We chose Bessel beamu[$J_o(ar)}$)l in order to investigate image forming property of the optical system with combined filter of amplitude and phase(CFAP). This paper investigated numerically the influence of number of nodes of these beams on the PSF, encircled energy(E), transmission ratio(TR), gain((;) for an aberrated(1aberration-free) optical system. These results showed that the property of PSF differ considerably from the one of the existing amplitude filter and that Bessel beam has super compensating effect for an optical system with spherical aberration. Particularly, the Bessel beam has less the size of central spot than the radius of Airy disk, this result can therefore be applied to the fabrication of semiconductor device.
Which mechanism governs star-formation activity in galaxies is still one of the most important, open questions in galactic astronomy. To address this issue, we investigate the specific star formation rate (sSFR) of late-type galaxies as functions of various structural parameters including the morphology, mass, radius, and mass compactness (MC). We use a sample of ~200,000 late-type galaxies with z = 0.02 ~ 0.2 from SDSS DR7 and a catalog of bulge-disk decomposition (Simard et al. 2011; Mendel et al. 2013). We find a remarkably strong correlation between bulge's MC and galaxy's sSFR, in the sense that galaxies with more compact bulge tend to be of lower sSFR. This seems counter-intuitive given that galactic sSFR is driven predominantly by disks rather than bulges and suggests that the central mass density plays a key role in recent star-forming activity. We discuss the physical cause of the new findings in terms of the bulge growth history and AGN activities.
We studied recent evolution of M31 and M33 with star-forming regions and hot massive stars. We use GALEX far-UV and near-UV imaging to detect the star-forming regions and trace the recent star formation across the entire disk of galaxies. The GALEX imaging, combining deep sensitivity and entire coverage of these galaxies, provides a complete picture of the recent star formation in M31 and M33, and its variation with environment throughout these galaxies. We also show results from recent extensive surveys in M31 and M33 with Hubble Space Telescope multi-wavelength data including UV filters, which imaged several regions at a linear resolution of less than half a pc in these galaxies. Both datasets allow us to study the hierarchical structure of star formation: the youngest stellar groups are the most compact, and are often arranged withing broader, sparser structures. The derived recent star-formation rates are rather similar for the two galaxies, when scaled for the respective areas.
This paper discussed about the effect of Zoogloea ramigera on the initial microorganism attachment and the biofilm growth. The additions of 5, 10 and 15%(w/w) of Zoogoea ramigera were facilitated for the initial attachment on the surface of the acryl disk. At biofilm growth, the more Zoogoea ramikera added to the activated sludge, the more biofilm dry weight was obtained. In order to get the stable blofllm and to mlnlmlze the start-up periods, Initial biofilm formation using activated sludge with floe forming microorganisms like Zoogloea ramigera was recommended rather than that without floe forming microorganisms.
We examine the effect of environment on star formation activity of a sample of galaxy group catalogue given in Tempel et al.(2012) constructed from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey Data Release 8. In order to compare galaxies in different environment, we classify galaxies into two groups: galaxies in low density environment and galaxies in high density environment. After matching colors and apparent magnitudes of the galaxies, we are left with 5912 galaxies in each of the environment category. The fraction of star-forming galaxies in low-density environment is ~34%, higher than ~15% in high-density environment. Star-forming galaxies in low density environment have a higher average SFR value than those in high density environment. The bulge-to-disk ratio for galaxies in two different environment shows bimodal distribution. Regardless of the environment, we find galaxies with high star formation rate despite their red (g-r) color, for which the origin enhancing their star formation rate is investigated.
We present a comprehensive study of star-forming regions and young star clusters in M33. We use GALEX far-UV and near-UV imaging to detect these young stellar populations tracing recent star formation across the disk of M33. The GALEX imaging, combining deep sensitivity and entire coverage of the galaxy, provides a complete view of the recent star formation in M33 and its variation with environment throughout the galaxy. We discuss variation of various properties (e.g., age, mass, spatial distribution) of star-forming regions and young star clusters in M33 which allow to provide constraints of recent star formation history of this galaxy.
Aspicilia humida Lee is described as a new lichen-forming fungus from a wetland forest, South Korea. The new species is distinguishable from Aspicilia aquatica (Fr.) Körb., the most similar species, by the absence of prothallus, black disk without green color in water, olivebrown epihymenium, shorter hymenium, hymenium I + yellowish blue-green, wider paraphysial tips without a vivid pigment, smaller asci, smaller ascospores, and the presence of stictic acid. Molecular analyses employing internal transcribed spacer (ITS) and mitochondrial small subunit (mtSSU) sequences strongly support A. humida as a distinct species in the A. cinerea group. A surrogate key is provided to assist in the identification of all 28 aspicilioid species of Korea.
Sheet-forming of Mg alloys is conducted at elevated temperatures (250℃) due to the low formability at room temperature. The high-temperature process often gives rise to surface damage on the alloy (i.e. galling.) In the current study, the frictional characteristics of DLC coating slid against an AZ31 Mg alloy at various temperatures were investigated. The coating has been used widely for low-friction processes. Dry-sliding friction and galling characteristics of an AZ31 Mg alloy (disk), which slid against uncoated and a DLC-coated STD-61 steel (pin), were investigated using a reciprocating-sliding tribometer at room temperature and 250℃. To represent the real sliding phenomena during a sheet metal forming process, single-stroke tests were used (10mm stroke length) rather than a reciprocating long sliding-distance test. The DLC coating suppressed adhesion between the alloy and the tool steel at room temperature, and exhibited a low friction coefficient. However, during sliding at 250℃, severe adhesion occurred between the two surfaces, which resulted in a high friction coefficient and galling.
How high-mass stars form is currently unclear. Calculations suggest that the radiation pressure of a forming star can halt spherical infall, preventing further growth when it reaches $10M_{\odot}$. Two major theoretical models on the further growth of stellar mass have been proposed. One model suggests the merging of less massive stellar objects, and the other is through accretion, but with the help of a disk. Inflow motions are key evidence for how forming stars gain further mass to build up massive stars. Recent developments in technology have boosted the search for inflow motion. A number of high-mass collapse candidates were obtained with single dish observations, and mostly showed blue profiles. Infalling signatures seem to be more common in regions which have developed radiation pressure than in younger cores, which is the opposite of the theoretical prediction and is also very different from observations of low mass star formation. Interferometer studies so far confirm this tendency with more obvious blue profiles or inverse P Cygni profiles. Results seem to favor the accretion model. However, the evolution of the infall motion in massive star forming cores needs to be further explored. Direct evidence for monolithic or competitive collapse processes is still lacking. ALMA will enable us to probe more detail of the gravitional processes.

In this study, the effects of oxide layer formed on the contact parts of TiN coated ball and steel disk in sliding are investigated. Also wear mechanism to form the oxide layer and the characteristics of the oxide layer formation are investigated. AIS152100 steel ball is used for the substrate of coated ball specimens. Two types of coated ball specimens were prepared by depositing TiN coating with 1 and 4um in coating thickness. AISI1045 steel is used for the disk type counter-body. To investigate the effect of oxide layer on the contact parts of the two materials, the tests were performed both in ambient for forming oxide layer on the contact parts and in nitride environment to avoid oxidation. And to study the effects of surface roughness of counter-body, TiN coating thickness and contact load of sliding test on the characteristics of oxide layer formation on counter-body, various tests were carried out. From the results, the friction characteristics between the two materials was predominated by iron oxide layer that formed on wear track on counter-body and this layer caused the high friction. And the formation rate of the oxide layer on wear track increased as the real contact area between the two materials increased as the contact load increased, the TiN coating thickness decreased and the surface of counter-body smoothened.
