사고유형 분석에 의한 승강기 및 에스컬레이터 재해예방 (Accident Prevention for the Elevator and Escalator by the Accident Type Analysis)

  • The elevator is an essential part of the transportation means in modern society. It has become the convenient movement means of vertical and horizontal mobilities for vulnerable citizens including the disabled or elderly in skyscrapers and the multi-purposes facilities. After the 1990s, the number of newly installed elevators have increased because of the establishment of large scale public houses which need an increase of means of transportation. Thus, the safety accident in the elevator has been currently in an increasing trend as years passed by because that the elevator is always exposed to the risk of accident. Most of the elevator accidents occur in the escalator and moving walkway. This study investigated the current usage situations of users at multi-purpose shopping spaces, the sub way, and the airport about the escalator including moving walkway. Moreover the accident types were analyzed for the escalator based on 10 years of statistics. And the methods for the accident prevention were proposed on the equipment, management and user side.

  • 기술이 발전함에 따라 사람이 해야 했던 상당 부분을 기계가 대신하거나 보조하게 되면서 사람들은 편리해지고 안전해졌다. 그러나 한편으로는 자연적인 위험을 줄이고, 생활의 편이를 돕기 위해 만들어진 기술에 의해서 인위적인 위험이 생겨나고 이는 돌이킬 수 없는 신체의 장애를 초래하기도 하였다. 지체장애인의 약 70%가 선천성 장애가 아닌 후천적인 이유라는 사실이 이를 뒷받침 한다. 점차 자애인의 수는 증가하고 있으며, 장애인의 권익을 최대한 보호하고 그들이 장애를 겪지 않는 사람들과 동등한 혜택을 누리면서 살 수 있도록 하기 위해 각 단체에서 지속적인 관심을 갖고 개선하기 위해 노력하고 있다. 특히 장애인의 절반을 차지하는 지체장애인이 대중교통을 이용의 편의를 위한 이동에 관한 부분은 많이 개선되었으나 여러 부분에서 개선과 보완이 필요하며 정보디자인 부분도 예외는 아니다. 특정 정보를 필요로 하는 사용자가 그 정보를 정확하게 쉽게 찾아 이해할 수 있도록 하는 것은 실제 환경에서 사람들의 편의를 돕기 위해 존재하는 매체들을 충분히 활용하기 위해서도 매우 중요하다. 이 연구에서는 공공물 디자인에 많이 적용되고 있는 유니버설디자인 관점에서 지체징인들의 대중교통의 대표적인 수단의 하나인 지하철 이용 편의를 위한 정보 전달 시스템의 중심인 사인시스템의 현황을 분석하고 개선 방안에 대해 연구해 보았다.

A Review on the Application of Eye-tracking in Design Areas

  • Objective: This study aims to examine domestic literature on eye-tracking in the design area, and to present new eye-tracking application directions. Background: Eye-tracking was introduced in the experimental psychology field for the first time in the 1950s. Eye-tracking has high utilization values in the design application area because eye-tracking can accumulate data on what people see, providing the quantitative values on eye movement. Method: This study examined the papers published in domestic journals, as well as the papers presented in conferences from 2000 to 2016 through DBPIA. Results: Although the use of eye-tracking technology was slightly meager in the product design area, it has been actively used for the evaluation analyses of preference and attention in architecture/public design. Eye-tracking also presented a method to design advertisement that is helpful to advertisement effect measurement, and product salesin the advertisement design area. Since detail psychological analysis is possible, the application of eye-tracking in the studies related with user interface has been active. Conclusion: The eye-tracking technology is projected to be actively used as a new interface means, such as in helping in disabled people's communication and in device control, in addition to conventional application areas. Application: This study would be of help to find future research areas of eye-tracking.

장애인 이용자의 도서관불안 측정과 분석 - 공공도서관을 중심으로 - (Measurement and Analysis of Library Anxiety among Library Handicapped User)

  • 공공도서관의 서비스는 나이, 인종, 신분 등과 관계없이 누구에게나 평등하게 제공되어야 한다. 하지만 장애인들은 도서관 이용과 서비스 활용 측면에서 막연한 두려움과 불안감으로 공공도서관을 불편한 공공시설로 인식하고 있다. 따라서 본 연구는 장애인들이 공공도서관을 이용함에 있어서 느끼는 도서관불안이 무엇인지 알아보고자한다. 이를 위해 한국형 도서관불안 측정도구(K-LAS)를 가지고 지체, 시각, 청각, 뇌병변 장애인을 대상으로 설문조사하였다. 그 결과 대체로 장애인들은 도서관직원과 심리적 정서적 영역에 대한 불안이 높았으며, 성별, 나이, 장애유형, 도서관방문빈도, 방문목적에 따라 도서관불안의 정도 차이가 매우 높았다.

입 추적을 이용한 로봇 원격 제어 시스템 (Hands-free Robot Control System Using Mouth Tracking)

  • In this paper, we propose a robot remote control system based on mouth tracking. The main idea behind the work is to help disabled people who cannot operate a joystick or keyboard to control a robot with their hands. The mouth detection method in this paper is mainly based on the Adaboost feature detection approach. By using the proposed new Haar-like features for detecting the corner of mouth, the speed and accuracy of detection are improved. Combined with the Kalman filter, a continuous and accurate mouth tracking has been achieved. Meanwhile, the gripping commands of the robot manipulator were also achieved by the recognition of the user.s mouth shape, such as 'pout mouth' or 'grin mouth'. To assess the validity of the method, a mouth detection experiment and a robot cargo transport experiment were applied. The result indicated that the system can realize a quick and accurate mouse tracking; and the operation of the robot worked successfully in moving and bringing back items.

족압패턴에 의한 보행보조기를 위한 입각기 감지기법 (Recognition of Stance Phase for Walking Assistive Devices by Foot Pressure Patterns)

  • In this paper, we proposed a technique to recognize three states in stance phase of gait cycle. Walking assistive devices are used to help the elderly people walk or to monitor walking behavior of the disabled persons. For the effective assistance, they adopt an intelligent sensor system to understand user's current state in walking. There are three states in stance phase; Loading Response, Midstance, and Terminal Stance. We developed a foot pressure sensor using 24 FSRs (Force Sensing/Sensitive Resistors). The foot pressure patterns were integrated through the interpolation of FSR cell array. The pressure patterns were processed to get the trajectories of COM (Center of Mass). Using the trajectories of COM of foot pressure, we can recognize the three states of stance phase. The experimental results show the effective recognition of stance phase and the possibility of usage on the walking assistive device for better control and/or foot pressure monitoring.

공연시설에서의 장애인 객석 개선방안에 관한 연구 (A Study on the Architectural facility standards of Accessible seating in Theater&Culture Architecture)

  • Due to the recent Law on facilities Improvement in public performance facilities, equal access to the need of cultural satisfaction and the standards of facilities for people with disabilities are to be assessed. The aim of this study was to determine how to improve the facilities for disabled individuals and provide complementary guidelines for amenities designed for people with disabilities based on a comparative analysis of the disability codes in Korea, Japan, USA, Australia and Canada as well as a field observation. The results suggest the need for improved guidelines in terms of accessibility and accessible seating, which are summarized as follows: (1) The facility standards need to be complemented and clarified in terms of a detailed description, (2) regarding facilities for accessible seating, fall prevention handrails should be lowered to a height within the range of vision of the individual (3) The purpose and user's manual for theater and cultural facilities as well as detailed dimensional requirements need to be restated, and (4) an improvement in accessible seating in theaters and cultural facilities is needed. The purpose of the this study is to show an arrangement of a fundamental judgement and a ground data which can be complemented in planning a public performance facilities for the people with disabilities.

문서 편집 접근성 향상을 위한 음성 명령 기반 모바일 어플리케이션 개발 (Voice Activity Detection Algorithm using Wavelet Band Entropy Ensemble Analysis in Car Noisy Environments)

  • Voice Command systems are important means of ensuring accessibility to digital devices for use in situations where both hands are not free or for people with disabilities. Interests in services using speech recognition technology have been increasing. In this study, we developed a mobile writing application using voice recognition and voice command technology which helps people create and edit documents easily. This application is characterized by the minimization of the touch on the screen and the writing of memo by voice. We have systematically designed a mode to distinguish voice writing and voice command so that the writing and execution system can be used simultaneously in one voice interface. It provides a shortcut function that can control the cursor by voice, which makes document editing as convenient as possible. This allows people to conveniently access writing applications by voice under both physical and environmental constraints.

여성 하지 지체장애인을 위한 바지 디자인 제언 (Suggestions for the Design of Trousers for Women with Lower Extremity Disabilities)

  • The purpose of this study was to analyze the reality of clothes-wearing among physically disabled women and propose trouser designs. As a research method, an in-depth interview method was adopted for 10 women in their 30s and 50s with lower limb disabilities who could wear trousers and use wheelchairs. The study results identified the following factors that should be considered in the design of trousers. First, a semi-casual design that could hide physical deficiencies, was not different from ready-made clothes and enabled various looks was desirable. Second, the proper material would have little transformation in the form, have remarkable durability and laundry fastness, two-directional stretch, and hide deficiencies with a sense of thickness and density. Third, an "L-frame" pattern in a sitting position, and a straight fit were desirable. Finally, pockets can impose pressure according to their form, size, position, and sewing method, highlighted the need for a sewing approach to minimize seams in the fabric. For adjustment, an elastic band would be a good choice in terms of type, length, position, and material as it could satisfy both the convenience of putting on and taking off and comfort in wearing at the same time. Decorative design details can also impose pressure according to a sense of thickness, which means that they should be avoided in parts that are close to the body or can impose pressure according to posture.

키오스크를 이용한 장애인 및 약자를 위한 음성인식 주문시스템 (Ordering system for the disabled and the weak using a KIOSK with speech recognition technology)

  • 최근 COVID-19로 인하여 무인점포가 늘어나고 있는 추세이다. 무인 점포에는 주로 키오스크를 이용해서 결제를 하고 있는데, 일부 신체 장애를 가진 사람들이나 휠체어를 이용하는 장애인들은 그 사용이 쉽지 않다. 또한 어린아이들이나 노인들도 나이가 많아질수록 키오스크와 같은 새로운 기술을 사용하는 것에 어려움을 보이고 있다. 본 연구에서는 이러한 문제점을 보완하기 위해 사용자가 키오스크와 상호작용을 할 때 시각적인 요소 뿐만 아니라 음성인식 기능을 추가하여 음성으로 주문명령을 수행할 수 있는 시스템을 설계하였다.
