병원특성 변수에 경영성과 판별력에 관한 연구 : 우리나라 종합병원을 중심으로 (A Study on the Factors of Managerial Performance in General Hospitals)

  • This study purported to acquire information necessary to improve the management of general hospitals. It tried to determine major indices which represent managerial performance of general hospitals and to identify the managerial characteristics of general hospitals which affect the major financial indices. Eighty-eight hospitals were chosen from 188 hospitals which were subject to standardization audit by the Korean Hospital Association. The results of a discriminant analysis are summarized as followings. First, when a single index was used to measure managerial performance of the sample hospitals, the ration of net profit to total capital was the best index and its discriminant power was 58.14%. The ratio of the number of boardmen((M. D.) and average daily medical cost were highly related to this index. Second, when two indices were used, income growth rte and the ration of net profit to total capital had the highest discriminant distinction ability. Their discriminant power was 61.9%. In this case, the ratio of the number of boardmen(M. D.) was significantly and highly related to the indices. Third, when all three indices-income growth rate, the ration of net profit to total capital and quick ratio - were used together, a discriminant function was statistically insignificant. Therefore, using all three indices was not useful in measuring managerial performance of the sample hospitals. In conclusion, using two indices-income growth rate and the ration of net profit to total capital-was better in measuring manegerial performance of general hospitals than using a single index. The independent variable which affected these indices was the ration of the number of boardmen. The discriminant function was : $D_{GI}=2.77+4.832\times(the ratio of the number of boardmen)$ *G=growth index(income growth rate) *I=profit index(the ration of net profit to total capital)

The Characteristics of Risk Factors in Korean CAD Patients Comparing to American Counterpart and Its Implications to Prevention of CAD

  • PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to understand the difference in the risk factors of coronary artery disease (CAD) between Korean and American CAD patients to determine the discriminant factor for each group, as well as to provide useful information to be reflected in the national concern of health. METHODS: Data were collected from 248 Korean and 107 American CAD patients who underwent either percutaneous coronary intervention or coronary artery bypass grafting. By using t-test and $X^2$-test, risk factors were compared between the Koreans and Americans. To elucidate which risk factor was the most discriminant for each group, logistic regression analysis was performed. RESULTS: All risk factors, except diastolic blood pressure, showed a significant difference between the two groups. $X^2$-test showed statistical significance with respect to the smoking rate between the female groups. Moreover, there was a statistically significant difference between the two groups regarding blood total cholesterol (TC) and triglyceride, and between the male groups, here was a statistically significant difference with respect to blood high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL). Diabetes mellitus (DM) was the most discriminant factor for Korean patients while TC/HDL is the most discriminant for the Americans. CONCLUSION: The characteristics of CAD risk factors were determined to be different between Koreans and Americans in this study. TC/HDL was a discriminant factor for Americans while DM was a discriminant factor for Koreans. This result implies that DM should primarily be given attention to prevent CAD in Korean adults.

Discrimination of Spinal Deformity Employing Discriminant Analysis on the $Moir\acute{e}$ Images

  • In this paper, we propose a technique for automatic spinal deformity detection from $moir\acute{e}$ topographic images. Normally the $moir\acute{e}$ stripes show symmetry as a human body is almost symmetric. According to the progress of the deformity of a spine, asymmetry becomes larger. Numerical representation of the degree of asymmetry is therefore useful in evaluating the deformity. First, displacement of local centroids and difference of gray values are evaluated statistically between the left- and the right-hand side regions of the $moir\acute{e}$ images with respect to the extracted middle line. We classify the moire images into two categories i.e., normal and abnormal cases from the features, employing discriminant analysis. An experiment was performed employing 1,200 $moir\acute{e}$ images and 85% of the images were classified correctly.

  • This study was to find out variables influenced on the medication patterns (voluntary medication, in-voluntary medication) of antipsychotics taken by schizophrenic outpatients. Purposes of this study were to be identified that there was the significant difference between the group of voluntary medication and involuntary, and that which variables had infuence on outpsychotics medication. The sample consisted of 30 patients takeing their pills voluntary (voluntary medication group), and 15 patients involuntary(involuntary medication group) at a psychiatry hospital and a psychiatric unit of a The findings of the study are as follows : university hospital in Daegu. Data were collected from September to October, 1991 through interview using questionare about antipsychotics medication. Data were analyzed by the technique of two group discriminant function analysis using SPSS pc$^{+}$ 1) Discriminant function discriminating between voluntary medication and involuntary medication was significant at the level of 10% significance (sig.=.055, p〈.10) Hit-ratio was very high (91. 1%) 2) One of General variables, SEX, was significant of discriminating between two medication patterns at the level of 10% significance. 3) One of Family Environmental Variables, BROTH(a number of brother), were significant between two medication patterns. (p〈.10) 4) One of Therapeutic Environmental Variables, FAMHX, was significant between two medication patterns at the level of 10% significance. 5) One of Variables Related to Drug and Medication, NECESS, was significant between two medication patterns. 2007년 한국프로야구에서 도루성공모형 (Steal Success Model for 2007 Korean Professional Baseball Games)

  • 야구경기의 승패에 영향을 미치는 중요한 요인으로 간주되는 도루의 성공모형을 개발하기 위하여 2007년 한국프로야구 기록자료를 바탕으로 로지스틱 회귀모형들을 제안한다. 또한 한국프로야구의 도루성공과 실패에 대해 판별분석을 실시하고 분류 기준값을 결정하였으며, 판별분석 분류표를 이용해 로지스틱 회귀분석과 판별분석의 효율성을 비교한다. 전체적인 모형의 정확도는 로지스틱 회귀모형이 판별분석보다 더 좋은 것으로 나타났고, 연속형 자료를 범주형으로 변환한 자료에 대한 로지스틱 회귀모형도 유사한 효율성을 갖고있다.

남녀 중.고등학생의 자살시도 예측요인 (Factors on the Suicidal Attempt by Gender of Middle and High School Student)

  • Purpose: The suicide rate of adolescents in Korea is increasing annually. Therefore, this research was done to identify the suicide attempt rate of middle and high school students and to identify factors that influence suicidal attempts. Methods: The Korea Youth Health Risk Behavior Web-based Survey (2007) was used as data. Discriminant analysis and logistic regression were performed to analyze the data depending on gender to consider the gender difference in assessing the influence of each independent variable on suicidal attempts. Results: Discriminant analysis according on gender showed that 13 factors correlated with suicidal attempts for boys, and 20 factors for girls. The most highly correlated factors were smoking, depression and inhalation experience. For inhalation experience, boys had 2.7 times higher possibility of suicide attempts (95% CI 1.8-3.0) and girls, a 2.4 times higher possibility (95% CI 1.7-3.5). Conclusion: The results of the study indicate a need to classify adolescents for expectation of suicide risk and high danger for suicidal attempts through, and introduce suicide prevention programs for these adolescents. In particular, it is necessary to start intervention with students who smoke, have sexual and inhalation experiences and high levels of depression.

스트리밍 데이터에 대한 최소제곱오차해를 통한 점층적 선형 판별 분석 기법 (Incremental Linear Discriminant Analysis for Streaming Data Using the Minimum Squared Error Solution)

  • 시간에 따라 순차적으로 들어오는 스트리밍 데이터에서는 전체 데이터 셋을 한꺼번에 모두 이용하는 배치 학습에 기반한 차원축소 기법을 적용하기 어렵다. 따라서 스트리밍 데이터에 적용하기 위한 점층적 차원 감소 방법이 연구되어왔다. 이 논문에서는 최소제곱오차해를 통한 점층적 선형 판별 분석법을 제안한다. 제안 방법은 분산행렬을 직접 구하지 않고 새로 들어오는 샘플의 정보를 이용하여 차원 축소를 위한 사영 방향을 점층적으로 업데이트한다. 실험 결과는 이전에 제안된 점층적 차원축소 알고리즘과 비교하여 이 논문에서 제안한 방법이 더 효과적인 방법임을 입증한다.

  • A multispectral imaging system with selected wavelength optical filter was demonstrated feasible for food safety inspection. Intensified multispectral images of carcasses were obtained with visible/near-infrared optical filters(542-847 nm wavelengths) and analyzed. The analysis of textural features based on co-occurrence matrices was conducted to determine the feasibility of a multispectral image analyses for discriminating unwholesome poultry carcasses from wholesome carcasses. The mean angular second moment of the wholesome carcasses scanned at 542 nm wavelength was lower than that of septicemic (P$\leq$0.0005) and cadaver(P$\leq$0.0005) carcasses. On the other hand, for the carcasses scanned at 700nm wavelength , the feature values of septicemic and cadaver carcasses were significantly (P$\leq$0.0005) different from wholesome carcasses. The discriminant functions for classifying poultry carcasses into three classes (wholesome, septicemic , cadaver) were developed using linear and quadr tic covariance matrix analysis method. The accuracy of the quadratic discriminant models, expressed in rates of correct classification, were over 90% for the classification of wholesome, septicemic, and cadaver carcasses when textural features from the spectral images scanned at the wavelength of 542 and 700nm were utilized.

특용작물의 산지판별을 위한 전자코 응용 (Application of Electronic Nose in Discrimination of the Habitat for Special Agricultural Products)

  • 영지, 참깨, 칡과 같은 특용작물의 수입산 또는 국내산인지의 여부를 확인하기 위하여 전자코를 사용하였다. 특용작물이 배출하는 가스성분을 아무런 전처리 과정 없이 12개의 conducting polymer sensor로 감지하고 여기서 얻어진 자료를 판별분석을 통하여 특용작물의 원산지가 수입산 또는 국내산인지를 판별할 수 있었다. 원산지를 모르는 시료(영지, 참깨)를 분석한 결과 이들 농산물이 수입산인지 국내산인지를 뚜렷하게 구별할 수 있었다.
