  • Despite the automatic fire alarm system, according to the national fire data system of national emergency management agency, the fires account for 40,932 incidents, 2,184 injuries and about 430 billion won in property losses in 2013. Since the conventional automatic fire alarm system has several weaknesses related to electrical signal such as noise, surge, lighting, etc. Most fires are mainly caused by electrical faults, mechanical problem, chemical, carelessness and natural. The electrical faults such as line to ground fault, line to line fault, electrical leakage and arc are one of the major problems in fire. This paper describes the development of a novel real-time fire monitoring system algorithm including fault detection function which puts the existing optic smoke and heat detectors for fire detection with current and voltage sensors in order to utility fault monitoring using high accuracy DAQ measurement system with LabVIEW program. The fire detection and electrical fault monitoring with a proposed a new detection algorithm are implemented under several test. The fire detection and monitoring system operates according to the proposed algorithm well.

  • In this paper, we were proposed an on-site smart integrated monitoring system for securing an independent network infrastructure (wireless communication, image transmission and site situation detection) in disaster area. The proposed system was designed not only for the entire structure of the disaster safety communication network but also for the effective exchange of information between the field crew team and the field command and control center at the disaster site. Also, the proposed Smart Integrated Monitoring System supports wireless communication between field crews at the disaster site and supports communication with the drone to collect disaster scene video information. Therefore, the on-site smart integrated monitoring system enables to obtain the complete image of the surrounding area in case of a disaster and to efficiently command the field crew.

  • Recently, many structural damage detection (SDD) methods have been proposed to monitor the safety of structures. As an important modal parameter, mode shape has been widely used in SDD, and the difference of vectors was adopted based on sensitivity analysis and mode shapes in the existing studies. However, amplitudes of mode shapes in different measured points are relative values. Therefore, the difference of mode shapes will be influenced by their amplitudes, and the SDD results may be inaccurate. Focus on this deficiency, a multi-strategy SDD method is proposed based on the included angle of vectors and sparse regularization in this study. Firstly, inspired by modal assurance criterion (MAC), a relationship between mode shapes and changes in damage coefficients is established based on the included angle of vectors. Then, frequencies are introduced for multi-strategy SDD by a weighted coefficient. Meanwhile, sparse regularization is applied to improve the ill-posedness of the SDD problem. As a result, a novel convex optimization problem is proposed for effective SDD. To evaluate the effectiveness of the proposed method, numerical simulations in a planar truss and experimental studies in a six-story aluminum alloy frame in laboratory are conducted. The identified results indicate that the proposed method can effectively reduce the influence of noises, and it has good ability in locating structural damages and quantifying damage degrees.

  • This paper is an experimental study on the improvement of smoke and flame detection from different materials with YOLO. For the study, images of fires occurring in various materials were collected through an open dataset, and experiments were conducted by changing the main factors affecting the performance of the fire object detection model, such as the bounding box, polygon, and data augmentation of the collected image open dataset during data preprocessing. To evaluate the model performance, we calculated the values of precision, recall, F1Score, mAP, and FPS for each condition, and compared the performance of each model based on these values. We also analyzed the changes in model performance due to the data preprocessing method to derive the conditions that have the greatest impact on improving the performance of the fire object detection model. The experimental results showed that for the fire object detection model using the YOLOv5s6.0 model, data augmentation that can change the color of the flame, such as saturation, brightness, and exposure, is most effective in improving the performance of the fire object detection model. The real-time fire object detection model developed in this study can be applied to equipment such as existing CCTV, and it is believed that it can contribute to minimizing fire damage by enabling early detection of fires occurring in various materials.

  • This paper is concerned with the Performance and Reliability Certification for fire detection system in outdoor area such small and middle sized cultural assets, natural monument and outdoor facilities. Especially, if a fire were to occur in vulnerable area, it is difficulty to detect a fire. therefore we propose a high efficiency and low cost unmanned fire detection system in capable of an early detection regardless spontaneously fire or firebug. for Adoption of Intelligent Fire Detection System with movable and unmanned function breaking from the existing Conventional Fire Detection System, this Range of R&D includes the Performance test, Function test, Field test, Flame Detection test and EMI/EMS Compliance test. the Result data of Performance test, Function test and Field test is generally good during 3 months. also we checked that thermal variation test and EMI/EMS compliance test are good result data within allowable range. As a result of general test, we verified improvement results that the measure distance of fire detection extend 75 m, the Power of waiting time increase 4 hours, the Power of operation time increase 3 days and the context awareness with video as well as sensors.

  • In this study, we conducted a low temperature operating test and miniature tunnel model test to study the fire detection capability and properties of an early fire detection system using an optical sensor linear detector that can be installed in harsh environments such as tunnel or utility-pipe conduits which are becoming the major and national infrastructure facilities. The test showed that the optical sensor linear detector was the only one functioned properly among five thermal detectors installed at a low temperature of $-20^{\circ}C$ for 5 days. To study were analyzed adaptability of optical sensor linear detector in the windy tunnel, the operating properties of the optical sensor linear detector when the wind velocity was varied between 0 m/s and 1 m/s in a miniature tunnel model. The temperature change was high when the wind velocity was 0 m/s.

  • This paper relates to an IoT device system that detects sound source and estimates the sound source location. More specifically, it is a system using a sound source direction detection device that can accurately detect the direction of a sound source by analyzing the difference of arrival time of a sound source signal collected from microphone sensors, and track the generation direction of a sound source using an IoT sensor. As a result of a performance test by generating a sound source, it was confirmed that it operates very accurately within 140dB of the acoustic detection area, within 1 second of response time, and within 1° of directional angle resolution. In the future, based on this design plan, we plan to commercialize it by improving the reliability by reflecting the artificial intelligence algorithm through big data analysis.
