  • An Uninterruptible Power Supply(UPS) is a system designed to deliver energy during accidents that the AC mains is out of its acceptable limits, without interruption of power flow through the load. Battery Discharger is the device to supply high quality power to the Inverter, when accidents occur, such as Power Failure. The Battery Discharger should have a fast response characteristics. The LLC resonant converter for UPS battery discharger is proposed. The proposed Battery Discharger offers substantial improvements in efficiency, size and cost. The proposed Battery Discharger of UPS approach is a good solution for high power applications above KW. To verify the validity of proposed Battery Discharger, simulations and experiments are carried out.

  • Sludge discharger applied the principle of the air lift pump was investigated experimentally for the different design( diameter of discharge pipe, diameter and height of the inside and outside wall) and operating parameters(air flow rate, water level). And it was conducted that performance comparison about sludge discharger and conventional air lift pump. The result indicated that discharged liquid were increased with the increase of air flow rate and water level and decrease distance between inside and outside wall. The discharge pressure was increased with an increase of air flow rate and a decrease of the diameter of the discharge pipe, for both the sludge discharger and the airlift pump. The discharge pressures of the sludge discharger were 3-6 times higher than those of the air lift pump.

  • A novel integrated battery charger/discharger converter for a standardized battery module is proposed. Instead of using separate charger and discharger converters. it integrates these two converters into a single converter in order to minimize the size. the integrated charger/discharger converter not only regulates the solar array output power including the peak power tracking capability but also controls the battery charging/discharging current depending on the solar array output power and the load power. In addition it offers a regulated bus voltage which simplifies the power distribution/conversion for the pay load.

  • This paper proposes a new secondary battery charger/discharger available for zero voltage discharge which is used for test equipments and formation process. The proposed system is a switching type converter, and thus the system is high efficiency and more compact as compared with linear type charger/discharger. Conventional switching type charger/discharger can not discharge secondary batteries to zero voltage because of voltage drops in the switching elements and long distributing line(typically 10m). However, the proposed system is able to discharge the battery to zero voltage in constant current mode regardless of the voltage drops. In this paper, we analyze the proposed charger/discharger and the validity of the system is verified by simulation and experiment.

Development of a Controller for Variable-rate Application of Granular Fertilizer (입제 비료의 변량 살포를 위한 제어기 개발)

  • This study was conducted to design and fabricate a controller for variable-rate application of granular fertilizer based on physical and chemical information, to analyze the performance of the controller and characteristics of a discharger. The result of the study are summarized as follows: 1. The charge ratios of discharger by accumulation heights of fertilizer in hopper were examined, and the variations in charge ratio were $72.58{\sim}93.33%$ and $63.14{\sim}94.42%$ for the fertilizers Super 21 and Sinsedae, respectively. The charge ratio also decreased as the rotational speed of discharger increased. 2. The coefficient of variation of discharge amount by rotational speed and discharge time of discharger were in the range of $2.94{\sim}11.23%$ and $2.82{\sim}10.80%$ for the fertilizer of Super 21 and Sinsedae. Except the rotational speed of 12 rpm, the coefficient of variation for discharge amount were relatively small with 4% more or less 3. In order to evaluate the rotational speed of discharger, the control signal in the range of $0{\sim}5V$ was subdivided into the 50 steps by 0.1V. The regression equation for the rotational speed of discharger was Y=55.984X-79.174(X: input voltage, V, Y: discharger speed, RPM) and the $R^2$ was 0.99. 4. In order to evaluate the performance of the controller for variable-rate application of granular fertilizer, settling time to unit step input was examined. The settling time varied from 0.8sec to 1.4 sec.

Research on status and characteristics of wastewater discharger cost in Local Government (국내 기초자치단체 하수도 원인자부담금 현황 및 특성 분석 연구)

  • The sewage system was continuously distributed as a concept of public service and protection for water system such as wet-land, resulting in deterioration of the management of sewage management institutions. Accordingly, under the leadership of the central government, various sewage policies are being promoted to streamline the management of sewage management institutions. The main points were related to costs, and typical characteristics include wastewater cost and wastewater discharger cost. In this research, the current status and characteristics of the wastewater discharger cost of 71 local governments in Korea were analyzed. As a result, 41 places (57%) were found to be less than 1,000,000 won/m3 to 2,000,000 won/m3, with an average was 1,990,653 won/m3 (median was 1,918,000 won/m3). In addition, the rate of wastewater discharger cost was increased when the wastewater discharger cost was higher stage. The influential parameters of local governments, which were relatively correlated with the wastewater discharger cost, were analyzed as the rate of recovering wastewater cost and financial independence rate. The results of this research could be used as basic data for wastewater discharger cost, and future researches are needed on how to calculate the appropriate level of wastewater discharger cost.

  • In this paper, a control method of ozone generator for a tiny deodorizer is proposed, and also a cooling technique is described which is cooling down the flowing air gap into a silent discharger to $2[^{\circ}C]$ to generate ozone of high density and diffusing power. As the digital control system for this method, a double feedback loop is designed which detects the voltage and current of equivalent capacitor of the discharger and compensates for the poor power waveform caused by the noise at high discharging frequency. During the plant modeling of this system, computing time factor is considered as a unique parameter of the power system to improve the respond characteristics with regard to fluctuating load and to replenish the computing time delay of the controller. Through the experiment, sinusoidal input current for discharger can be acquired and all the effectiveness of this accurate control system over unstable ozone discharger are proved.

Characteristics of NOx removal depends on NO conversion to NO$_2$and/or HNO$_3$due to high activation energies for NO oxidation and reduction. NOx removal efficiency by using three-way catalytic with plasma discharger indicated about 50% at 40watt power consumption condition.
