The method of mass flow rate measurement using a critical nozzle is well established in the flow satisfying ideal gas law. However, in the case of measuring high-pressure gas flow, the current method shows invalid discharge coefficient because the flow does not follow ideal gas law. Therefore an appropriate equation of state considering real gas effects should be applied into the method. The present computational study has been performed to give an understanding of the physics of a critical nozzle flow for high-pressure hydrogen gas and find a way for the exact mass flow prediction. The two-dimensional, axisymmetric, compressible Navier-Stokes equations are computed using a fully implicit finite volume method. The real gas effects are considered in the calculation of discharge coefficient as well as in the computation. The computational results are compared with the previous experimental data and predict well the measured mass flow rates. It has been found that the discharge coefficient for high-pressure hydrogen gas can be corrected properly adopting the real gas effects.
Secondary ion mass spectrometry(SIMS) and glow discharge mass spectrometry(GDMS) were used to determine the impurity concentrations of hydrogen, carbon, and oxygen elements in the Cu and Ta films, and the results of SIMS and GDMS analysis were carefully considered. The Cu and Ta films were deposited on Si (100) substrates at zero substrate bias voltage and a substrate bias voltage of -50 V(Cu films) or -125 V(Ta films) using a non-mass separated ion beam deposition method. As a result of SIMS with Cs+ ion beam, in the case of the Cu and Ta films deposited without the substrate bias voltage, many strong peaks were observed, which is considered to be detected as a the cluster state such as CxHx, OxHx, CxOxHx. All the peaks of SIMS results could be interpreted by the combination of these dominant impurities. Moreover, it was confirmed that the quantitative results of GDMS analysis were accordant to the SIMS results.
Inside of working PDP, there exist highly reactive conditions in the gap between two glass panels. MgO film and phosphor have been investigated as a function of discharge, also phosphor and sealing frits have been investigated as a function of temperature. Changes of impurity generation of MgO, phosphor and sealing fits were measured by using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) and quadropole mass spectroscopy (XPS) and quadropole mass spectrometer (QMS). Impurities such as CO, $CO_2$, OH and $H_2O$ were increased during discharge and heating treatment. Gaseous impurities such as carbon compounds and water deteriorated the characteristics of PDP operation during of lifetime. So metal is used to remove the impurities of phosphor and sealing frits during hearting, the result that the quantity of the impurities such as carbon monoxide and water was reduced.
In this study, three dimensional and two dimensional laboratory experiments were conducted to investigate the effect of water table rising on DNAPL migration, contaminants mass discharge ($M_d$), and residual NAPL distribution. The accumulation of TCE in unsaturated zone was observed in both two and three dimensional experiments. This implies DNAPL sources could exist in unsaturated zone at contaminated sites. It has been investigated that the TCE concentration is proportional to the areal ratio of residual TCE. This means the residual TCE obviously could affect the TCE concentration in aquifer system. The results of the two-dimensional experiment indicated that the contaminant sources in unsaturated zone could lead the $M_d$ increasing with water table rising and the source zone heterogeneity could also highly affect the $M_d$.

Water droplet ejection characteristics of a point-to-plate airgap, with a wet porous point as a corona electrode, has been investigated. And the water droplet traces, charge, mass and number were measured experimentally. More particles are observed with wet porous point than metal point because the corona-discharging wet porous point can eject a number of water droplets. The water droplets ejected from the positive-corona-discharging wet porous point showed very fine traces as compared with those from the negative-corona-discharging wet porous point. Moreover, the water droplets ejected from the AC-corona-discharging wet porous point showed granular-like larger traces. It was shown that the weak corona discharge can eject smaller water droplets with larger ratio of mass-to-charge than the intense corona discharge.

For a discharge system of rotary compressor, analytical investigation on the discharge gas pulsation has been carried out. With the aid of four pole theory, acoustic impedance of the discharge system composed of muffler and cavities on both sides of motor with gas passages between them can be calculated using discrete acoustic elements described by transfer matrices, yielding the relationship between discharge mass flow rate and gas pulsation at the discharge port. This method of predicting the gas pulsation was validated by measurement data. Effects of change in discharge muffler geometries on the gas pulsation also were investigated, demonstrating that this method can be used for muffler design.
A Griemm type Glow Discharge cell is attached to a commercial quadrapole based ICP-MS and used for the analysis of surface analysis. By employing 2.0mm diameter, mode and proper experimental conditions, several layers of few ${\mu}m$ thickness are analysed within 30 minutes. Multi-layers of Cu-Ni, Fe-Ni are analyzed with the resolution of 10nm by GDMS. Proper experimental conditions make a flat bottom crater shape and good resolution for multi-layer depth profile study.

Fiber Dyeing and Finishing facility has been recognized as an important pollution source due to its consumption of large volumes of water and chemicals. Unit mass discharge for the conventional water quality parameters such as flowrate, SS, $BOD_5,\;COD_{Mn},\;COD_{Cr}$, TN, TP were estimated. To represent the respective industries, three companies were carefully selected based on its manufacturing goods, flowrate and location at various unit operations and processes. More than 90% of decrease in unit mass estimation between influent and effluent of BOD was observed. But the values themselves were similar to those of Fiber Manufacturing facility due to the high loadings of organic matter. Biodegradability of influent was almost three times higher than that of effluent. Unit mass discharge estimations of unit process (estimated in this study) based on space, products and raw material were similar to those of composite process (estimated by National Institute of Environmental Research), while big difference was observed in the other factors. Unit mass discharge factors calculated in this study can be used as the reference for the estimation of water pollution loading costs in Nakdong river basin. For the effective water pollution control and management, it is essential to characterize the various types of water quality parameters from the effluents of individual industrial wastewater treatment plants.
PDP use the mixture of inert gases to generate a discharge inside display pixels. Inside of PDP, there exist highly reactive conditions in the gap between two glass panels. MgO layer and phosphor have been investigated as a function of discharge and thermal process. Impurities such as CO, $CO_2$, OH and $H_2O$ in discharge region may deteriorate the characteristics of PDP operation during life time. Change of impurity generation of various MgO and phosphor surfaces were measured by using x-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) and quadropole mass spectrometer (QMS). Carbon containing species such as C, CO and $CO_2$ were drastically increased on the surfaces during discharge and thermal treatment. Carbon impurities on the MgO and phosphor are the dominant factor for their instability.
Two stage startup of high thrust liquid rocket engine can reduce the abrupt impulse to the vehicle and engine by changing oxidizer flow rate to the combustion chamber. Also it ensures stable ignition of combustion chamber against hard start and to prevent pump stall by the sudden supply of large mass flow rate. However high discharge pressure of oxidizer pump or temperature rise in gas generator may be a problem in applying the preliminary stage. To solve this problem, we analyzed the effect of the slope of oxidizer pump's head curve and the oxidizer mass flow rate to combustion chamber during preliminary stage using the rocket engine startup analysis code. A moderate slope(${\circleddash}{\sim}$-3) of head curve and 80% mass flow rate during preliminary stage can reduce the oxidizer pump discharge pressure by 15 to 20% comparing with the condition of ${\circleddash}$=-4.37 head curve and 70% mass flow rate. Also it can maintain the turbine inlet temperature rise within 50K from the nominal value.
