A Study on Parenting in Books for Domestic Life Education of the Chosen Dynasty period-Focusing on Parental Role of Disciplining Children- (조양시대 교훈서에 나타난 부모역할에 관한 연구)

  • The purpose of this study is to understand the parent's social cognition about disciplines in the context of korean culture by analyzing and interpretating theories of discipline and conceptions of parental role in disciplining children presented in the books for domestic life educatio of the chosen Dynasty period. The method used for this study is the historical method and the literatures of analysis are Naihun, Gyubeomseonyoung, Sasojol, Jongbo-Salimgyoungjai, Hahagjinam. Accoding to analysis, the disciplinary theory for children had the basis on the ideas that children learned through everyday expieriences and observation of surounding events, and that crytical periods of learning were at the early childhood. And parents assumed the responsibility for disciplining their children. Also the Chosen Dynasty period had the conceptions that parents had rigorous quality as well as warm-hearted toward their children and teached honor, modesty, plainess and industry.

  • Independence and impartiality are the operating core of an arbitration disciplinary mechanism. Due to many factors, illegalities and improper acts in arbitration cases are facts of life in our country, and have greatly damaged the credibility of arbitration. It is necessary for us to perfect the operating mechanism of arbitration discipline from the four pluralistic progressive aspects of disciplining the cause externalization, disciplining the subject duality, the quasi-judicature of disciplinary procedures and the disciplining measures so that the populace can experience fairness and justice in every case. We should perfect the supporting measures such as the strict selection conditions and procedures of arbitrators, improving the quality of the arbitrator team, exploring the management mechanisms and strengthening the evaluation dynamic. An examination is a general investigation and evaluation so as to provide encouragement for being continually engaged as arbitrators, but it does not provide an objective basis of arbitration discipline. It is urgent to perfect the arbitration guarantee system on the basis of meeting the material needs of the arbitrators so as to enhance the sense of professional rank and honour of arbitration.

Content Analysis of Mother's Role in Korean Biographies (우리나라 위인전에 나타난 어머니 역할 내용분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate the mother' role appeared in Korean biographies. The method used for this study was the content analysis of the context related with mothering in Korean biographies. The categories for content analysis were pregnancy-delivery, nurturing, teaching, disciplining, interfacing between home and social institutions and counselling. It was found that the most frequent mother' role appeared in Korean biographies was nurturing role such as to care development, health and hygiene of children. And the second frequent mother's role in Korean biographies was disciplining role such as to internalization of social roles. The third role was teaching. These results have been discussed in the light of former studies, and the limits of study method also have been discussed.

  • The purpose of this study is to explore practices of the child rearing in the late period of the Goryo Dynasty. This study was using the historical method and the materials for analysis were the literatures written from the late thirteenth century to the fourteenth century in Goryo Dynasty, such as 'the Ikjaijip'(익재집), 'Mokeunjip'(목은집), 'Yangchonjip'(양촌집). According to the results, parents, grandparents, maternal grandmother, and an elder sister played important roles in child-rearing. And parenting roles were expected to give their children affections and consistent disciplines. In terms of sustenance for children, children were provided with boiled rice as principal food and seasonal fruit and rice cake as snacks. In housing habits, children, especially boys, shared the same room with their grandfather. And children were assured of physical safety and psychological protection through cultural practices, such as taboo, prayers, humble naming, first birthday celebration, and dreams of forthcoming conception. Finally, disciplining of children was focused on studies for Confucianism and shaping basic habits for cultivation of mind.

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze relating with Faucult's disciplinary power which factors influence a dancer's self-management (weight control)Total 10 ballet major undergraduate students of two respective universities in Seoul and Daijon were selected for the research and the chosen method was an interview with them. After the researchers analyzed the interview result, they found out the following several significant results. The first reason that major ballet dancers control their weight is to show their beautiful figures on the stage and to make their appearances look slender in the mirror. Dancers adapt various methods for effective weight management (diet control) such as dietary control, 1 food intake (potatoes, bananas, grapes, etc), physical force to advise or ingest (injection, taking medicines, reflexology, vomiting, etc.) Then, what is the hidden vision that makes such a practice of weight control maintain? The study presents a "mirror" as a tool of control playing a significant role, in terms that the power of discipline functions automatically in a dancer's body. In addition, another constant factor of dancers' weight management is monitoring each other's performance continuously, which is called "synopticon" Symptoms. Lastly, the fact that a question about placing a ruler could function in the continuous practice was also revealed.

A Study on the Foreign Ownership and Firm Value of ICT Companies in KOSDAQ Market (ICT기업의 외국인지분율과 기업가치에 관한 연구)

  • This is a study on the relationships between foreign ownership and the firm value of Korean-listed ICT companies in the KOSDAQ market. The data based on 752 firm-year observations during the sample period from 2001 to 2018 was utilized to analyze the impact of foreign ownership in terms of the firm value. As a result of this analysis, more foreign ownership has positive effects on the firm value. An analysis of the effects of the interaction between foreign ownership and the debt ratio on the firm's value found that the interaction between foreign ownership and debt ratio had a positive effect on the firm's value. On the other hand, this interaction effect was less significant than the relationship between foreign ownership and the firm value. This is because foreign investors are already performing the role of monitoring and disciplining the use of debt to some extent. Therefore, the interaction effect was relatively small.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate parental beliefs about child development in the context of Korean culture by analyzing and interpreting normative expectations of the age in disciplining children as presented in books for domestic life education of the $Chos{\breve{o}}n$ Dynasty period. The method used for this study was the historical method. The literature used for analysis was the Naihun, Gyubeomseonyoung, Sasojol, Jongbo-Salimgyoungjai, and Hahagjinam. According to the analysis, the discipline of children began from the age of three. The selection of the age of three was based on the observation that 3-year-olds begin to have an understanding of events in their world. From 3 to 10, socialization of the $Chos{\breve{o}}n$ Dynasty period gave prominance to social competency in interrelationships, especially honor of elders, modesty and sex role typing.

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the ideas about childrearing represented on the cyber space. The method used for this study is the content analysis and the data are articles about child rearing on the Hitel bulletin board during 1 year. It was found that then articles dealt with problems of practices in the teaching, nurturing, interfacing between home and social institutions, and disciplining. Especially these articles put great emphasis on teaching. For example, there are many articles about children's cognitive development. And there are many articles about nurturing. Especially child's emotional care. Many articles about interfacing between home and social institutions are appeared. In early childhood, many child go to nursery center. So from these results, we might conclude that many mothers gave their children emotional care. And they didn't teach their children directly. Instead they bought many educational instrument.

  • This study compared male and female university students' perceptions of parenthood and their need for pre-parental educational program. Responses of 579 university students in 5 universities were collected using a questionnaire developed by the researchers. Data were analyzed using a T-test and Pearson's chi squared test. Results showed that (1) systematic and pre-parental education may increase opportunities for university students to prepare parent and child rearing skills. (2) Any pre-parent educational program developed should cover practical and such as communication skills, child-rearing techniques and ways of disciplining children. In this way an educational program could provide university students suitable guidance and give them a positive and proper attitude toward parenting should they become parents in the future.

Content Analysis of Korean-American Women's School-aged Child Rearing on Internet Community (재미 한인 여성의 인터넷 커뮤니티에 나타난 학령기 아동양육에 관한 내용 분석)

  • The purpose of this study was to explore the ideas about Korean-American mother's school-age child rearing that are represented on internet community. The method used for this study was content analysis and the data consisted of articles about Korean-American mother's school-age child rearing on a internet community bulletin board during 1 year in 2008. It was found that these articles dealt with problems of practice in interfacing between home and social institutions(Especially school), teaching, counseling, nurturing and disciplining. For example, 831 articles put great emphasis on interfacing between home and social institutions, 339 on teaching, 268 on counseling with children. From these results, we might conclude that many Korean-American mothers gave their children school related care.
