{\textrm}{m}$ diameter hole.

In this study, the highly sensitive $CaSO_4:Tm$-PTFE TLDs has been fabricated for the purpose of measurement of high energy electron. $CaSO_4:Tm$ phosphor powder was mixed with polytetrafluoroethylene(PTFE) powder and moulded in a disk type(diameter 8.5 mm. thickness $90\;mg/cm^2$) by cold pressing. The absorbed dose distribution and ranges for high energy electron were measured by using the $CaSO_4:Tm$-PTFE TLDs. The ranges determined were $R_{100}=14.5mm$, $R_{50}=24.1mm$ and $R_P=31.8mm$, respectively and the beam flatness, the variation of relative dose in 80% of the field size, was 4.5%. The fabricated $CaSO_4:Tm$-PTFE TLDs nay be utilized in radiation dosimetry for personal, absorbed dose and environmental monitoring.

We started a systematic observational study of the 22 GHz water and 44 GHz class I methanol masers in 87 high-mass young stellar objects (HM-YSOs) as a KaVA large program (LP). The primary goal is to understand dynamical evolution of HM-YSOs and their circumstellar structures by measuring spatial distributions and 3-dimensional velocity fields of multiple maser species. In the first-year observations (2016-2017), we made snap-shot imaging surveys of 25 water and 19 methanol maser sources. In the second-year observations (2018-2019), we have carried out monitoring observations of 19 water and 3 methanol maser sources that were selected on the basis of the first-year survey results. By combining follow-up observations with VERA (distances), JVN/EAVN (6.7 GHz methanol masers), and ALMA cycles 3 and 6 (thermal lines/continuum), we will provide novel information on physical properties (density, temperature, size, mass), 3D dynamical structures of disk/jet/outflow/infalling envelope, and relationship between evolutionary of HM-YSOs. In this presentation, we will report the current status and future plans of our KaVA large program.
